Sophie nodded and glanced down at the fruit juice on the tray. "Aren’t you going to come up for a drink and rest a bit?"

"Put the tray down first, then come over here," Thomas Shannon commanded, hooking a finger at her.

Since she finds it so hot, she can come down and cool off with him.

Sophie put down the tray and approached the edge of the swimming pool, looking down at the man in the water.

"Give me your hand."

Sophie hesitated before extending her hand. A wet hand suddenly seized hers and yanked her down—

"AH!"

Water splashed everywhere.

Thomas Shannon swam a short distance away, watching Sophie struggle in the water for a while before she finally surfaced.

"COUGH... COUGH..." Sophie choked, sputtering out the water she had swallowed.

Her cumbersome maid outfit, now soaked, clung heavily to her, making it difficult to swim. Not far away, the culprit watched in amusement.

They grappled fiercely underwater. Physically, Sophie was no match for him.

Just as Sophie was about to run out of air, Thomas Shannon, in a sudden show of mercy, released his grip on her.

Sophie kicked her way to the surface, gasping for air.

By this time, Thomas Shannon was already on shore. A servant handed him a towel, and he began drying his hair, looking down imperiously at Sophie, who was still in the swimming pool, panting heavily.

"Maniac, you’ve got guts."

That tone of his—is he actually blaming me?

"You’re the one who pranked me first!" Sophie retorted, indignant. He was clearly the one in the wrong, so how could he blame her? She was merely repaying him in kind.

After wrapping a bath towel around his waist, Thomas Shannon strode over to a lounge chair and lay down.

He picked up a cigarette from the small round table, lit it, and exhaled a plume of white smoke that drifted upwards.
