Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 242: I Just Like Older Women

Chapter 242: I Just Like Older Women

Emma Hart felt that Amelia Davidson was perhaps overemphasizing the risks a bit. She glanced over her design drafts with a laugh and looked at Amelia incredulously, "Steal my designs? Really? Am I that good?"

Emma saw this possibility as a form of flattery and recognition of her talents, something to be proud of rather than concerned about.

"Enough!" Amelia responded, exasperated like someone playing music to a cow—unappreciated and pointless. She decided it was best to let Emma live in her bubble, untouched by the world’s darker realities.

Sometimes, Amelia was genuinely touched by Emma’s innocence; albeit a bit naive, it was a refreshing purity seldom seen nowadays. Emma’s blend of foolishness and kindness was oddly compelling to Amelia, far preferable to the hardened cynicism bred by societal grind.

It was lunchtime.

Amelia’s phone buzzed, and she waggled it at Emma, "Let’s go. I’m treating you to a big meal."

"What’s the occasion?" Emma asked curiously.

Amelia brought her phone closer, showing Emma the text from Logan Harrington.

"He hasn’t given up yet?" Emma exclaimed, surprised by the persistence of such a wealthy bachelor, which was beyond her expectations of Logan’s character. "He really is quite tenacious."

"He probably enjoys the chase more than anything," Amelia remarked casually, a calm acceptance in her eyes that might be the most attractive a woman could look—hopeful yet not desperate for love, independent yet open.

Watching Amelia, Emma couldn’t help but notice a slight smile on her face, a sign that her usual indifference to romance might be waning. "If that’s the case, Logan must be quite something."

Emma teased, "And what about you? What are you enjoying? With Logan not missing a single meal, tea, or late-night snack, he’s really going all out."

Amelia rolled her eyes, "I’ve gained nearly five pounds recently, and buying new clothes is costing me more than those meals!"

Emma laughed, "You’re a clever woman indeed!"

The design department had already emptied out; Emma and Amelia were the last to leave, having lingered in conversation after everyone else had gone.

From a distance, Logan Harrington was dressed to impress yet again. Emma Hart took a moment to observe him, nudging Amelia Davidson with a playful jab. As Amelia looked up, a faint smile appeared in her eyes, suggesting she might not despise him as much as she used to. But was that really the case?

As Logan approached, Emma remembered his usual lunch invitation. She excused herself to the ladies’ room, a pretext to inform him of her plans, hoping to join them for lunch. "You two chat, I’ll be right back," she said, passing by with a grin.

The thought of Logan’s roguish charm meeting Amelia’s no-nonsense attitude amused Emma. She imagined the sparks that might fly between them, marveling at the wonders of the world.

No sooner had Emma left than Logan, with a swift movement, pulled Amelia against the wall. His arms framed her face, his practiced maneuver so smooth it seemed he must have rehearsed at home. Amelia’s heart raced as she fixed her gaze on Logan standing close, his sunlit, tousled hair and smooth skin broadcasting his youth. His mischievous smile and the tilt of his lips as his nose edged closer left her breathless.

Logan studied every inch of Amelia’s skin, intoxicated by her presence. He couldn’t explain it, but he was incredibly drawn to her. Leaning in, their lips were about to touch...

For the first time, Logan felt his heart pounding, reminiscent of their very first meeting. Just as he moved closer, about to seal their moment...

"Ah!" A scream escaped Logan as his foot was viciously stepped on by Amelia, not holding back at all.

In pain, Logan could no longer care about keeping his arm against the wall and began nursing his foot, howling in agony.

From a distance, Amelia looked at him with disdain, muttering, "Serves you right!"

"You really are vicious!" Logan grimaced, holding his foot.

Amelia clapped her hands dismissively and moved away from the wall, shooting Logan a look, "You’re just realizing this now?"

Logan shouted, "Don’t girls like being pinned against the wall? Is it because I’m not handsome enough, or is my pose not cool enough?"

Where did he get such absurd ideas? Amelia found herself suddenly amused by Logan’s antics. He really went to great lengths for her, but alas...

"I am not a girl! I am an older woman!" Amelia Davidson declared confidently, clearly unbothered by the labels of girl or woman, not even flinching at the prospect of prefacing "woman" with "older."

Logan Harrington, with a mischievous grin, leaned in, dropping the complaint about his foot. "Heh, I have a thing for older women!"

Amelia glanced at Logan’s cheeky expression. For Logan, who had always favored the pretty-boy look, falling for a woman like Amelia was something he never anticipated. Even a mere smile from her could sweep him off his feet, a far cry from his usual flings.

Meanwhile, down the hallway, Emma Hart was on the phone with Damien Sterling.

"Hey, can I go to dinner with Amelia Davidson and Logan Harrington?"

"Logan Harrington?" Damien’s tone sharpened at the mention of a man’s name, despite it being the name of a good friend.

"Yeah, is that okay?" Emma asked, her voice tinged with a plea. Skipping the dinner would surely raise Amelia’s suspicions, making it hard to refuse without revealing too much. Emma feared that her relationship with Damien might be misunderstood by those whose opinions she valued.

"Then let’s go together."

"No!" Emma responded firmly, anxious about what Damien might be plotting. How could she possibly manage going out with him?

"Fine, I’m calling Logan now," Damien said decisively before hanging up.

Emma hung up, her gaze fixed on her phone screen, suddenly losing all appetite for the dinner.

In the design department corridor, Amelia walked by, looked up at the surveillance camera, and then turned back to glance at the scene of their recent encounter, knowing it needed to be addressed promptly.
