Pampered by my Billionaire CEO Husband
Chapter 103: This is karma!

Chapter 103: Chapter 103: This is karma!

I whipped my head around in an instant and found myself staring into a pair of familiar green eyes. Recognition washed over me almost immediately, it was Evelyn who was standing before my eyes as she continued to snap pictures of Bryce and I together.

A frown quickly crept onto my face, resting between my brows as I narrowed my eyes into thin slits and glared at her. "What are you doing here?" I sneered with a disdainful scorn and my appetite diminished within the next second.

A low chuckle left her parted lips as she kept her gaze on me. She kept her phone back in her purse and folded her arms over her chest. A knowing look gleaming in her eyes and a smirk tugged at the corners of her lips. "What am I doing here?" She repeated smugly, arrogance radiating from every inch of her skin. "In case you are unaware, this is a public place. Do I need your permission to be here?" She snarled, the words that left her lips were coated with a thick layer of venom.

I continued to glare at her while Bryce spoke up, his deep voice slicing through the tension that was already starting to brew in the air between us.

"Who is this?"

"This is the woman who insists that my husband belongs to her and that I stole him from her," I answered coldly as I kept my gaze on Evelyn.

"Right..." he muttered under his breath and the corners of his lips twitched upwards into a smile. "I heard a lot about you."

A frown appeared on her face as soon as the words left my lips, clearly unhappy with me. She let out a loud scoff, her eyes boring right into mine. "He was mine before he married you," she snapped.

I couldn’t hold back the laughter that escaped my lips. I arched my brow at her. "Are you even listening to yourself right now?" I questioned, my tone carrying a slight edge to it. "You are missing the keyword. ’Was’... he was yours but now he is mine," I retorted.

"You –!"

"Things change, Evelyn," I said curtly, cutting her off before she could finish her sentence. "He’s no longer yours, and I think it’s time for you to accept it."

Another loud scoff emerged from her throat this time. She raised her brow at me. "Accept it?" She asked, tossing my words back at me. A mixture of disdain and contempt was swirling in the depths of her eyes. "Why should I accept it when you are out here prancing around with another man as a married woman?" She spat the words out like they were poison in her mouth, her words dripping with accusation.

Her eyes flickered down to glance at my tummy, noticing that my obvious baby bump was now gone. "You gave birth to your child and now you are already out on a date with another man," she hissed. "What would Xavier think about this?" She taunted with a smug look that was stretched across her face, as a smirk morphed itself onto her lips.

Her words sent a flood of memories back into my mind and I was quickly reminded of the day I lost my child. I could feel my heart starting to pound loudly against my chest and I clenched my fists tightly beside me, anger coursing through every single vein inside of me.

I rose from my seat this time, standing up on both feet, staring at her with an intense look in my eyes. "Don’t talk about my child," I warned through gritted teeth, my voice already shaking with rage as my face darkened visibly.

The smirk that was already plastered across her face widened as she stepped forward, closing the gap between us. "Why not? Did I touch a nerve?" She taunted, her words laced with malice as she looked at me while I drew in deep breaths. "Did you lose him or something?" She mocked, letting out a snicker.

Impulse clouded my judgement in a split second and I could no longer control the rage that was spreading inside of me like a wildfire. All sense of rationality and calmness was thrown right out of the window as I raised my arm and slapped her right across her cheek.

Loud gasps erupted from the crowd who was watching us the entire time, looks of surprise and shock were plastered across their faces. Bryce looked equally shocked to see me lose my temper too.

"You are testing my limits, Evelyn Lloyd," I snarled, my dark eyes burning with a fiery blaze.

She held onto her now red cheek as she glared at me. She was laughing out of embarrassment. "So I was right? You did lose your child, didn’t you?" She questioned smugly. "That’s what you get for stealing my boyfriend. This is your karma!" She shrieked, her shrill voice ringing in my ears.

Bryce stood up this time, coming to stand in front of Evelyn. He looked down at her as his features hardened, his face bored a stoic expression.

"That’s enough," he warned. "You have crossed the line this time."

"Have I?" She challenged. "I was just asking her a question. How exactly have I crossed the line?" She questioned, playing innocent as she batted her lashes.

"Do you really not know or are you just stupid?" He asked bluntly.

Her eyes grew wide with anger and her cheeks were flushed red, taken aback by his crudeness. "Did you just call me stupid? Do you know who I am?!"

"I know and I simply don’t care."

"Isn’t it shocking to find out that nobody actually cares if you are rich?" I mocked, chiming in.

She was rendered speechless at that moment, the gears were shifting in her head but she was struggling to find the right words to say. She simply stared at him with a blank look plastered across her face for a while before she finally spoke up.

"Well, you two are going to regret this," she threatened, her eyes darting between the both of us as she narrowed her eyes and the frown etched onto her face deepened.

I let out a soft chuckle. "You say that many times, Evelyn. But I never once found myself regretting any of it at all. Isn’t that funny?"

She stomped her foot on the ground as if she was throwing a temper tantrum. "This time will be different!" Before I knew it, she was marching towards me in anger. "You won’t find it so funny anymore the next time. Why don’t you go home and rest? It must be tough on your body after losing a child."

A rush of anger surged through my body in the next second and without a single warning, I collapsed onto the ground.

The last thing I heard was Bryce calling out to me. "Aurelia!"
