Chapter 970: Chapter 963: Gusting Yin Wind Formation

"Ah," Fulajie’er exclaimed upon hearing his words, and then anxiously asked, "Does Luo’er have a lot of girlfriends?"

"Ha, girlfriends?" When Cheng Ziang first heard Fulajie’er’s words, he was stunned for a long time before he realized she was probably referring to female friends.

"Why would you think that?" Cheng Ziang did not directly answer her question but instead asked her.

"Because, um, because Luo’er is so popular, surely many girls like him," Fulajie’er said.

"And then you think he’s been messing around?" Cheng Ziang looked at her and asked.

"Of course," Fulajie’er nodded.

"It seems you’ve never really taken the time to understand Luo’er," Cheng Ziang said with a wry smile, then shook his head.

"I, I have tried to understand, don’t just randomly stir up trouble between him and me, okay?" Fulajie’er said, frowning and complaining.

"In your mind, is Luo’er someone who likes to fool around with a lot of girls?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"Of course not, my image of Luo’er is someone very well-behaved," Fulajie’er readily argued.

"Well, there you go, then what else do you have to worry about?" Cheng Ziang shrugged and said.

"Who knows what it’s like back on Earth, maybe Luo’er is well-behaved, but other girls might intentionally seduce him," Fulajie’er muttered, pouting.

"That’s actually true," Cheng Ziang nodded in agreement.

"Really?" Fulajie’er’s eyes widened, and her complexion suddenly changed.

"Of course, it’s true, but," Cheng Ziang shook his head and then continued, "you have to trust Luo’er, he definitely won’t get entangled with these girls."

"That bad woman..." Fulajie’er hesitated to ask.

"Well, how should I put it, to some extent, Luo’er doesn’t really like to be close to girls, he prefers doing what he wants," Cheng Ziang explained.

"What does that have to do with a bad woman?" Fulajie’er asked, puzzled.

Cheng Ziang sighed and then continued, "Because they had to form the Advance Team, so Luo’er had to get together with Moumou. I can see that, at the beginning, Luo’er wasn’t very interested in Moumou, but, how should I put it, companionship is the most enduring confession, right? After all they’ve been through, you can’t say Moumou hasn’t left any trace in his heart, that would be absolutely impossible."

"Companionship is the most enduring confession," Fulajie’er murmured the phrase to herself without really listening.

Cheng Ziang stopped in his tracks, then turned back to look at Fulajie’er, who was hovering in mid-air, shook his head with emotion and said, "As demigods, you live forever, and even though Luo’er has a long life, one day you will have to say goodbye to him. And if you were to be resurrected, then it would be Luo’er saying goodbye to you. Anyway, it’s hard for your life experiences to intersect, they are basically parallel paths."

Upon hearing his words, Fulajie’er lifted her head, her charming eyes revealing a hint of confusion and fear. Her body radiated a gentle glow, enveloping her in a divine halo that was almost too sacred to behold.

"Uh, you don’t have to take my words to heart, you both have a long, long road ahead of you, there’s no point in feeling sentimental at this juncture. Since you can’t bear to part with him, then spend your remaining years well with him, rather than lamenting how time flies," he said.

"White, white horse, passes, passes what?" Fulajie’er clearly did not catch the last idiom he used.

"Never mind, don’t just stand there, hurry up and follow," Cheng Ziang shook his head and then gestured with his hand.

"Ehehe," Fulajie’er suddenly displayed a smile, then spun around in mid-air a few times before flying onto Cheng Ziang’s shoulder, laughing foolishly.

"What are you giggling about?" Cheng Ziang asked, puzzled.

"Nothing, nothing," Fulajie’er squinted her eyes, then took a deep breath and said sincerely to Cheng Ziang, "Cheng Ziang, thank you. I’ve started to see you in a new light now."

"What do you mean, what image did I have in your mind before?" Cheng Ziang was stunned for a moment, then asked with a mix of laughter and helplessness.

"Never mind that, let’s hurry up. I have a feeling that thing is coming after us," Fulajie’er said as she volunteered to fly ahead to scout the way.

Hearing her warning, Cheng Ziang’s previously jovial expression suddenly froze. By this time, they had left the hall and entered a long, tube-like passageway.

This corridor was much narrower than the one in the previous tomb, which was not just a passage but also a large corridor. In contrast, this passage had no grave chambers carved on the sides, just a long tube-shaped corridor.

Using the light from the Magic Crystal flashlight, Cheng Ziang carefully walked down the damp, stone steps, noticing several blackened skeletons not far off—there were quite a few people who had died in this passageway.

Cheng Ziang was curious about just how deep this tomb was and how far these adventurers had managed to go before they were killed. Considering the speed of the Flying Head Monster, Cheng Ziang thought that the end of this passage might very well be their limit.

The passageway had been built upon a natural cave, with walls so smooth that there were hardly any signs of excavation. The only indications of such work were the wet, slippery stairs under his feet.

As he walked down the passage, Cheng Ziang occasionally saw light seeping through cracks in the rocks and even some lush, green ferns growing in the corners of the passage. The temperature here was indeed higher compared to the outside, certainly above freezing.

More importantly, the temperature inside the cave was almost constant. If it weren’t for the corpses and the elusive Flying Head Monster, Cheng Ziang thought this would be an excellent place to settle down and rest.

After taking a couple of steps forward, Cheng Ziang distinctly felt a chill wind sweep across his cheek. Given that the passage was not sealed, the presence of wind was normal. Yet, he couldn’t shake off an uneasy feeling, as if something was about to pounce on him from ahead.

Despite the light shining in, the corridor still felt overwhelmingly dark. Looking ahead into the pitch-black passage, Cheng Ziang had the impression that wild beasts lurked within, ready to pounce at his approach, a sense of oppression that made him involuntarily stop in his tracks.

"It’s coming. I’ll put up a shield for you!" Suddenly, Fulajie’er’s calm voice rang out in his mind, startling him profoundly. He turned around to see that Fulajie’er, who was supposed to be scouting ahead, had somehow returned to stand behind him.

"Hold on, wait a minute, don’t do anything rash," Cheng Ziang said, gesturing for her to stop.

"What’s up, Cheng Ziang? Have you lost your will to live?" Fulajie’er asked, baffled. As soon as she spoke, the shield that had been forming disappeared once again.

"Don’t be hasty, I’m going to try and communicate with it. Your rash actions might provoke it," Cheng Ziang said calmly.

"Luo’er told me to protect you. If you die, how will I answer to him?" Fulajie’er said as a matter of fact.

"Can you trust me? I can handle this," Cheng Ziang waved his hands as he spoke.

"Protecting you is more important. If Luo’er gets upset with me, where would I go to grieve?" Fulajie’er responded.

"Don’t worry, don’t worry, she definitely won’t harm me. I promise, okay?" Cheng Ziang said.

"Besides," Cheng Ziang suddenly changed his tone and then looked at her, "You’re right here by my side to guard me. If she attacks suddenly, you can protect me right away. You’re not telling me you can’t do something as simple as a swift spellcast, are you?"

"Who are you looking down on? There’s nothing I can’t do. Just watch," Fulajie’er, falling into his trap, responded indignantly and then vanished on the spot in the blink of an eye.

"So gullible..." Cheng Ziang covered his mouth with his hand and muttered.

Of course, he didn’t dare speak too loudly. This little girl was quite vindictive; if she realized she’d been tricked, she definitely wouldn’t let Cheng Ziang off the hook.
