Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 931 - 924: Friend or Foe?

Chapter 931: Chapter 924: Friend or Foe?

"Why?" the man asked somewhat anxiously.

"No reason, just that I already have a client, and we’re splitting the profit fifty-fifty. I think it’s a better deal," Axia said over her shoulder without looking back.

"Who is it?" the man pressed.

"Confidential!" Axia turned her head back with a mocking smile on her face.

The man stared at Axia coldly and stretched his hand behind his back, surreptitiously making several hand signals. Seeing his gestures, the men he brought with him made their moves, one after another, they took the rifles off their shoulders and held them in their hands, giving Axia hostile looks.

"FAL semi-automatic, ah, once again the right hand of the free world," Cheng Ziang remarked from a distance as he eyed the weapons of these men.

"What, if we can’t come to an agreement, you want to resort to violence?" Axia, undisturbed by the danger, turned around and asked calmly.

"We require the lady’s assistance, and I’m not quite clear on whom you’ve established a cooperation with, but I hope you can cancel this partnership right now," the man said icily.

"Are you forcing a sale here?" Axia surveyed her surroundings calmly, then let out a mocking laugh, "It seems you have forgotten something, I am a mage. The moment you entered this yard, you walked straight into the magic trap I’ve set. So, are you still planning on making a move against me?"

As she spoke, she took the magic wand from her waist, then started drawing circles with the wand while muttering under her breath. Feeling the disturbance in the magical forces in the air, the man’s expression grew even uglier.

"Take your gift and scram. I want nothing to do with you, leave my sight, leave my territory," Axia threatened, looking down and fiddling with the wand in her hand.

Hearing her words, the gunmen exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions tense as they prowled nervously in place. After exchanging looks for a while, they all turned to look at their leader.

The man stared at Axia with a look of reluctance on his face. It was clear he wanted to act, but the threat of the trap meant he dared not make a move.

In fact, there were no traps in the yard at all; Axia was simply bluffing them. Her real confidence came from the advance team members lying in wait around the Dean; it was their presence that emboldened Axia to boldly and resolutely turn down these people’s offer.

"Ms. Axia, cooperating with us is all to your benefit without any harm. I still implore you to reconsider, don’t miss such a great opportunity because of a rash decision," the man said calmly.

"That’s what you said last time." Axia responded.

"Last time? We didn’t know you at all the last time," the man said and then suddenly clammed up, realizing that he had slipped up.

"I am well aware of how you people operate. Just get lost, don’t make me take action!" Axia said while waving her wand again, stirring the magic in the air.

Her threat had a great impact on the men, as none of them were mages, only possessing physical attacks. As long as Axia activated the magic array and started the defense shield, they would be left helplessly on the receiving end, unable to touch her in the slightest.

Generally, to deal with a mage like Axia, a mixed force of mages and gunmen should be used, allowing for simultaneous magical and physical attacks to overwhelm her, leaving even veteran mages struggling to defend.

However, clearly these men were not adequately prepared, having brought only gunmen. No matter how powerful and fast their weapons were, they were nearly useless against a mage, especially here in Axia’s territory, where who knows how many traps she might have laid.

"Very well, since Ms. Axia is unwilling, naturally we won’t insist. Please allow us to depart," the man said through gritted teeth, his heart reluctant, but ultimately choosing to give up.

"As you wish," Axia shrugged and stopped waving her wand, her face indifferent.

"Then we shall not disturb Ms. Axia any longer." With a clenched jaw, the man gestured and led his men back the way they had come.

Axia stood her ground, watching their retreating figures quietly. She wasn’t really seeing them off, but rather remaining vigilant, wary that they might fire at her from behind.

"Xiao Fula, keep an eye on them. See if they try to pull anything!" Cheng Ziang ordered.

"Stop calling me Xiao Fula..." Fulajie’er said weakly but instantly flew towards the group of men.

"Aunt Axia," after sending Fulajie’er away, Cheng Ziang came out from behind the tree and entered the yard, gesturing to Feng, who was far beyond, while looking towards Axia to ask, "Is everything okay?"

"The visitors were ill-intentioned, and I’m not sure if this group will come back to cause trouble." Axia shook her head, her expression solemn as she spoke.

"Aunt Axia, have you seen them before?" Pausing for a moment, Cheng Ziang asked the question he had been pondering.

Axia gave him a look and then pursed her lips, letting out a sigh before saying, "I’m not a celebrity, so not many people know my name; usually, it’s just those merchants I’ve had dealings with. But those who know I have knowledge of the Snow Domain tomb distribution are definitely not ordinary people."

"What do you mean?" Cheng Ziang asked hesitantly.

Axia didn’t answer but instead looked at Cheng Ziang and asked back, "Do you remember how you found me?"

"I remember, it was Eve who brought us here." Cheng Ziang nodded.

"That’s right," Axia closed her eyes and nodded, "Eve, only Eve knew these inside details, knew that I had the knowledge of the Snow Domain tomb distribution."

"Are you implying that Eve betrayed you?" Cheng Ziang asked in surprise.

"No, that’s not it," Axia shook her head, "I know Eve and she isn’t that kind of person. But the people around her are much more complicated."

"Fu’en?" After thinking it over, Cheng Ziang began to form a clear outline in his mind, so he tentatively asked.

The reason he asked this was that among those who had contact with both Eve and Axia, after thinking about it, the only one left was Fu’en. From Axia’s past conversations, it was clear that she definitely knew Fu’en.

"That’s right," Axia pursed her lips, then nodded heavily, "It must have been him who leaked my information."

"If it’s Fu’en, then the problem might be more serious than we imagined!" Cheng Ziang said coldly, then turned and walked into the house.

"So, we can retreat now, right?" Hu Daoke, huddled on the second-floor balcony, asked shivering.

"Go back and warm up by the fire; don’t freeze yourself," Axia said and signaled Feng to come into the house.

"Oh my, I thought we were going to get warm, but ended up freezing for nothing!" Hu Daoke scrambled up from the ground and hurried downstairs, clutching the light machine gun.

With Fulajie’er conducting secret reconnaissance, they weren’t worried about these people making a surprise attack because as long as there was any unusual movement, Fulajie’er’s speed would definitely be much faster than theirs.

"You’re saying the Central Intelligence Bureau has got involved?" Luo’er, who was busy in the kitchen, stopped his work abruptly when he heard Cheng Ziang’s report.

"Yes," Cheng Ziang nodded, then added, "Those people know about Axia’s situation. I’m worried it’s a secret leaked by Fu’en, who once served the Central Intelligence Bureau. If this is true, it means that the group from before is very likely to have a background in the Central Intelligence Bureau."

"I thought they wouldn’t enter the Snow Domain..." Luo’er frowned, speaking seriously.

"Clearly, they have entered, and have already found the person they were looking for, I’m afraid their target is also the Ancestors’ Holy Book," Cheng Ziang said gravely.

"But does the Central Intelligence Bureau have an idle Otherworld Gate? What do they want with the Ancestors’ Holy Book?" Baiyue asked, puzzled.

"Don’t forget how they caused trouble in Lipei; if we hadn’t intervened in time, the genetical weapon would have spread within our country," Cheng Ziang said icily.

"So you’re saying," Tangmo widened his eyes in shock, "they want to open the Otherworld Gate again, to reach directly into our country!"

"As long as they know how to open the Otherworld Gate, they have many ways to cause us trouble. Last time the Otherworld Gate connected to Shenghua Academy, next time, it might connect to our capital," Cheng Ziang said.
