Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother -
Chapter 164 Betrayal
Chapter 164: Chapter 164 Betrayal
The male doctor, hearing this, nodded in fear and withdrew reluctantly.
In the corridor, Bao Shaojin stood in front of the ward door, exuding an aura of coldness that made people instinctively want to avoid him.
Assistant Lin suppressed his doubts and remained silent.
He really wanted to say: Mr. Bao, why don’t you go into the ward!
In Assistant Lin’s eyes, Mr. Bao was decisive and action-oriented, yet at this moment, standing in front of the ward door, his expression seemed like he was... angry!
Inside the ward.
An Yin walked forward in a daze, approaching the center where a hospital bed was placed. By the window, there was a sofa, a tea table, a TV... Previously, under Bao Shaojin’s arrangement, An Yin had also stayed in such a luxurious ward. Looking around, An Yin felt somewhat uncomfortable.
A caretaker stood by the side of the bed. When An Yin entered, the caretaker looked at her and greeted in a crisp voice, "Hello!"
"Hello." An Yin replied with a reserved smile.
Bao Cheng was holding a tablet, eyes wide open, concentrating on the screen, indulged in the game, so much so that he didn’t notice An Yin coming in.
An Yin approached the side of the bed, looking at him.
Bao Cheng was lying on his back on the bed, one foot in a cast, looking seriously injured, and his face was not much better, covered in bruises and purple marks...
What happened to him?
"Can’t you all put in some effort? Playing so badly and still have the audacity to team up?" Bao Cheng shouted at his tablet, then furiously tossed it to the foot of the bed.
He showed a bit of anger between his brows, and when he suddenly looked up, he was startled to see An Yin standing there, "How did you know I was here?" Bao Cheng’s curiosity was written all over his face.
"Keke was worried about you, so she asked me to contact your cousin, and he brought me here," An Yin explained the series of events.
"My brother is here?" Bao Cheng propped himself up, enduring the pain in his leg, with a face full of fright.
"He’s right outside, should I call him in?" An Yin thought Bao Cheng wanted to see him.
Before the other could finish speaking, Bao Cheng repeatedly waved his hands, "No, no need."
An Yin didn’t think much, glanced over Bao Cheng, "How did you get these injuries?"
Bao Cheng’s eyes dodged, lowering his head guiltily, "I was accidentally injured while stopping a fight." For Bao Cheng, lying came with ease.
"Have you been avoiding Keke because you’re injured?" An Yin’s clear eyes fell on him.
An Yin remembered the scene she saw of him being unfaithful before, inexplicably feeling the man in front of her was so hypocritical. Clearly in a relationship with Jiang Keke, yet secretly with another woman. Every time she thought of how he let her friend down, An Yin felt uncomfortable!
She didn’t know how to hide her emotions, and when her gaze landed on Bao Cheng, the resentment within her eyes was too evident.
Bao Cheng, when he looked up, could see through her at a glance.
"I’m afraid Keke would worry," Bao Cheng replied perfunctorily and caught sight of a bit of doubt in her eyes. Bao Cheng voiced his own thought, "You don’t believe what I just said? Otherwise, why would you look at me with such a strange expression?"
An Yin spoke, "It doesn’t matter whether I believe you or not."
Bao Cheng, "..." Why did he feel An Yin seemed off today?
An Yin withdrew her gaze, unwilling to see the man treat her friend in such a way. She spoke softly to the caretaker standing beside, "I want to talk with him about private matters, could you leave for a moment?"
"Okay." The caretaker’s eyes darted back and forth over the two of them before retreating.
Bao Cheng, seeing her send the caretaker out, adjusted his posture and sat up, "Is Keke asking you to deliver a message to me?" Surely it must be something sweet and sappy that An Yin was too shy to say directly, so she sent the caretaker out. Bao Cheng guessed privately.
"Bao Cheng." An Yin looked at the man before her and called out seriously.
Bao Cheng was stunned by her solemn tone, suddenly feeling nervous, "An Yin, just say whatever you want to say, we’re not strangers."
He’s worse than a stranger, isn’t he? An Yin sneered internally.
"I ran into you at the hospital last time." An Yin got straight to the point. She didn’t want to bring up such a sordid matter and upset her friend, but she couldn’t pretend nothing happened either. She had to make Bao Cheng realize his mistake.
"Wha-what." Bao Cheng was so shocked that he almost bit his tongue.
Despite guessing what she was referring to, he still clung to a sliver of hope, unwilling to be honest.
"The child..." An Yin stared at him with piercing eyes, uttering two words.
Bao Cheng’s expression changed slightly, his gaze shifting from initial surprise to something sinister, "Did you tell Keke?"
Under his cold stare, An Yin shook her head, "No."
She remembered the first time she saw Bao Cheng; he was suave, sunny, and handsome, and his occasional humor during conversations made him seem quite friendly. Although they hadn’t met many times, An Yin had a good impression of him!
If she hadn’t caught him cheating, An Yin wouldn’t have known the man before her had two faces. When he looked at her just now, the violent look in his eyes was too intense to ignore.
An Yin stepped back two steps, finding the Bao Cheng before her very unfamiliar.
"An Yin, thank you for not telling Keke about this." Bao Cheng pursed his lips, pulling up a smile as if the previous change of face hadn’t happened. Then tentatively, he asked, "How much do you know about this?"
An Yin glanced at him, counter-questioning without answering, "The pregnant woman, that’s the ’cousin’ you mentioned before, right?"
Bao Cheng’s eyes were murky, unsure how to speak.
An Yin took it as his admission.
Liar, claiming she was a ’cousin,’ speaking with such high-sounding justifications, and to think she even believed him. The more An Yin thought about it, the angrier she got.
"Bao Cheng, will you confess this to Keke?" An Yin wanted to know his answer.
"I haven’t decided yet!" If An Yin hadn’t caught him, Bao Cheng absolutely wouldn’t come clean to Jiang Keke. Less trouble is better, in his eyes, women are intolerant of the slightest slip. If he actually confessed to cheating, Jiang Keke would definitely cause a scene. He didn’t want to create trouble for himself.
Now that An Yin already knew, who knows when she might tell Jiang Keke. Bao Cheng scratched his head, feeling particularly annoyed.
An Yin saw him looking troubled and couldn’t help murmuring, "If only you knew earlier, why bother now."
Bao Cheng, "..." He used to think that apart from being beautiful, Jiang Keke’s best friend was timid and insignificant, yet today’s encounter made him realize that she was quite protective.
Since she cared so much about Jiang Keke, Bao Cheng had a sudden flash of inspiration, "An Yin, I don’t want to betray Keke either."
