Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 273: His Weakness

Chapter 273: His Weakness

Emma Hart greeted Mrs. Harris with a broad smile as soon as she opened the door. Mrs. Harris, seemingly surprised by Emma’s return, examined her closely. "Emma, I has missed you terribly. I kept thinking why send you to the hospital when home is so much more comfortable. With a private doctor on call, I was worried they wouldn’t take good care of you there."

"Mrs. Harris, I’m fine. The hospital was quite accommodating, and you should rest well at home too."

Outside, the cold wind howled. Mrs. Harris quickly pulled Emma inside. "Look at me, talking away and forgetting to bring you in!" As she glanced at the storm brewing outside, a hint of concern crossed her face. "Oh no, I forgot to pack Mr. Sterling a heavier coat, I wonder if..."

With Mrs. Harris’s concern evident, Emma furrowed her brow briefly, but quickly dismissed it, thinking she should worry more about herself than that man. "Don’t worry, Mrs. Harris, what could possibly happen to him?"

As Emma walked towards the house, a voice leisurely followed her from behind, "Just knew it—women are the most heartless!"

Emma froze. That voice?

She turned around.

Damien Sterling? Emma stared in astonishment, half-convinced the man had some sort of device to transport him wherever he wished. Had he heard what she just said?

"Did you hear everything I said?" Emma squinted, eyeing him suspiciously.

"What did you just say?" Damien casually walked towards her, motioning with his fingers for Emma to help him out of his coat.

Almost instinctively, Emma approached and began to help Damien out of his coat. Mrs. Harris silently left the room, smiling as she attended to her own tasks. Although the two seemed at odds, there was an undeniable connection between them.

"I didn’t say anything," Emma replied as she hung up the coat. The hook was quite high, and she had to tip-toe to reach it. Damien, towering and perfectly proportioned—not too bulky, not too lean, with broad shoulders and a tall frame—effortlessly took the coat from her hands to hang it on a custom-made mahogany hanger.

The mahogany was polished, its unique red lacquer finish glowing. The villa was built with ceilings much higher than typical homes, obviously not accommodating any short wardrobes.

"Really?" Damien Sterling, having hung the coat, leaned over to look at Emma Hart who found herself unexpectedly trapped beneath him. She had not managed to move away in time.

Emma felt uncomfortably constrained, expecting Damien to stand after hanging his coat, but he remained close, puzzling her with his intentions. "I’m getting cramped here," she complained intentionally.

Above her, Damien looked down at Emma, curled up like a frightened rabbit, her voice tinged with annoyance. Yet, Damien only smirked, deliberately prolonging the moment.

"Oh, where did you come from? You smell!" Emma exclaimed again.

Damien frowned slightly, lifting his arm to sniff himself. He detected no odor; it was a short trip from the car to the helicopter landing site. During this brief distraction, Emma seized the opportunity to crawl out from under him. She watched Damien seriously sniffing himself, then pinched her nose in feigned disgust. "Go take a shower," she urged.

Emma turned and walked towards the kitchen, reaching for the cherries Mrs. Harris had just washed. "Mrs. Harris, everything you buy is so tasty. I didn’t like anything at the hospital."

"As long as you like it," Mrs. Harris responded warmly.

Suddenly, Damien’s arm encircled Emma’s neck from behind, gently pulling her towards the stairs. His movements might have seemed rough, yet he was tender, carefully adjusting his grip to ensure it was firm enough to guide her without causing discomfort.

However, Emma tugged at Damien’s arm forcefully. "Are you trying to kill me?" she exclaimed, pretending to cough and beating on Damien’s arm.

"Let go, I can barely breathe!" she protested.

"Ahem..."

Damien suddenly stopped, his gaze fixing on Emma. Under his intense stare, she lowered her head, murmuring, "It really hurts!"

Unexpectedly, Damien bent down and swept Emma into a bridal carry, his face expressionless as ever.

"Hey!" Emma Hart was suddenly lifted off the ground, startling her, though not entirely unexpected given Damien Sterling’s strong physique—it was no challenge for him to pick her up.

But why was he carrying her as soon as he got back?

"Put me down! What are you doing?"

"We’re going to take a shower!"

"Why?"

Damien’s steps were steady as he gazed down at Emma, a playful smirk on his lips. "Didn’t you say I smelled?"

He spoke casually, his cool gaze mocking from above, filled with teasing.

So, it was a trap! Emma had dug herself into a hole!

What to do now? She frantically searched for a way out. She certainly didn’t want to bathe him—knowing his thick-skinned nature, he probably had women bathe him before. Emma definitely did not want to!

"I... don’t want to!"

"Too late!" Damien declared, walking towards the bedroom and kicking the door open with one foot.

As they entered, Emma plunged headfirst into Damien’s embrace, taking a deep breath. There was actually no scent, just a faint fragrance. Where was the strange smell she claimed? It was all just a careless comment, her own fabrication!

It was just something she said on a whim!

"Wow, you smell great!" Emma exclaimed, her face a mix of delight and concern as she looked up at him, worried Damien might insist on that bath.

Damien looked at her in astonishment, her blushing face clearly one that could not withstand any interrogation.

"You really don’t need a bath!" Emma insisted firmly.

"I told you! It’s too late!"

"No, please no!"

...

Emma Hart couldn’t escape her fate!

Downstairs, Mrs. Harris worked while occasionally glancing upstairs, listening to Emma’s loud protests, her face wearing a smile. What an amusing pair they were.

Whatever heroic act Emma had attempted, Damien Sterling had managed her yet again. No matter how clever or quirky Emma was, it seemed Damien always had a way to handle her.

He weakness, it seemed, was just like that.
