Chapter 55: Chapter 55 Breakup

"It’s alright, hurry up and eat." Assistant Lin said impatiently.

An Yin, "..."

Hadn’t she had breakfast? Why was Assistant Lin so agitated? Was he hungry too?

Thinking of this, An Yin carefully looked at the back of Assistant Lin’s head and softly asked, "Do you want a meat bun?"

Assistant Lin was momentarily confused. Was that what he meant?

However, he replied, "Just one, thanks!"

An Yin, "..." Assistant Lin was indeed hungry!

An Yin picked up the bag containing breakfast, stood up slightly, and handed a meat bun to the front seat, "Assistant Lin, here, eat this."

Assistant Lin reached out and took one, "Do you have enough for yourself?" It felt a bit unreasonable for someone who’d already had breakfast to grab a young girl’s meat bun!

"Plenty, plenty." An Yin nodded vigorously.

"Good, then you have some too!" Assistant Lin took another after finishing speaking.

Actually, he wasn’t very hungry, but the aroma of the meat bun tempted him to try it out since he hadn’t eaten in a while.

"Okay." An Yin noticed he was eating in the car and then took out her breakfast, eating slowly.

Assistant Lin finished his in a few bites, his eyes constantly fixed on the road ahead. Perhaps driving for Bao Shaojin for many years made him a very cautious driver!

Soon, the only sound in the car was An Yin quietly munching on her food.

An Yin glanced at the bag at her feet, which her mom had bought for her and her roommates. Then, she looked up at Assistant Lin driving, and a thought popped into her head.

"Miss An, should the car be parked in the same spot as last time?" Assistant Lin asked.

Last time?

An Yin recalled that there was indeed a time when Assistant Lin drove her back to school, but Bao Shaojin was there too, "Hmm, just park at the corner like last time."

"Yes." An Yin swallowed her soy milk awkwardly and said, "Assistant Lin, you can just call me An Yin."

Assistant Lin didn’t respond.

He wouldn’t dare. The young lady was under Mr. Bao’s protection, and even with ten times the courage, he wouldn’t call her by her name.

"We’re here."

The car stopped smoothly. Assistant Lin kindly reminded her, his tone unusually gentle.

"Thank you, Assistant Lin." An Yin smiled and said, "My mom bought some tangerines, here you go."

After speaking, she picked two of the largest ones from the bag and handed them to Assistant Lin.

"You should keep them for yourself, but thank you for your kindness." Assistant Lin politely declined.

The young lady was polite and generous, especially with her pure, innocent face, which was very precious to those who had been through the deceitful business world! No wonder Mr. Bao looked at her differently! Assistant Lin thought.

"They’re very sweet, so I’ll just leave them here." An Yin placed the tangerines on the front passenger seat, then opened the car door and waved at him, "Thanks for sending me to school, Assistant Lin."

"You’re welcome!" Assistant Lin replied, his gaze falling on the two bright yellow tangerines.

Just as he was about to start the car, his phone rang.

The distinctive ringtone sounded, and he quickly answered.

"Mr. Bao!" Assistant Lin’s expression changed, ready to follow orders at any moment.

"Where are you? Didn’t I ask you to bring the documents over?" Bao Shaojin’s tone was calm.

However, having been by his side for many years, Assistant Lin knew this was the calm before the storm.

"Mr. Bao, I happened to meet Miss An on my way here, so I took her to school. I’m heading back to the office now." Assistant Lin prayed silently in his heart.

Let’s see if the young lady could be his shield, and from that, gauge her position in Bao’s heart!

Silence!

The silence on the other end of the phone was terrifying!

Assistant Lin held the phone, beads of sweat subtly forming in his palm.

"Why was she there so early in the morning?" Bao Shaojin questioned.

"Miss An said she was staying with her mother here." Assistant Lin replied, heart trembling in fear of leaving out a single word.

"Did she tell that to you?" The deep voice spoke again.

"It was mentioned in casual conversation." Assistant Lin chose his words carefully.

"Hm!" Bao Shaojin didn’t answer but sneered coldly instead.

Assistant Lin was stunned.

So, what did Mr. Bao mean?

While Assistant Lin racked his brain but couldn’t figure it out, his gaze was drawn to the tangerines on the front passenger seat.

Regardless, he took a bold step, telling a white lie, "Miss An asked me to bring you something to eat."

When Miss An had given him the tangerine, she only said "here," without specifying a name, so handing it to Mr. Bao wasn’t wrong! Assistant Lin consoled himself.

"Then, hurry back." Bao Shaojin dropped this sentence and abruptly hung up the phone.

It was a while before Assistant Lin moved the phone away from his ear.

"Phew..." Assistant Lin took a deep breath.

As he looked at the two tangerines, he almost wanted to buy more from the fruit store!

Oh well!

Two will have to do!

Assistant Lin started the car and drove off quickly!

An Yin didn’t go to the classroom immediately. She placed her things in the dormitory and then rushed to class.

She arrived just in time as the bell rang.

Returning to her seat, she instinctively looked over to Jiang Keke’s direction.

Keke didn’t come to class?

An Yin considered calling her friend, but since class was starting, she decided not to!

Once the class ended, she quickly pulled out her phone, found Jiang Keke’s number, and dialed it.

The call rang several times before someone finally answered.

"Hello..."

The voice on the other end was hoarse, and even though it was only one word, An Yin seemed to hear the sound of someone sobbing.

Was Keke crying?

"Keke, are you crying? What’s happened?" An Yin asked, her face full of concern.

"No, no." Although Jiang Keke tried her best to hide it, the sound of her stifled sobs sounded very concerning.

"Keke, you’re lying." An Yin directly pierced through her friend’s lie, "Tell me, what happened?"

"I..." Jiang Keke broke into tears, "Bao Cheng, he, he wants to break up with me! Ugh..."

On the other end, Jiang Keke’s cries were heart-wrenching.

An Yin frowned slightly.

Break up?

Bao Cheng actually mentioned breaking up with Keke.

Weren’t they already in a confirmed relationship and living together? How could Bao Cheng propose a breakup? This... was too sudden.

An Yin sat there dumbfounded, before finally muttering, "Is Bao Cheng really breaking up with you? Why?"

Did she hear it wrong? An Yin was doubtful.

The two of them were like conjoined twins who couldn’t be separated. Not long ago, and now Bao Cheng could say such a heartless thing!

Maybe Bao Cheng was being capricious, and Keke took it seriously. An Yin’s anxious heart pondered.

"He explicitly said the word ’breakup,’ I heard it clearly, and as for why, ha, maybe he found someone ’new.’"
