Pampered by my Billionaire CEO Husband
Chapter 101: You were right

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: You were right

"It’s good to see you too, Bryce Weston. I can finally put a face to your voice after all this time," I said as the corners of my lips also curved upwards into a smile and he let out a low chuckle, running his hand through his dark hair. He was the private investigator I have been working with and it’s finally the day where we meet. "I’m excited to hear more from you," I commented as I gestured for him to come take a seat after the door was closed behind him.

This time a small smirk was etched onto my lips.

I watched as he walked over, closing the distance between us in a few large strides before he pulled the chair out from under the table and plopped right down, getting comfortable.

His dark brown eyes were gleaming with a knowing look and a slight smirk tugged at the corners of his lips. He leaned over to unzip his briefcase and I watched with curious eyes as he pulled out a piece of plain envelope from inside and placed it onto the table between us.

Silence enveloped us for a brief moment as anticipation lingered in the air.

My eyes flickered down to glance at the unassuming piece of envelope as he leaned back into the seat with a relaxed expression that masked his features. He crossed his arms over his chest and our gazes matched.

"I got the details you requested for, Mrs Wilder," he announced. He raised his brow as he looked over at me, leaning in closer towards me, his deep voice dropped to a hush tone. "But that’s not all. I found out much more and I thought it would be helpful," he revealed, his voice laced with a hint of excitement despite the serious expression that stretched across his face.

I arched my brow at him. "Tell me more."

The smirk that was already plastered across his face widened this time. "Gladly." He pulled out the papers and documents from inside the envelope and placed them on the table for me to see. "Here’s a summary of what I have found."

He continued. "You were right about Stella. I have tracked the IP address of the email sent from the unknown user. Stella was indeed the one who sent that email to you and the entire office, incriminating your ex-husband of bribery. I also gathered all the evidence of Blake’s bribery during his time at your company. Well, actually, long before he was working here, he had already been engaging in bribery across multiple firms, but was never caught for it."

He placed all the evidence neatly in front of me as he explained.

I let out a breath as a soft chuckle emerged from my throat. "I knew it," I muttered under my breath. "The timing was too much of a coincidence. She definitely sent that email to get him fired from the job so that I wouldn’t have the chance to be close to him in the office. But she never once thought about the consequences of doing so, and how it might just ruin his entire life, just for a moment of satisfaction and to keep him away from me."

Bryce nodded. "You are smart. I guess women’s instincts never lie," he commented casually. "She is impulsive and reckless, I must say. And dumb, for the lack of a better word."

A laughter slipped through the gaps of my fingers. "Oh, definitely. But well, thanks to this, I finally have something that I could hold against her and that stupid ex-husband of mine." I leaned back into my seat, pondering for a while as my mind buzzed with thoughts. "She may not be caught for causing me to lose my child, but her life would be ruined one day and so will his. And I can’t wait for that day to be here. Just wait till I find the perfect moment for this."

"Patience, Aurelia. As long as you keep working with me, that day will come," he said, shooting me a playful wink, eliciting a laugh from me.

"I trust you," I said as we locked eyes and silence stretched between us for a while before I spoke up once again. "Anyway, you said there’s more, didn’t you? So... what is it?" I questioned with a raised brow, curiosity swirling in the depths of my eyes as I waited for his answer.

He smiled. "Thought you would never ask." He pulled out more pictures from the same envelope, tossing them onto the desk with a soft thud.

My eyes naturally glanced down to look at the pictures on full display and recognition flashed past my eyes in an instant. I recognised the woman in the images, it was Stella. Her lips were stretched into a bright smile and she had her arms clinging around a man, other pictures showed them hugging or kissing.

The man in the pictures looked vaguely familiar but I couldn’t exactly pinpoint it at that moment. Until, it finally clicked inside my head as realisation dawned upon me. "It’s him!" I exclaimed. I recognised that man now, I have seen him a couple of times back when I was still together with Blake. "He was the man that she used to date for a period of time. Have they been together this whole time?" I asked, my tone laced with a hint of surprise and anticipation.

"Bingo," the word rolled off the tip of his tongue. "They have been dating on and off for over a year or two now. There was never a clean break. She was going back and forth between him and your ex-husband."

I let out a scoff. "What else could I have expected from her?"

"And also..." he began, his voice trailing off. "That other man she is seeing... He’s married with two kids, 2 and 4," he announced, placing down a picture of the man together with his wife and kids, it was a picture taken in one of those photo studios.

I picked up the picture and carefully examined it. "They are adorable..." I muttered softly as I kept my gaze fixated on the image I was holding in my hands. "I guess Stella has a habit of breaking apart people’s marriages, doesn’t she? Does his wife know about this?"

"Nope," he said, popping the ’p’. "He’s really good at keeping it a secret. Disguising everything as a business trip or overtime while his wife stayed home with the kids, watching them the entire time without a single suspicion."

I exhaled deeply as I lowered my head. "Poor woman. We need to tell her."

"But if you tell her now, wouldn’t that ruin your plan?" He cautioned. "Stella will definitely find out that someone knows about their secret relationship. And the first person that would pop into her mind, would certainly be you," he explained as he pointed at me with his finger.

A smirk morphed itself onto my lips this time as I raised my brow at him.

"What makes you think she is going to find out?"

***

Bryce had given me their home address, warning me to thread carefully.

I thought about it for a while now before I eventually ended up standing at the front porch to her house, ringing the doorbell. Sending a text or email would be way too risky, I wouldn’t want to leave any traces of our conversation online or risk having her husband see it himself. The door flew open and a soft, gentle voice reached my ears, breaking me out of my little reverie.

"Hey," she greeted with a demure smile, her light brown eyes boring into mine and her honey blonde hair was tied up into a messy bun. She looked no more than a few years older than I am. "Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked politely, and I looked down to see her two kids clinging onto her legs, hiding behind her.

I smiled, letting my lips curve upwards. I waved at them before I looked back up to meet her eyes again. "Hi, I’m Aurelia," I said as I stretched my hand out towards her and she shook it. There was a brief moment of pause as I hesitated, not knowing how to say this without breaking her heart. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I thought that she deserves to know. My mind continued to buzz with thoughts as my heart pounded against my chest. I cleared my throat audibly.

"There’s something I thought you should know."

Her eyes grew wide as she looked at me with her brows furrowed together, forming a tiny frown on her face. A puzzled expression masked her delicate features. "What... what are you... do I know you?" She questioned as she took a step back.

"You don’t know me, but I know your husband. Well... sort of," I quickly added. I let out a sigh. "I don’t know how to tell you this."

A surprise gasp left her parted lips and her hands flew to cover her mouth. "Is he cheating on me with you?"

My eyes widened in an instant as I frantically shook my head. "No!" I exclaimed within the next second. "Not me. I hate to be the one telling you this but... your husband is cheating on you with another woman."
