Chapter 829: Chapter 829: Willing to Wash Hands and Make Soup for You (7)

Through the rear-view mirror, Zhang Yufeng glanced at An Yiqing with gratitude, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, the pale knuckles betraying her inner excitement.

"Miss, thank you, thank you for continuing the sibling bond between my brother and me!" Zhang Yufeng’s voice choked up slightly, showing that even someone as stoic as she had her vulnerabilities.

"Don’t say that, I’m still counting on Brother Yusheng to stay healthy so I can be a hands-off manager for a few more years," An Yiqing winked teasingly, a sly smile on her face, "I’ll find some time in the next few days to invite Brother Yusheng, Binzi, and Jinglin over to my place to ask their opinions. This matter is entirely voluntary, and even if they don’t wish to practice ancient martial arts to prolong their lives, I can still ensure they stay healthy."

An Yiqing didn’t feel betrayed by the lack of interest in the cultivation of ancient martial arts from her subordinates. People have their own aspirations; some seek a simple and natural life, while others, bound by love, desire more time with their families. Either way, their desires were understandable.

Having resolved this issue, both An Yiqing and Zhang Yufeng felt much lighter in spirit. They drove off, quickly heading toward Xuanjin Pharmaceuticals.

In the suburbs of Xuandu City, the piece of land that An Yiqing had bought from Bai Yiming had, after more than half a year of publicity and reputation-building, turned into a prime location. Large businesses started to cluster around Xuanjin Pharmaceuticals, and the government, recognizing the potential of the area, began planning to shift its focus there.

Originally, An Yiqing just wanted to find a large, low-cost piece of land to build a medicinal herb base. She never expected that it would spur the development of the entire area.

Over the past half-year, with two rounds of renovations and reconstructions, Xuanjin Pharmaceuticals had transformed from a small building of just a few floors into a towering twenty-story office building. Behind the building was an herb garden and research base constructed at great expense by An Yiqing. The security was ironclad, and all monitoring equipment was personally supplied by Gu Yelin. Even the spies from Country Jin would have to shed a layer of skin to escape alive after snooping around.

Therefore, even with the great reputation of Xuanjin Pharmaceuticals, no one dared cause trouble on their grounds unless they had a death wish.

As usual, when An Yiqing arrived at the General Manager’s office of Xuanjin Pharmaceuticals, the news was still the same: Xing Bin was in the lab.

With a helpless shake of her head, An Yiqing sighed inwardly; Xing Bin’s passion for medical research was as strong as ever over a decade. However, as obsessed as he was, he never let it interfere with the essential tasks, not in business or company operations, which he managed with exemplary order. Moreover, as a highly talented medical student, spending so much time with researchers in the lab had genuinely generated many great ideas for Xuanjin Pharmaceuticals’ products.

"Chairwoman, please have a seat, I’ll call the General Manager right away," the young female secretary politely ushered An Yiqing into the office, then turned and gritted her teeth as she dialed Xing Bin’s number. The General Manager was always offbeat, the Diamond Single King acting like a medical lunatic, driving his secretary to distraction.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Xing Bin, who had been cooped up in the lab, came running back after a series of urgent calls from his secretary.

"Miss, why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I would have come to greet you!" Xing Bin burst through the office door, gasping for breath.

An Yiqing looked at him, his disheveled appearance making her temple throb. "Binzi, do you really work in the office looking like this every day?"

Xing Bin paused and gave a sheepish smile: "Heh, today was an exception. We’ve had some new findings in the lab these days, and I got a bit too excited and neglected the little things. Heh, Miss, I’m usually quite reliable."

Xing Bin was tall and burly with a straightforward and honest demeanor. When embarrassed, his face turned beet red, and his already messy hair looked like a bird’s nest as he ruffled it, making An Yiqing feel as if in the next moment, he might rip his hair out in chunks.

"Alright, go clean yourself up. You don’t want your secretary to laugh at you, looking like this every day," An Yiqing said, half-amused, half exasperated, waving her hand and glancing almost imperceptibly at the secretary peeking from outside the door.

Seeing her actions noticed, the secretary’s face turned red, and she quickly ducked her head down, hiding behind her desk.

Xing Bin looked puzzled at the secretary outside, then back at An Yiqing, who looked on with amusement but without comprehension.

"What can you tell from that blockhead? Hurry up and wash your face; I need to talk to you," An Yiqing said, her face a mix of frustration and exasperation. Her staff were all capable, but so dense-headed and without any romantic sense. The secretary’s obvious admiration had somehow gone unnoticed by Xing Bin.

Still scratching his head in puzzlement, Xing Bin walked into the restroom.

Moments later, gone was the slovenly middle-aged uncle, replaced by a tall, commanding young man who stood before An Yiqing.

"Hmm, that’s more like it. Who would want to cooperate with our company with you looking like that? Remember to dress neatly from now on, or don’t blame me for being strict when you can’t find a wife," An Yiqing subtly shifted the conversation towards the topic of "finding a wife."

However, Xing Bin had a talent for business and a gift for medical research but absolutely no flair for romance. He completely missed the point of An Yiqing’s jest.

"Miss, don’t worry, even if I dress shabbily, I will still accomplish the tasks you give me!" Xing Bin thumped his chest forcefully and declared loudly.

An Yiqing’s mouth twitched, her face displaying her resignation, while even the usually indifferent Zhang Yufeng behind her couldn’t help but smile at Xing Bin’s naive bluntness.
