Chapter 88: Will He Die?
Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Will He Die?
An Yin just felt her face itch, and where the tissue had wiped, there was a tingly sensation.
"Buzz buzz buzz..."
She noticed the vibration coming from Bao Shaojin’s body.
"Your phone is ringing." An Yin lay on the hospital bed, not daring to move, softly reminding him.
Bao Shaojin glanced at the damp tissue in his hand and tossed it into the nearby trash can.
He took a few steps back, took the phone from his pocket, caught a glimpse of the name on the screen, but didn’t immediately answer, as the other side persistently kept calling.
"Don’t you want to answer it?" An Yin looked at him with a gloomy expression, her clear eyes filled with curiosity.
To make Bao Shaojin show such a troubled expression, who could be on the other end of that call? An Yin mused.
The next moment, An Yin saw Bao Shaojin lightly tap the screen. Even from more than two meters away, she could hear a male voice coming from the other end of the call.
"Big brother, you finally answered the phone." Su Nan’s voice carried urgency, with no regard for the time being early morning, just eager to catch up on his brother’s gossip!
"Get to the point." Bao Shaojin lifted his hand, holding the phone away from his ear—Su Nan can be so noisy at times.
Worried about disturbing the girl on the hospital bed, Bao Shaojin walked towards the distant balcony.
The VIP hospital room he arranged doesn’t just have a spacious interior but also includes a caretaker’s rest area and a balcony that overlooks the distant scenery.
"Ahem ahem..." Su Nan, afraid his nosiness was too obvious, feigned a cough, pretending to care, "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"Another word of nonsense and I’ll hang up." How could Bao Shaojin not know what was on Su Nan’s mind?
"Well... I heard you saved a young girl." Su Nan got straight to the point, knowing Bao Shaojin has limited patience.
"..."
Bao Shaojin looked up to the sky; the faint starlight was barely visible, and the moon was swallowed by clusters of clouds, under the night sky, the world seemed even darker.
On the other end, Su Nan continued to chatter away, while Bao Shaojin listened quietly, not responding.
"Big brother..." Su Nan cautiously called out, unsure if the other side was still listening.
"Anything else?" Bao Shaojin lowered his gaze, looking at his bandaged wrist, his eyes growing darker.
"I also heard, that young girl is Bao Cheng’s girlfriend!" Su Nan said this with a mocking tone, especially putting emphasis on the words "girlfriend" with a sarcastic bite.
Just from listening, you could tell he was full of mischievous scheming!
"Beep beep beep..."
Bao Shaojin directly hung up the phone.
The next moment, Bao Shaojin exhaled a breath of frustration; ever since he met An Yin, his once calm life kept encountering ripples.
In the past, he worked step by step every day. As for personal enjoyment, besides exercising, occasionally gathering with friends, personal emotions were never in his consideration.
Until Bao Cheng showed up with his girlfriend.
The only impression was that the young girl seemed delicate and easily bullied, leaving a complete impression of a "weakling."
As for her appearance, she was indeed a beauty, stunning to behold.
Perhaps, his recent unusual behavior was simply because the young girl seemed too frail and easily cherished!
Inside the hospital room.
An Yin originally wanted to wait for the man to finish his call, to get him to rest early, but as she waited and waited, she felt her eyelids grow heavier until her vision blurred, and she just fell asleep.
Tonight was chaotic; she was really exhausted!
The next morning, when An Yin woke up, looking at the white walls around her, she couldn’t react for a moment to where she was.
The caretaker nearby saw the person on the bed move slightly and quickly stood up, "Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
"Huh?" An Yin wanted to prop herself up but found her back a little sore.
The next moment, the caretaker appeared, holding An Yin’s wrists on both sides, "Be careful, let me help you up."
Faced with the stranger who suddenly appeared, An Yin stared blankly at her.
An Yin saw her in a nurse’s uniform, yet staying by her side all the time, looking curious, "May I ask who you are?"
"I am the caretaker Mr. Bao hired, specifically to take care of your daily needs. If you need anything, just let me know." The caretaker said with a smile.
An Yin hesitantly replied, "Okay, thank you."
"You’re welcome!"
In front of the caretaker, An Yin forced a smile, nervously swallowing, unable to help but wonder how much it cost to hire a caretaker.
She already owed Bao Shaojin too many favors, and if she added this one to the list, how long would it take before she could repay him? An Yin felt like crying but had no tears.
"Are you sure you don’t feel unwell anywhere?" Seeing the girl looking dejected, the caretaker couldn’t help but ask again.
"I’m fine!"
The needle in An Yin’s hand for the IV had been pulled out at some point.
An Yin, feeling uncomfortable with the caretaker’s gaze constantly on her, said, "I’m going to the bathroom." Seeing the caretaker about to assist her, An Yin quickly waved her hand, "I can get down by myself."
An Yin wasn’t used to being taken care of by others!
Seeing the girl’s guarded face, the caretaker helplessly nodded, "Be careful, and if you feel unwell, just say."
"Okay." An Yin nodded.
Under the caretaker’s watchful eyes, An Yin got off the hospital bed, feeling slight pain from the scratches, but it was still bearable.
There was a pair of brand new cotton slippers placed on the floor, which made An Yin stop: this hospital is really thoughtful!
After walking a few steps, she stopped, turned around, and took the phone from the bedside table, heading straight to the bathroom, locking the door behind her in one seamless motion.
After opening WeChat, she sent a message directly to Bao Shaojin.
An Yin: [Shaojin, I’m okay now, can you not hire a caretaker?]
After sending the message, An Yin did not receive a reply.
The waiting was a bit boring, so she looked around, noticing the bathroom was fully stocked with necessities, gradually realizing something was off.
When her mom was hospitalized before, the room had multiple patients, relatively crowded, and necessities needed to be prepared by themselves. Compared to this environment now, it’s a world of difference!
Even if An Yin was slow to realize, she now knew the place she was staying was the hospital’s VIP room.
An Yin, her hand trembling, picked up the phone to continue typing.
An Yin: [Shaojin, can I move to a regular room?]
The message again fell into a void.
Seeing that she had been in the bathroom long enough, An Yin decided to freshen up first.
When she pushed open the bathroom door and walked towards the hospital room, she looked up to see several doctors in white coats waiting at the bedside. As she appeared, all eyes turned towards her. An Yin, never having experienced something like this, froze in place.
