Chapter 86: Coward
Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Coward
When they left the hospital, An Yin was at a loss for words.
Thinking back to the examination moments ago, An Yin wished she could bury herself in a hole. It was just a minor injury to her finger, yet Bao Shaojin made such a fuss. After his repeated questioning, the doctor had no choice but to order an X-ray.
The result was predictable, her finger wasn’t broken.
And all Bao Shaojin did was simply apply some medicine and bandage it.
In the car, Assistant Lin looked at the dark night, his eyes growing deeper. Usually, if Mr. Bao didn’t specify a destination, he would drive toward the villa Mr. Bao frequently stayed at.
An Yin was shaken at the party and spent a lot of energy dealing with the injury. Now that she’s in the car, she leans back and falls into a light sleep.
Even though Assistant Lin drove smoothly, An Yin’s body still shook slightly.
From the moment she closed her eyes, Bao Shaojin’s dark gaze rested on her fair face. The young girl’s eyelashes were very long, perhaps because she wasn’t sleeping soundly, her long lashes trembled slightly, like a bird’s wings, light and soft...
Beneath her high nosebridge, her small mouth was tightly pursed, her luscious lips like a plump strawberry, bright red and tempting, making one want to take a bite and savor the taste.
Assistant Lin’s gaze inadvertently lifted, catching a deep pair of eyes in the rear-view mirror. He had never seen Mr. Bao so engrossed watching someone.
Moreover, Mr. Bao’s gaze held some inexplicable emotion, Assistant Lin quickly retracted his gaze, his heart pounding fiercely.
Outside, flickering lights shone into the car, casting Bao Shaojin’s gloomy face in light and shadow.
A row of upscale villas appeared in Assistant Lin’s view, he slowed down and skillfully drove into the garage, stopping steadily.
Assistant Lin turned to look at Bao Shaojin behind him.
With a glance, Assistant Lin understood.
He quietly opened the car door and left, leaving the tranquil space to the two in the car.
Outside, a warm yellow light was on, a bit of brightness that gave the entire garage a somewhat intimate feeling.
Time ticked by, and soft breathing could be heard inside the car.
A stray strand of hair fell across An Yin’s forehead, resting on her eyelids and nose, swaying with her breath, making her uncomfortable. In a daze, she reached out to rub her nose.
As she shifted her body, she fell towards Bao Shaojin like a kite with a broken string...
"Pfft..."
Her head directly hit Bao Shaojin’s injured wrist.
If he hadn’t seen her sleepy expression, Bao Shaojin would have really suspected the little girl did it on purpose.
As her body tilted and fell, An Yin groggily came to, realizing who was sitting beside her only when her head hit something soft.
She quickly sat up straight, not ignoring the hiss of breath from the man.
An Yin’s eyes fixed on his hand, the once white bandage now stained with a few streaks of red, likely from reopening the wound.
"Your hand... is bleeding." An Yin looked up, her innocent eyes staring straight at him, full of guilt!
"Hmm," Bao Shaojin replied coolly, clearly not considering this injury worth his attention.
An Yin, at a loss, asked, "What should we do?"
"Get out of the car."
After Bao Shaojin got out, he came around to her side and opened the car door for her.
An Yin saw how little he cared about the injury and pursed her lips, realizing her worry was unnecessary.
Then, she gingerly got out of the car, noticing the quiet surroundings. She looked around, "Brother Shaojin, where is this place?"
They were now in a garage; An Yin couldn’t see the outside environment and didn’t know where she was exactly, though this garage seemed somewhat familiar.
"Planning to sell you off so you won’t cause me trouble anymore!" Bao Shaojin, usually so serious, surprisingly made a joke.
Startled, An Yin immediately stopped in her tracks, her pale face looking at him timidly.
What a scaredy-cat! Bao Shaojin thought to himself.
An Yin hesitated in place, not wanting to guess whether the man’s words were true. She lightly raised her foot, doodling circles on the ground with her toe, murmuring, "It’s late, I want to go back to school."
"Your dorm is already closed by now." The girl’s awareness of caution was lacking, only now did she realize she might be taken home? Too late!
After Bao Shaojin spoke, An Yin quickly took out her phone from her pocket.
She didn’t expect it to be eleven forty at night!
"Then..." An Yin opened her mouth, unsure what to say.
Seeing her hesitant expression, Bao Shaojin’s face darkened, "Want to go to Ah Cheng’s place?"
Before he finished speaking, An Yin’s entire face turned red instantly. Her relationship with Bao Cheng wasn’t as the man thought, yet An Yin couldn’t refute it.
She had promised Keke!
Her silent demeanor made Bao Shaojin feel she was guilty, and he couldn’t help but think if this meant the little girl was very attached to Bao Cheng, always wanting to be with him?
Bao Shaojin suppressed the turmoil in his heart and said coldly, "Ah Cheng is too busy to accompany you tonight. By now, he’s likely a drunken mess."
Director Li could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk. Bao Cheng dealing with him was no match. Moreover, Bao Shaojin had instructed Uncle Wu to take Bao Cheng to the rest room when he’s had enough.
So, Bao Cheng was impossible to come looking for An Yin tonight.
Bao Shaojin ignored her, walking directly towards the house’s front door.
The garage lighting was poor, and An Yin was timid, so she had no choice but to closely follow Bao Shaojin.
Entering the villa’s front door, Auntie Zhang and some attendants were already waiting there.
Despite it being nighttime, the hall was brightly lit, full of solemnity.
Auntie Zhang stepped forward, about to speak before Bao Shaojin interrupted her.
"Prepare a room for her on the floor where I live." After saying that, Bao Shaojin headed towards the back hall.
It wasn’t until his cold, proud figure disappeared from the hall that Auntie Zhang regained her senses, looking at the charming young girl before her, "Miss An, we meet again!"
"Hello, Auntie Zhang!" An Yin politely greeted.
"How could it be a bother? You’re more than welcome here. You don’t know how bored I get here," Auntie Zhang spoke sincerely. God knows, Mr. Bao is unlike other young masters who bring women home every so often. He’s always so abstinent, never bringing any woman home, except for this young girl in front of her.
Thinking of the girl’s identity, Auntie Zhang’s face showed a shadow of difficulty.
The young girl was Bao Cheng’s girlfriend, Mr. Bao had mentioned before. It seems that the only young girl Mr. Bao brought home was out of luck.
Faced with Auntie Zhang’s enthusiasm, An Yin only smiled lightly, not knowing how to respond. To An Yin, everything here was unfamiliar and unsettling!
