Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Ugly

An Yin’s bright eyes were fixed on the dazzling fireworks in the sky. As the display continued to unfold, everywhere she looked was filled with brilliant blooms and twinkling starlight!

A few meters away.

There stood a separate, all-encompassing glass house.

On the observation deck, several middle-aged men stood trembling on either side. Their gazes were exceptionally consistent as they all looked toward the man standing at the forefront, Mr. Bao, each trying to gauge his mood, fearing even the slightest sign of displeasure from him!

Assistant Lin was the first to sense something off about Bao Shaojin.

Even standing a meter away from Mr. Bao, Assistant Lin could feel the chill emanating from him.

"Mr. Bao, is there something wrong with the fireworks display?" After receiving the anxious expressions from everyone, Assistant Lin boldly stepped forward, trying his best to suppress his nervousness and cautiously inquired.

Bao Shaojin was tall and towered over the group of men standing on the observation deck with his commanding height.

Bao Shaojin remained silent, and Assistant Lin did not dare to ask further, but he was sure Mr. Bao had heard his question clearly.

Assistant Lin held his breath and focused on the other man’s eyes.

Bao Shaojin’s gaze was not directed at the fireworks in the sky; instead, he had his head lowered, a look of disdain on his face, watching the bustling crowd along the lakeside.

Assistant Lin thought to himself: There’s nothing unusual, though!

Just as he despondently lowered his gaze, he caught sight of a familiar and beautiful figure.

It’s, it’s her!

The female university student whom Mr. Bao did not seem to dislike!

While Assistant Lin was still in shock, his eyes were drawn again to the scene where the girl was tightly protected in a boy’s embrace. From their angle, she seemed to be snugly nestled in the boy’s arms, appearing in great intimacy.

Assistant Lin dared not look at Mr. Bao’s expression any further, his head bowing even lower!

This is just too much! Even an assistant’s life is precious!

"Tonight’s fireworks are too unsightly, stop them!" Bao Shaojin remarked, his eyes darkly glancing towards that slender figure before finally speaking.

Assistant Lin kept a sentence to himself, not daring to say it: Mr. Bao, did you even look up at the fireworks?

The manager responsible for the fireworks display, wiping the cold sweat off his forehead, hurried forward and said, "Mr. Bao, the performance has only been going on for a few minutes. The more exciting part..." Before he could finish, he saw the man in front of him had already turned, about to leave, and caught the "shut up" signal from Assistant Lin, promptly silencing himself.

As Bao Shaojin left, everyone exchanged looks, completely at a loss as to what went wrong with the fireworks display.

They were well aware that knowing Mr. Bao was watching personally, they were showcasing the highest level of fireworks, yet all they received was the comment "unsightly"!

Of course, no one was satisfied with this assessment, but no one dared to question or express any dissatisfaction!

The project manager quickly reacted and took out his phone to make a call.

Seconds later, this grand fireworks display came to an abrupt end.

Amidst the crowd.

People were chattering endlessly with complaints.

Su Yifeng protected An Yin and said aloud, "Let’s wait for a bit before we leave, it’s too crowded right now."

"Alright," An Yin agreed wholeheartedly.

Someone had stepped on the back of her heel just now, and it still throbbed faintly!

As everyone began to leave, the cacophony subsided considerably. Su Yifeng, feeling apologetic, said, "The original plan was to bring you to watch the fireworks display, but..." It was embarrassing that they had to stop it shortly after it began!

An Yin saw through his awkwardness and quickly spoke, "It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself. Besides, even though the fireworks only lasted a short while, it was enough for me."

She had never seen such a grand fireworks display before, and the spectacle of stars filling the sky had already left her in awe.

Su Yifeng noticed her genuine delight and felt reassured!

By the lakeside at night, a gentle breeze floated.

Clouds of smoke drifted over the lake, creating a unique sight in the haze.

The number of people on the road slowly decreased, and the surroundings became quiet.

Looking at the shimmering surface of the lake, An Yin felt particularly joyful, still unable to calm down from the splendid fireworks earlier, her spirits soaring.

Su Yifeng looked at her radiant face, his heart equally moved.

Not wanting the atmosphere between them to be too cold, Su Yifeng attempted to make small talk, "I didn’t expect the Bao Corporation to be so unreliable, even managing to make a fireworks display end halfway."

He was understandably displeased! It was a rare occasion to invite a girl out, only for it to end in disappointment.

"Maybe they have their reasons," An Yin said without concern.

To her, there was little difference between watching for one minute or ten minutes.

After all, fireworks are fleeting, and the longer you watch, the more you long for them!

Su Yifeng frowned slightly at her defense of the Bao Corporation but didn’t argue back.

At this time, Su Yifeng noticed a unique-looking glass house in the distance. "Look over there..." he said as he pointed in the direction of the glass house.

An Yin followed his finger. "The glass house looks so beautiful!"

An Yin’s eyes lit up, and she sighed.

"Wanna go take a look?" Su Yifeng proposed.

After hesitating for a moment, An Yin nodded, "Okay."

The two of them walked towards the glass house.

The closer they got, the more amazed they became!

The area surrounding the house was full of blooming flowers, and despite it being well into autumn, there were all sorts of flowers in bloom, as if they had stepped into spring. The scent lingered in the air, enchanting everyone around!

From their vantage point, they couldn’t see inside the glass house, indicating a high level of privacy.

"I wonder if there’s anyone inside?" An Yin’s lively eyes were fixed on the glass, but she could only see her own reflection, unable to discern anything within.

Su Yifeng shook his head, "I don’t know."

The two did not pursue this question any further.

If An Yin had known that across from her, through the glass, a pair of callous and deep eyes were staring straight at her, she probably would have been scared out of her wits!

On the ground floor of the building, Bao Shaojin paused in front of the glass doors.

Assistant Lin could only silently follow behind.

Looking at the handsome young man and woman outside, Assistant Lin didn’t dare to make a sound, trying his best to minimize his presence.

He watched as Mr. Bao was about to leave but stopped when he saw the young woman outside.

His dark eyes, as if staring at lifeless objects, were fixed intensely on the young woman outside.

Assistant Lin nervously swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

So, what exactly is the relationship between Mr. Bao and the young woman outside?

The only thing Assistant Lin was sure of was that Mr. Bao felt something special about this young woman, but this special feeling seemed to be restrained...

Assistant Lin really couldn’t decipher his thoughts and didn’t dare to speculate any further!

Outside the glass house, An Yin suddenly felt a chill, shivering slightly, feeling inexplicably as if someone was watching her.
