Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Scumbag
An Ying stared blankly, unmoved by Doctor Huang’s words.
An Yin noticed her mother’s dazed state and reached out to pat An Ying’s arm, "Mom, Doctor Huang is talking to you!"
Interrupted from her deep thoughts, An Ying looked at Doctor Huang with some panic, "Sorry, what did you say just now?"
"It’s nothing really, just noticed that you seem quite interested in entertainment news," Doctor Huang looked at her oval face, her features like a painting, feeling his heart race. As a doctor, he knew what this meant!
"I look at it occasionally," An Ying answered absent-mindedly.
Just at that moment, the waiter brought the hotpot, and everyone missed the trace of worry lingering in An Ying’s eyes.
"I’ve placed the side dishes for the hotpot on this rack here. When you’re ready to cook them, just help yourselves!" The waiter said hurriedly before leaving.
An Yin eagerly picked up her chopsticks.
Doctor Huang didn’t rush, instead poured everyone a cup of corn juice before picking up his chopsticks.
"Thank you, Doctor Huang," An Yin praised him for his gentlemanly behavior.
Doctor Huang smiled.
Seeing this, An Ying, who had been keeping her head down, slightly raised it, looking a bit unnatural, "Let’s eat the fish!"
"Okay!"
With just one word from An Ying, Doctor Huang replied joyfully.
Throughout the meal, An Yin focused entirely on the fish, occasionally glancing at Ms. An and Doctor Huang while sipping corn juice. Seeing Ms. An’s courteous demeanor, An Yin withdrew her gaze.
Even though An Yin didn’t understand much about matters of love, she could see that Ms. An was always maintaining her distance from Doctor Huang.
Feelings can’t be forced!
If Ms. An truly has no interest in Doctor Huang, she shouldn’t put any undue pressure on her by saying inappropriate things, An Yin pondered.
She hoped Ms. An would pursue happiness, but only on the condition that she wouldn’t settle!
At the end of the meal, it was Doctor Huang who ended up paying the bill.
An Ying felt deeply helpless!
The three said their goodbyes in front of the clinic; as they turned and walked through the clinic door, Doctor Huang watched the backs of the mother and daughter as they slowly faded into the distance, with unspoken words lingering on his lips.
Xiao Tao came out of the check-up room and saw Doctor Huang standing energetically at the door, lost in thought. What felt eerie was the smile that lingered on Doctor Huang’s face; it gave Xiao Tao the creeps, making her too anxious to ponder his thoughts, as she urged, "Doctor Huang, there’s a child who got a fishbone stuck. Come and have a look quickly."
Doctor Huang, "..."
On the other side.
When the mother and daughter returned to the sixth floor, An Yin patted her slightly bulging stomach, looking satisfied and full, "Their grilled fish is really delicious!"
An Ying smiled but didn’t follow her daughter’s topic, instead displaying a sense of fatigue, "Are you going to school today or tomorrow?"
An Yin glanced at Ms. An’s foot with hesitation. She had only asked Shi Qing for a one-day leave from her job at the bar, but she was worried about leaving Ms. An alone at home. Caught in a dilemma, An Ying seemed to notice her daughter’s concerns and spoke first, "If there’s something at school, go early. Don’t worry about my foot injury; it’s really nothing."
An Yin observed Ms. An’s determined attitude and muttered, "Then take good care of yourself at home. Leave the bookstore to the staff for now. Also, remember, the doctor advised regular breast screenings; don’t neglect them!"
"Got it!" Listening to her daughter’s nagging words, a tender warmth appeared in An Ying’s eyes.
It seemed like just yesterday this little girl was a baby, and now she had turned into a caring and thoughtful daughter! An Ying felt her fragmented heart being healed at that moment by the young girl’s touch.
An Ying helped her daughter pack her luggage simply.
And watched as An Yin carried her suitcase downstairs.
An Ying originally wanted to accompany her daughter downstairs, but An Yin refused. Having walked so much today, her ankle truly ached slightly, though An Ying did not tell her daughter this.
After closing the door, An Ying went to the small balcony connected to the living room, waited for a while before seeing her daughter dragging her suitcase out of the building, and soon, An Yin’s figure disappeared around the corner.
An Ying stood frozen in place, then turned and went into the bedroom, skillfully opening the drawer of the bedside table, taking out a box. The key to the box was beside it, but this time, she didn’t open it as usual.
Her deep gaze lingered on the box for a long time, until a layer of tears gathered in her clear eyes, making everything seem blurry. The close-up view of the box was now hard to discern as her tears, like raindrops, started falling, quickly expanding the wet spot on her pant leg.
"Asshole, you’re an asshole..."
Accompanied by her sobs, a curse flowed slowly from An Ying’s mouth.
The afternoon sun was blocked by clouds at some point, a fresh fragrance of vegetation enveloped the air, but inexplicably it gave a suffocating feeling of tension.
After An Yin returned to the dormitory, it started pouring outside, and she stood on the balcony watching the drizzle while sighing in her heart: If she had been delayed on the road, she might have become a drenched chick by now!
This rain came at just the right time!
After arranging her suitcase, An Yin noticed the other bed in the dormitory.
It belongs to Yan Lan; the warm-colored bed curtain concealed the situation on the bed, making it unclear if anyone was inside!
Unable to worry about it, An Yin suddenly felt a pain in her abdomen, realizing something was wrong, and quickly headed to the bathroom.
Indeed, her period had started!
After loitering inside for half an hour, An Yin finally emerged from the bathroom, listless.
There was still over an hour before work started, so An Yin climbed into bed, set the alarm, and napped for a while.
The alarm rang, and An Yin hurriedly got up, barely having time to eat dinner, and headed straight to "Night Charm."
When she arrived at the locker room, Shi Qing had already changed into her work uniform.
"Shi Qing, wait for me!" Not wanting to be alone, An Yin called out to Shi Qing, who was about to step out the door.
"Oh." Shi Qing glimpsed An Yin’s crystal clear eyes, paused for a moment, and agreed readily.
An Yin smiled and quickly dashed to the locker room.
Standing there, Shi Qing’s face remained expressionless and placid.
Once An Yin came out of the locker room, she hurried over to Shi Qing, "Let’s go."
Shi Qing did not respond, walking ahead.
An Yin was becoming accustomed to Shi Qing’s icy demeanor, and seeing her silent, she didn’t overthink it; instead, she followed closely behind Shi Qing.
An Yin found her work quite simple, considering it to be just "standing guard" – attending to the VIP box door, opening and closing it for customers.
