Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Never give up
I let a smile fall on my lips. "Hey, Sam," I greeted with a small wave. "I finally managed to catch you," I commented casually.
He arched a brow at me. "What do you mean that you finally managed to catch me?" He questioned as his eyes burned with curiosity. Then all of a sudden, it finally clicked inside his head. "Have you been waiting for me?"
"Mhmm..." I muttered under my breath as I nodded lightly. "I wanted to talk to you."
"You know..." he began, his voice trailing off. "If this is about your ex-husband and his dreams, then there’s nothing much I can do," he said blatantly, going straight to the point, much to my disappointment.
My face fell in an instant, thinking that my plan had to be put on hold, but I found a new wave of determination that washed over me and mostly a thirst for revenge, after all, revenge is a dish best served cold.
He was just about to walk off when I stopped him. "Sam, wait!" I called out and he halted in his steps and turned around to face me.
"What is it?" He asked, his tone slightly impatient. "I don’t have time for this."
"Could you please just hear me out?" I pleaded, my voice laced with a hint of desperation as we locked eyes. There was a brief pause as silence lapsed between us for a moment before I spoke up once again. "I really want things to work out for him."
He let out a soft sigh and he stepped forward to close the gap between us. "Why is that, Aurellia? He assaulted and berated you yesterday," he reminded me as a small frown crept onto his face. "Why are you still doing all these for him?"
"My answer is still the same as before," I replied meekly in a soft voice. "It’s because I want to be the one to support his dreams and passion even though we are separated."
"Look, I would love to help you and give him a chance... but after what he did yesterday? I can’t support that type of behaviour. It’s going to be difficult and frankly speaking, I don’t think he is cut out for this."
I exhaled deeply. "I know... He’s not great at controlling his temper, but just give him some time and he can work on it," I explained frantically, trying my best to get him to understand my point of view. "Besides, his films have potential, they are great, I have seen them myself personally," I added, vouching for him, it was the last thing I thought I would have done.
A deep chuckle emerged from his throat. "You were his wife, of course you would see the potential and proclaim that they are great. Who’s partner wouldn’t do that for them? You are looking at this through rose-tinted glasses."
"But I –"
He glanced down to look at his watch before meeting my gaze again. "Sorry, I got to go," he interrupted, cutting me off before I could complete my sentence. He placed his hand on my back, giving me a firm pat before letting the next few words roll off the tip of his tongue. "But just a word of advice, that man isn’t worth it."
With that said, he turned to leave, rendering me speechless as I stared at his retreating back that disappeared around the corner and I was left feeling defeated.
But that wasn’t the end, I wasn’t planning on giving up. Instead, day after day, I would go back to the studio, waiting for him to appear so I could try to convince him again and each time the answer was no.
That was until a week or so later when I saw him again. "Sam!" I called out with a huge grin that was stretched across my face as I waved at him enthusiastically before approaching him.
"How many times are you going to do this, kid?"
"Every single day until you are annoyed with me," I joked. "I’m not giving up."
A chuckle left his lips. "I’m already annoyed," he remarked jokingly as his eyes twinkled with amusement. He glanced down at my now visibly pregnant belly before looking back up to meet my gaze. "You know, I kept forgetting that you are pregnant."
"Well, yeah, sometimes I get so busy I myself would have forgotten too," I laughed.
I saw the way the gears in his head were shifting as he contemplated something. Somewhere in between, he must have felt bad for me, maybe he even thought that I was pitiful because his gaze softened and his tough and seemingly cold demeanour shifted entirely in the next second.
"Actually..." he drawled and I looked at him with anticipation swirling in the depths of my eyes.
"What?"
"You know what? Let me see what I can do," he finally announced, giving in to my request and my heart was filled with excitement, to say I was overjoyed was an understatement. "But...I do not wish to see your face anymore after today," he teased as a slight smile played on his lips.
"Wiat, really?" I blurted out as my eyes lit up in an instant. I jumped forward to throw my arms around him, giving him a friendly hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I owe you big time!"
He laughed before gently pushing me off his body. "Your ex-husband is the one that owes you."
I smiled. "Yeah, you are right."

I was just leaving the office when I caught sight of a familiar figure standing to the side of the office lobby. Recognition flashed past my dark brown eyes and I immediately knew who it was.
I picked up speed, walking away faster than usual, simply because I didn’t want to find myself thrown into another endless argument. I am tired as it is.
I was just about to step out of the front door when I felt someone tightly grab me by my wrist, holding me back. A soft gasp of surprise left my parted lips at the sudden touch.
That was when I heard the familiar voice begin to taunt me once again.
"You were walking pretty fast, where are you heading off to?"
