Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 943 - 936: Twins Coexistence
Chapter 943: Chapter 936: Twins Coexistence
"Wow..." Fula couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise at the sight.
For her, Feng’s Magic Formulas were equally mysterious and fascinating. Because the magic Fula learned was essentially circulation type magic, casting spells by circulating magical power through her body.
But Feng was different; she typified the storage type of magic, absorbing magical power into her body for storage and releasing it when needed for spellcasting.
In fact, aside from Feng, the Advance Team had another trump card that they absolutely wouldn’t use unless it was a last resort, and that was Fulajie’er.
As mentioned before, Fulajie’er was a Demigod. Her body was completely made up of magical power, hence she could circulate magic with virtually no loss, and in principle, use Magic Formulas of infinite power.
Furthermore, her superior mobility meant that having such a god thrown into the midst of the enemy to unleash Magic Formulas was akin to tossing a tactical nuke into their ranks, with truly astonishing effects.
However, unless the Advance Team was at the brink of life and death, Luo’er would absolutely not allow Fulajie’er to take action.
Luo’er did not want Fula’s hands to be stained with blood, becoming like them. Therefore, he always used Fulajie’er as support, rather than the main force.
The reason for Luo’er’s almost naive thinking was that he felt that since Fulajie’er was a god, she should possess the qualities befitting a deity, the so-called divinity.
What divinity was, Luo’er could not clearly explain, and he didn’t even know himself. Tana, as a deity of the Magic World with supreme authority, could wield the magic of the whole world at will, but could only persuade him with some low and despicable means to go and meet his death.
Luo’er felt this might just be the essence of divinity, not acting on a whim despite one’s overwhelming strength, but adhering to one’s principles.
When Luo’er and Tangmo stepped outside, they immediately felt the bone-piercing chill. They had to hold their ground until the enemy left; otherwise, if the enemy launched another attack, they would inevitably fall into a passive situation with their lack of troops and ammunition.
A reconnaissance team couldn’t contend with a regular army’s main force, a very simple truth. No matter how strong an individual’s power, it couldn’t overshadow the advantage brought by numbers.
Certainly, the Advance Team had a higher overall combat proficiency than those mercenaries, but they were still less than ten people, whereas the opposition was an army a hundred strong. If it really came to a fight, besides activating a cheat like Feng, Luo’er really couldn’t think of how to cope with such a predicament.
Actually, this kind of battle presented not only macro-level problems but also many micro-level dilemmas, such as the fact that the Advance Team still couldn’t achieve effective real-time communication; they could only pass messages to and fro through Fulajie’er, essentially still taking on the role of a messenger.
As a result, Luo’er couldn’t grasp the situation on the battlefield in time to make judgments or coordinate troops uniformly, which was undoubtedly fatal for a fast-paced engagement.
Even though the Otherworld Research Center had been exploring ways of real-time communication in the magic community, they had yet to make a breakthrough; the most commonly used method in the Magic World was still point-to-point magic messengers, which were not only used by people from the Otherworld but also by some from Earth.
After leaving the house and walking about five hundred meters, Luo’er and Tangmo hid behind a nearby cover. Their abilities were limited; they couldn’t go on the offensive and could only be deployed to the rear to intercept enemies as best as they could.
Stepping outside left Luo’er inevitably drawing in breaths of cold air and shivering uncontrollably. Seeing this, Tangmo grabbed his hand and pressed it against his own chest.
"What are you doing!" Luo’er exclaimed in shock, quickly withdrawing his hand.
"Hey, you’re cold, aren’t you? I was just warming you up," Tangmo said, her face serene.
"Forget it, you’re just messing around again," Luo’er said expressionlessly.
"Tsk, what a stubborn man," Tangmo muttered discontentedly, then sighed and leaned back against the cover.
Luo’er watched her, his face showing a look of hesitation, as if he had something to say but was holding back. After much consideration, he still couldn’t help but speak up, "That thing, you, if you want to use magic..."
"Oh, sister sent me here, which means I must know something about magic, right?" Tangmo rolled her eyes as she spoke.
"Sent you here..." Luo’er questioned her ability.
"What, you think I’m not up to it?" Tangmo tilted her head and asked him.
"Of course not, but... you know, Moumou is the expert in this area, isn’t she?" Luo’er hesitated.
"She’s just good at rune magic. During my time undercover, I’ve already memorized spells," Tangmo said, annoyed.
"Eh, you’re actually willing to learn magic now?" Luo’er asked in surprise.
"Luo’er, what are you implying? So you think I should be clueless about magic?" Tangmo frowned and glared at him.
"Eh, no, no, I just thought... you and your sister had a good division of labor, why...?" Luo’er started but couldn’t find the right words to express himself.
"I also want to spend more time in the outside world," Tangmo sighed, then leaned against the cover, squinting as she spoke, "Most of the time, I can only hide inside this body and watch this unlucky sister’s every move. It looks like freedom, but in reality, it’s like watching someone else play games, with no sense of achievement for myself. So I thought, if I have the opportunity to control my own body, why not extend the time I can do that?"
"So you followed along and learned magic?" Luo’er asked.
"Of course, otherwise I get kicked back as soon as magic is used, which really annoys me," Tangmo affirmed.
"What does your sister think about this, then?" Luo’er continued to probe.
"What do you think? Just this attitude," Tangmo shrugged, then spread her hands and said, "Although this body is shared, she actually controls it. If she opposed, she would have jumped out by now."
"It looks like your sister is still quite fond of you, huh?" Luo’er commented.
Upon hearing his words, Tangmo instinctively stiffened, then narrowed her eyes, showing a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, and muttered, turning her head away, "Who cares, if she doesn’t come out then she doesn’t come out."
"On another note, I’ve had a question I’ve been wanting to ask you," Luo’er said, looking at her.
"What is it?" Tangmo turned to ask him.
"You... or let’s rephrase that, when did you realize that you and your sister share a body, or that you are different from the original person?" Luo’er stumbled over his words as he asked.
"Well," Tangmo didn’t avoid the question and thought for a moment before looking up and answering, "I’d say pretty early on, if we go back to the year we were born. I’ve always been watching the world as a bystander, aware that I can’t control this body, just quietly watching."
As she spoke, Tangmo gazed at Luo’er, her eyes softening: "From the first moment I saw you, I fell for you. It was me who liked you, not my sister. Whenever my sister’s gaze passed over where you were, I would watch intently, feeling satisfied just to see you."
With a gentle sigh, she continued, "Later, I found I could subtly influence my sister’s thoughts, so I started to manipulate her to get close to you, planting the liking for you in her subconscious. That’s why she was so drawn to you whenever you appeared."
"So, you mean to say, it’s only you who likes me, and your sister is forced to like me?" Luo’er asked numbly.
"Wait, hang on, please listen, I can explain, just don’t be in a hurry to come out..." Tangmo curled up, retreating backward while mumbling to herself, clearly not addressing Luo’er.
Then she raised her head, facing Luo’er’s puzzled look, slightly pursing her lips before continuing, "In fact, you should be able to tell, my sister doesn’t like you just because of me. I was just a catalyst; she genuinely likes you for your charm, she enjoys being around you, and that doesn’t have much to do with me. I just gave her the chance..."
