Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Untouchable Moon
When An Yin returned to the dorm wearing new clothes, she felt uneasy.
However, it was fortunate that no one was in the dorm.
Shi Qing had not come back yet.
Jiang Keke and Bao Cheng lived together.
As for Yan Lan, the person who originally lived in the dorm, An Yin couldn’t help but glance at the vacant bed at the far end. She would occasionally stay for a few days during her freshman year, but most of the time she was nowhere to be seen, and they met only a few times throughout the year.
Previously, the Dormitory Aunt had mentioned that Yan Lan paid the accommodation fees, so the school kept the bed for her.
An Yin withdrew her gaze and quickly took off her brand-new coat, carefully smoothing the sleeves, and placed it on the bed.
All night, An Yin was busy in the bathroom washing the bloodstains, forgetting the pain in her stomach.
When she finished washing clothes and tidying herself up before emerging from the bathroom, she saw a familiar figure sitting at the desk not far away.
"Shi Qing, you’re back," An Yin said, startled for a moment before speaking.
Sharing the same dormitory, An Yin couldn’t ignore her. Although Shi Qing seemed cold and aloof, An Yin didn’t find her difficult to get along with; perhaps that was just her nature!
A soft voice came from behind, causing Shi Qing to stiffen before she reacted and lightly said, "Mm."
Then, An Yin saw her get up from the desk, take her clothes, and go to the bathroom.
Living alone in the dorm was a bit too quiet.
Luckily, there was Shi Qing to keep her company!
Although Shi Qing was mostly silent, An Yin felt a sense of stability in her heart!
She came to the bed, looking at the coat given by the man, and wondered how he would handle the two bloodstained cushions?
And... why did something always happen when she met him?
An Yin reached out and touched the texture of the clothes, feeling the soft and delicate fabric. The simple style was understated yet elegant... An Yin couldn’t imagine how expensive it was.
That night, An Yin tossed and turned several times.
Plus, due to her period, she felt sore all over. In the latter half of the night, she alternated between feeling cold and hot...
In a daze, An Yin opened her hazy eyes. The glaring light made her squint as she looked at the person pulling her quilt, murmuring, "Shi Qing?"
An Yin tried to open her eyes but was too weak, meeting the other’s gaze in her peripheral vision.
"You have a fever!"
Shi Qing, wearing light gray pajamas, was standing by An Yin’s bed.
"A fever?" An Yin slowly reached out and touched her forehead, "It is a bit hot..."
"Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else?" Shi Qing asked, looking at her flushed face, which looked exceptionally delicate and soft as a peach blossom.
"My period came, my stomach hurts a bit, my head is a bit dizzy, no energy..." An Yin mentioned a few symptoms without thinking, realizing afterward that her tone was somewhat like a spoiled child.
An Yin immediately buried her head in the quilt, exposing only her big, round eyes awkwardly looking at Shi Qing.
Shi Qing, "..."
From the first time she saw An Yin, Shi Qing thought this roommate was quite beautiful!
Her beauty was not ostentatious; it was a gentle elegance imbued in her bones!
Although they didn’t interact much, Shi Qing didn’t dislike her, and sometimes she even envied her, especially when she saw her chatting with her mom over the phone, the natural gentle smile at her lips made Shi Qing feel envious from the bottom of her heart.
This kind of familial affection was something she longed for but couldn’t have!
Although she once had it!
But having had it and then losing it was even more cruel to her!
"I have some Ibuprofen, I’ll get you a pill," Shi Qing said softly and walked away with lowered eyes.
An Yin pondered: Was it her illusion? Why did it seem as though Shi Qing was a bit sad just now?
An Yin shook her head, refusing to speculate about others.
Before long, Shi Qing returned with an Ibuprofen capsule, handing it to An Yin, while the other hand held a cup of water.
"Take it."
An Yin propped herself up and sat, reaching out to receive the medicine, swallowing it with a gulp of water. Once the irritation in her throat subsided, she sincerely said, "Thank you!"
"Get some sleep. If you still feel unwell, you can call me anytime."
Shi Qing took the cup from An Yin’s hand, placed it on the desk, and then crawled into her own bed.
Despite appearing cold and indifferent, she was actually full of care!
An Yin looked at the brightly lit room, muttering, "Aren’t you turning off the lights?"
"I’ll do it when you fall asleep," Shi Qing replied.
An Yin, "Alright..."
Was it because she was sick, making her exceptionally sensitive? Why did Shi Qing feel so warm tonight?
After lying down, An Yin felt much better, perhaps because the cold medicine began to take effect, and she soon fell asleep.
Outside, it was pitch black.
In contrast, Shi Qing couldn’t sleep. She got up, glanced at An Yin’s bed, turned off the light, yet didn’t go directly to bed. Instead, she went to the balcony and looked up, staring at the dark night sky.
The darker it got, the more peaceful her heart felt!
Then, the moon, which had been obscured by clouds, gradually emerged, adding a mysterious hue to the vast universe.
Shi Qing slowly raised her hand, spread her fingers, and reached out towards the moon...
The bright and spotless moon, she just couldn’t touch!
The following morning.
When An Yin woke up, she felt almost completely recovered, except for a slight stomach ache.
She wanted to properly thank Shi Qing but noticed that her quilt was already neatly folded like tofu, indicating she had already left.
An Yin glanced at the time on her phone; if she didn’t have breakfast and went straight to class, she might not be late!
Unable to dally any longer, An Yin quickly got up and prepared herself before heading straight to the classroom.
She didn’t notice that after she walked out of the dormitory, someone called her name from behind.
Su Yifeng watched her fleeting figure, swallowing the "junior" he was about to say, and seeing her rushing towards the teaching building, he decided not to delay her.
But she went straight from the dormitory to class—did she have breakfast? Su Yifeng pondered.
The body’s response is honest.
He had already started walking towards the cafeteria.
After one class, An Yin was so hungry her stomach was growling.
Next to her, Jiang Keke had already noticed her unusual behavior.
"What’s wrong? You look a bit off," she languidly propped a hand on the desk, tilting her head to look at An Yin.
"Growl..."
A peculiar sound came from An Yin’s stomach.
Now Jiang Keke finally understood why she seemed so listless.
"Are you hungry?"
Before Jiang Keke finished speaking, the vice monitor at the front of the class loudly shouted, "An Yin, someone is looking for you outside..." The voice was so loud that the whole class turned to look.
An Yin looked up in the direction of the vice monitor, wishing she could find a hole to hide in, but she still politely replied, "Okay, vice monitor."
