Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Finally
Bao Cheng almost bit his own tongue when he said this.
In truth, Bao Cheng’s heart was already boiling, burning with discomfort. He was simply having a meal with Jiang Keke and An Yin, never expecting to encounter his cousin. Just when he wanted to pretend not to see him and quietly turn away, his cousin’s sharp eyes shot at him like a sword...
As you can imagine, there was no escaping now!
Even more infuriating was that when someone asked, "With your girlfriend?" he replied without thinking, "Yes!"
By the time he realized that in his cousin’s mind his "girlfriend" was An Yin, it was too late!
Wasn’t this asking for trouble!
At the dining table.
Bao Cheng and Bao Shaojin stood on one side, with the restaurant manager respectfully waiting behind them for instructions.
At the dining table, when Jiang Keke heard Bao Cheng’s words, she quickly realized something, and her heart was in a panic!
So... this is Bao Cheng’s cousin!
No wonder Bao Cheng had said before that he looked quite frightening. Seeing him today, Jiang Keke was completely convinced. She was so scared she forgot to greet him and sat trembling. However, she feared An Yin would give them away, so she could only hide her fear and secretly tug at An Yin’s hand on her thigh. The meaning was clear; she wanted An Yin to cooperate with her and pretend to be Bao Cheng’s girlfriend.
It wasn’t just Jiang Keke who was shocked but An Yin too!
She never expected to meet Bao Shaojin under such circumstances.
Only when her hand was tugged did An Yin come back to her senses. Turning her head, she saw her friend’s pale face, and An Yin wasn’t doing much better. How could she not see the pleading in Keke’s eyes? Moreover, when Bao Cheng introduced Jiang Keke just now, his eyes had subtly glanced in her direction. Even if An Yin was confused, she understood the current situation.
However, she wasn’t someone good at lying.
Under the eager gaze from both Bao Cheng and Jiang Keke, An Yin slowly stood up and looked at the man in front of her.
He still gave off that usual strong, oppressive feeling, and at the moment, his gaze fell on her, piercing and unabashed.
An Yin wondered if it was just her imagination. She hadn’t offended him, had she? Otherwise, why would she see a hint of rage in his eyes? It had to be her imagination, it had to be...
She steadied her emotions and nervously called out, "Brother Shaojin!"
Her voice was soft and sweet, sounding incredibly enticing to others.
For example: in Bao Shaojin’s ears.
Compared to Bao Shaojin’s odd behavior, Bao Cheng seemed like he had been struck by lightning, eyes wide open, staring at An Yin in complete horror.
What?
Did he hear wrong just now?
Did An Yin call him "Brother Shaojin"?
Bao Cheng also felt he might be overreacting and slightly turned his head to check his cousin’s expression.
He wasn’t angry, nor did he reject An Yin’s form of address. As the seconds ticked by, Bao Cheng’s heart was in turmoil, and he couldn’t figure out his cousin’s thoughts.
Bao Shaojin was someone whose emotions rarely showed, and few could guess what he was thinking, even someone standing right in front of him.
The air seemed to have frozen; everyone fell silent.
Jiang Keke noticed Bao Cheng had introduced her earlier, and it would be impolite not to greet his cousin, so she forced a smile and politely said, "Mr. Bao!"
Bao Cheng had mentioned before that this cousin of his was quite formidable. Now seeing him, Jiang Keke vaguely sensed this man was no ordinary person.
After Jiang Keke spoke, Bao Shaojin didn’t even glance at her, leaving Jiang Keke awkwardly clenching her fists. Though feeling very embarrassed, she had no choice but to endure.
Bao Shaojin stared at the young girl before him, his gaze sharp. Feeling uneasy, she quickly lowered her head, looking quite timid.
"Sit down."
Bao Shaojin’s words allowed everyone to breathe a sigh of relief.
However, he sat right across from An Yin.
Bao Cheng paused for a moment but didn’t overthink it, instead walking over to sit across from Jiang Keke, feeling slightly relaxed, as after all, Keke was his legitimate girlfriend.
"Mr. Bao, here is the menu," the manager said as he presented the menu.
Bao Shaojin didn’t even look up and said coldly, "Order for her."
The manager was momentarily confused, as there were several females present, and he wasn’t sure which "her" Mr. Bao referred to.
It was Bao Cheng who took the menu and timidly handed it to An Yin, "Yin, Yinyin, you order."
After speaking, Bao Cheng made a point to observe Bao Shaojin’s expression and, seeing no change, finally felt relieved.
Bao Cheng felt happy inside: it seems his cousin respects his "girlfriend" quite a lot.
What Bao Cheng didn’t know was that his calling her "Yinyin" left both An Yin and Jiang Keke feeling uneasy.
However, since the scene was already set, there was no way not to play it out.
An Yin really wanted to refuse Bao Cheng’s suggestion; she was really not good at ordering. However, thinking about the two wealthy men before her, she really didn’t want to owe them any favors, so she opened the menu and flipped through it, trying to pick the cheapest items.
By the end, the dishes just got more expensive!
An Yin looked up to find everyone was watching her, making it clear she had to choose something.
An Yin steeled herself, pointed at the cheapest page, and said to the manager standing beside her, "I’ll have this, thank you."
"Certainly, Miss," the manager replied with a smile.
Bao Cheng was just about to hand the menu to his cousin, as a sign of respect, when he heard the other speak up too, "The same for me."
The manager’s expression shifted slightly but quickly returned to normal, responding, "Certainly, Mr. Bao."
Others might not understand, but the manager knew very well that Mr. Bao always ordered a special western dish whenever he visited this restaurant, a tradition that had never changed. Today, Mr. Bao broke with tradition, leaving the manager quite surprised.
Bao Cheng and Jiang Keke didn’t dare to have any other ideas.
They obediently ordered the same dish.
Jiang Keke was trying her best to minimize her presence. She, who usually talked the most, sat silently now, not daring even to look at Bao Cheng, fearing his cousin might notice anything amiss.
Although she felt quite aggrieved, the thought of joining a film crew during the winter break soothed her heartache a bit.
Jiang Keke knew An Yin was also feeling uncomfortable. When she turned her head earlier, An Yin’s pale face was filled with panic and fear, and Jiang Keke couldn’t bear it!
Jiang Keke knew that An Yin was naturally timid and didn’t like interacting with strangers, which she was well aware of! And now, the man she faced was overwhelmingly intimidating.
At this moment, Jiang Keke felt quite guilty towards her friend, and she decided that once she was in the film crew, she would make sure Bao Cheng clarified the situation with An Yin pretending to be his "girlfriend."
