PAMPERED BY MY THREE BROTHERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEGLECTED HEIRESS -
Chapter 1713: The origin
Chapter 1713: The origin
"Naylani Pierson, the one who raised me in the first life, and the one I tried to end along with me in this lifetime. She’s not part of the triplets, but she did alter her face under the orders of one of them."
Charles had already mentioned it before.
In this world, there were people—forces—carrying power that one couldn’t imagine. Power, wealth, and influence that even a government might know about, but not challenge. He said these forces could change a country’s fate with a word.
And Zoren vouched for that.
According to Zoren’s memories, he had stumbled upon this information during his investigation into Penny’s case. Not just the forces that weren’t known to the world, but rather, a story of what could happen if one of these forces split apart.
Just like what happened to the Zorken Family.
The Zorken Family was primarily responsible for covering the western region of the globe. They mostly operated in silence, supporting governments or neglecting them for their own reasons. Either way, they were powerful enough to manipulate every country’s economy and more.
The Zorken Family was also one of the most powerful forces among others.
Until...
Years ago, the head of the family had become obsessed with the research of life. Mainly, the creation of life. Quite blasphemous, but he had a reason for it. He and his wife couldn’t conceive a child. And with no heir, the Zorken Family would be in a difficult position.
Hence, using his wealth, connections, and power, they started research on how they could have children naturally. Initially, it was a research effort to solve their problem and have a child naturally. However, even after years of research, there were only a few options available to them.
And with the growing danger around them, the Zorken couple agreed to their last alternative.
The thing was, the head of the Zorken Family was concerned about a few things.
What if their child would be deformed?
What if this child would become a failure?
Or worse, what if this child wouldn’t live long?
With those worries in mind, they tried to "create" as many as they could. After all, the Zorken couple were still using their own weak sperm and egg. They didn’t want donors out of pride.
In the end, they managed to "grow" five, which they then placed in borrowed wombs from healthy women. These women were tended to throughout the pregnancy, taken care of, fed well, and pampered. But even with all that, two of them miscarried.
One could already imagine the fates of those two women.
Eventually, the last three gave birth to three beautiful and healthy girls.
Nathalie, Noel, and Naylani.
Despite being carried in different wombs, the triplets looked almost exactly the same. Yet, all three of them were individuals of their own. They might’ve shared the same face, but their attitudes and mannerisms were very distinct.
Nathalie, the firstborn, was mature and smart. She was a perfectionist and strict. At an early age, she already showed signs of good leadership. Her interest in their family affairs had always intrigued her, making her even more involved in the Zorken family matters as she grew up.
Therefore, she was her father’s favorite daughter.
Naylani, the second-born—only a few seconds later than Nathalie—was said to be just as brilliant as Nathalie. But unlike the perfectionist and strict Nathalie, Naylani was kinder in all sorts of ways. She was merciful and would turn a blind eye to the smallest mistakes.
But unlike Nathalie, Naylani wasn’t really interested in their family affairs. She only involved herself because she had to. Otherwise, the last daughter, Noel, would have to as well.
Noel, the youngest of the triplets. Noel was very different from both Naylani and Nathalie. At first, the Zorken couple were a little worried about their youngest daughter. After all, while Naylani and Nathalie started talking, Noel was nonverbal. While the other two daughters could already distinguish colors and shapes, she couldn’t.
Only later in life did they realize that there wasn’t really any problem with Noel. It was just that Noel’s interests were different. Her mind processed things differently from the rest. One could say she might be a genius. She didn’t care about any of their family affairs, even if she got punished for it. However, she had shown great interest in chemicals, and to be fair, she was truly a genius in this area.
Noel, even with her knowledge, managed to create many chemical weapons for their family. She simply didn’t care, as long as she could continue studying and quelling her interest. So, in a way, she was still involved in the Zorken Family affairs—just not in the way one would expect.
For a long while, the Zorken Family found peace with the head of the family fathering three exceptional daughters. The other threats looming around them also lessened.
But peace was an illusion in this world they walked in.
The year the head of the Zorken Family fell ill, things for the family began to spiral out of control.
Naturally, the head of the Zorken Family would choose Nathalie to take over. After all, Nathalie was his firstborn, and his favorite. He had always shown favoritism toward her over his other daughters.
And yet, the words that came out of his mouth during the critical days of his life were:
"Naylani, take care of our Zorken Family."
And those words... started a long and bloody war between the sisters.
No one knew why the dying Mr. Zorken chose Naylani as his heir in the end. After all, everyone was already expecting Nathalie to be the next head of the family. Sure, Naylani was brilliant as well, but unlike Nathalie, she would be less effective.
Many of Nathalie’s supporters disliked the decision, while those behind Naylani pledged their loyalty to her.
And when there are two leaders in a kingdom, things often don’t lead to peaceful results.
The moment Mr. Zorken took his last breath, the Zorken Family split into two factions.
