Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 423: Want to Be Friends with You

Chapter 423: Want to Be Friends with You

The lounge was just a few steps away from the conference room. The long-legged secretary soon brought them some snacks and tea.

"I’m really sorry, Mrs. Sterling! I didn’t know your identity the first time we met, so I acted rudely. I hope you don’t mind," Riley Turner apologized to Emma Hart as soon as they sat down.

Emma Hart found her apology amusing. What did it matter? Besides, she had voluntarily helped Riley Turner at that time.

"It was just a small favor, nothing as serious as you say," Emma Hart smiled. After all, Riley was the daughter of the Lin Group’s president, and it was admirable for someone of her status to take on an assistant’s job.

The two then started chatting casually. Riley Turner, a senior in the business school, was interning at her father’s company. To avoid special treatment, she had concealed her identity, which Emma Hart understood, having had similar experiences herself. She also began to understand Riley Turner’s previous inappropriate remarks—she was just an inexperienced student.

Riley Turner sat beside Emma Hart, very reserved, as if trying to protect her budding flower.

"So, what are your plans for the future? Will you stay with the Lin Group?" Emma Hart asked.

Riley Turner hesitated and shook her head, saying she wasn’t sure yet.

Emma Hart then shared her career path, hoping it would help Riley Turner grow.

Their relationship gradually became more relaxed.

"Mrs. Sterling, can I add you on social media? I’m alone in society, don’t know much, and don’t know many people. I feel useless and insecure, but after meeting you, I feel like I’ve seen the sunshine," Riley Turner said, blushing.

Hearing Riley Turner’s metaphor, Emma Hart couldn’t help but smile. This young girl was quite interesting.

"Of course, you can! I’d love to have someone accompany me shopping. And just call me ’sister’ from now on, no need to be so formal!" Emma Hart said with a cheerful smile.

Riley Turner nodded happily and took out a delicate small paper bag from her pocket. "I made some handmade cookies this morning. Try them, Sister Emma!"

The meeting between the Sterling Group and the Turner Group lasted a full three hours. The men eventually found their beloved women waiting outside to join them for dinner.

"Mr. Sterling, would you care to join us for dinner tonight?" Mr. Turner said, raising an eyebrow and nudging Damien Sterling with his elbow.

"Sorry, Mr. Turner, Emma and I have some plans tonight. We’ll definitely make it up next time," Damien Sterling politely declined.

The father and daughter felt a bit disappointed.

"Then we won’t force it. Let’s meet up another time!" Mr. Turner agreed readily.

Damien Sterling and Emma Hart escorted the Turner father and daughter downstairs, where their car had been waiting.

Seeing his boss, the driver quickly got out and opened the car door.

"Alright, we’ll head back now. You must come over for dinner sometime!" Mr. Turner emphasized.

"Mr. Sterling, Sister Emma, see you next time!" Riley Turner said politely.

Damien Sterling and Emma Hart responded in kind.

The large business car gradually drove away.

"We should be heading back," Damien Sterling said.

"Oh, I left my bag in your office, I need to go get it!" Emma Hart exclaimed.

"I’ll go with you." Damien Sterling glanced at his phone, then grabbed Emma Hart’s hand and quickly walked towards the elevator, forcing Emma Hart to jog to keep up.

He didn’t want Emma Hart to take the elevator alone; there had been an incident with it earlier today, and he didn’t want a repeat of that. He made a mental note to call for maintenance first thing tomorrow.

The atmosphere inside the elevator was uncomfortably cold and silent.

Damien Sterling stood with his hands in his pockets, watching the numbers rise.

"What did you and Mr. Harrington’s daughter talk about today? You seemed to get along quite well," Damien Sterling asked.

"Just some casual conversation. Oh, and her cookies were delicious! I wanted to save some for you, but we ended up eating them all. She’s really sweet; I even added her on WeChat!" Emma Hart said, happy to have made a new friend.

"It’s too early to tell. You should always be cautious," Damien Sterling replied with a cold smile, dampening her excitement.

"By the way, do we have any plans tonight? I don’t remember anything," Emma Hart asked.

Damien Sterling was silent for a moment before saying, "Isn’t it nice to spend a quiet evening at home together?" In truth, they had no other plans tonight, but Damien Sterling preferred a quiet night at home over the lively atmosphere at Mr. Turner’s house. He’d rather have a quiet dinner and then retreat to their bedroom.

"You’re so annoying," Emma Hart said playfully.

Damien Sterling chuckled.

The elevator arrived at their floor, and the lights in the office were still on. Their long-legged secretary was tidying up, ready to go home, and Lucy Allen was standing nearby.

"Is there something you need, Director Allen?" Damien Sterling asked coldly.

"I’m here to deliver the enhanced Peach Blossom Town design proposal. I’ve given it to your secretary. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving," Lucy Allen said, swaying her hips as she walked towards the elevator. As she passed Emma Hart, she whispered, "You’d better keep an eye on your man!"

Emma Hart’s heart skipped a beat, and she couldn’t help but watch Lucy Allen’s departing figure. What did she mean by that?

Damien Sterling entered his office, retrieved Emma Hart’s bag, and came back out.

Seeing Emma Hart’s suddenly complex expression, Damien Sterling asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing, let’s go home. I’m starving!" Emma Hart said, linking her arm with Damien Sterling’s as they left the office.

At dinner, Emma Hart received an invitation from Riley Turner for the weekend.

"Riley Turner wants us to join him at his place on Saturday. What do you think?" Emma Hart asked, leaning towards Damien Sterling.

He thought for a moment while eating. "I have a meeting on Saturday, but you can go and hang out with her. I’ll come pick you up after my meeting."

Emma Hart felt a bit strange. Where had the Damien Sterling who always wanted to keep her at home gone? She suddenly felt like pinching his face to see if he was an imposter.

Seeing her greasy fingers from the chicken she had just eaten moving towards his face, Damien Sterling quickly said, "Keep your dirty hands away!"

Emma Hart pulled her hands back, feeling relieved. If he was still scolding her, everything was normal.
