Chapter 902: Chapter 895: The Other Side of the World
"I’m becoming more and more suspicious that there exists another brand-new continent in this world, it’s just that, because people from Otherworld can’t undertake voyaging, there has been no interaction between them," Cheng Ziang said, squinting his eyes.
"What are you thinking of?" Luo’er asked, looking at him.
"Do you remember the Sub-beastmen?" Cheng Ziang said, inadvertently glancing towards Baiyue, then continued, "Scientists from Earth have always believed that the Sub-beast Race should come from another continent, because they are perfectly suited to the environment of the Magic World, and they don’t have reproductive isolation with most races, even being able to interbreed with the Elf Race. In contrast, the Beastman Race faces many restrictions."
"That being said," Luo’er seemed to have thought of something upon hearing Cheng Ziang’s words and said with a flash of realization, "If I remember correctly, when we were in Meila Village, the Sub-beast chieftain did say they didn’t belong to this continent. I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time, but now thinking about it, if they aren’t residents of this continent, then how did they come here? Given that the seas are sealed off by Leviathan, it’s impossible for them to have had a chance to take a boat to the Aels Continent."
Luo’er’s words plunged those present into deep thought. The Sub-beastmen from Meila Village, as well as Feng whom they had encountered last year, all pointed to the possibility that Otherworld wasn’t limited to just the Aels Continent; on the other side of this planet, there might well be a considerably advanced civilization.
"Eh, then how did Feng come to the Aels Continent?" Hu Daoke couldn’t help asking curiously.
"Feng’s origins are untraceable. When the Seer met her, she was still an infant. The only thing that’s certain is that it’s highly unlikely she is from the Aels Continent," Luo’er said.
Even though the Advance Team hadn’t traversed the entirety of the Aels Continent, their knowledge of the world was still profoundly deep, which is why Luo’er dared to assert that it was highly unlikely Feng was from the Aels Continent.
"If maritime navigation doesn’t work, could it be... teleportation?" Tangmo asked hesitantly, frowning.
"It shouldn’t be," Cheng Ziang said, looking at Baiyue, "Teleportation magic can only accommodate small-scale movements. Don’t forget, there is also the Sub-beast Race on this continent. If they came to the Aels Continent through such means, it would imply that there should be a close connection between the Aels Continent and the New Continent."
"The sky, the great beasts... Leviathan..." Baiyue muttered, frowning with her head down. After a moment, she looked up, her face serious, and said, "Could there be a possibility that the people of the Sub-beast Race relied on the floating behemoths mentioned by Axia, drifting from their own homeland, crossing the Forbidden Seas, and finally arriving on the Aels Continent?"
"That’s a possibility," Luo’er and Cheng Ziang exchanged glances, then nodded in agreement, "If so, then these Sub-beastmen really could have crossed the perilous Forbidden Seas to make it to the Aels Continent."
"It looks like we need to take a trip back to Meila Village," Luo’er mused.
"Eh, are we going?" Baiyue excitedly reacted to Luo’er’s words.
"Of course," Luo’er nodded, smiling as he looked at her, "It’s just the right opportunity to confirm. If Aniya really is your mother, then the chieftain should indeed be your grandfather."
"Thank... thank you..." Baiyue looked at Luo’er, overwhelmed with emotion, her speech stuttering.
"It’s no issue. We were bound to handle it sooner or later," Luo’er said.
"Eh, if the Sub-beast Race really originates from another continent, then doesn’t that make Yue’er’s identity even more complicated?" After pondering for a while, Hu Daoke suddenly spoke up.
Baiyue’s father, Dr. Anatoli, was Slavic, while her mother Aniya was from the Sub-beast Race. If the origin of the Sub-beast Race is confirmed, then indeed, Baiyue’s identity is quite complex.
"If that’s the case, then this matter certainly requires thorough investigation," Cheng Ziang nodded in agreement.
The group chatted outside for several hours, and Fulajie’er had been inside the tomb for as many hours. At that point, Luo’er couldn’t help but start worrying about Fulajie’er.
Fulajie’er’s body was primarily composed of magic elements, and the Snow God was known to absorb magic, so Luo’er couldn’t shake off the unease about the Snow God possibly absorbing the magic that constituted Fulajie’er’s body, causing her to dissipate.
However, when I think about it carefully, it’s almost impossible for that to happen, because the Otherworld scientist had already made it very clear, as long as the crystal storing the soul remains intact, then Fulajie’er will live forever, and that’s a trait of the gods. Although Fulajie’er is only a demigod, she is still considered a god in the end.
Of course, I can’t really speak for magic, Luo’er thought. After all, he wasn’t an authority on the subject, so he didn’t know if a bunch of strange occurrences mixed together could result in a wonderful chemical reaction.
Finally, just as Luo’er was lost in wild thoughts, he saw the mana in the air fluctuate wildly, and right after that, Fulajie’er’s figure reappeared before everyone.
She stretched vigorously in mid-air, then lazily moaned, "Ah, I’m exhausted, I finally took care of that big guy."
"Are you alright, why did it take you so long?" Luo’er excitedly asked.
"Are you worried about me?" Fulajie’er asked as she floated back and forth before Luo’er, squinting her eyes with anticipation.
"Isn’t that obvious? You were gone for hours, I was worried to death," Luo’er replied matter-of-factly.
"Hehe," hearing Luo’er’s candid words, Fulajie’er became embarrassed. After fidgeting for a bit, she straightened her expression and said, "I was just chatting with that big fellow, so I was held up a little. Sorry about that."
"You, were talking, with the Snow God?" Luo’er stared at her with wide eyes, his sentences short due to the overwhelming shock.
"Yeah, of course," Fulajie’er did a somersault in place, then nodded and said, "That big guy might be a little ugly, but he’s quite gentle, so I chatted with him a bit more."
"It’s not that," Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but interrupt and ask, "the core of the problem is, how did you two communicate? Does it speak human language?"
"It doesn’t, but it understands what we say," Fulajie’er nodded in response.
"It understands?" The crowd was surprised again.
If the Snow God could understand human speech, it meant that it possessed a certain level of intelligence. Realizing this, everyone couldn’t help but turn their heads to look at Axia.
"Don’t look at me, I haven’t seen the Snow God firsthand either, but according to the descriptions from my elders, the Snow God indeed understands human speech, including Elvish and Tasta," Axia said without batting an eye.
"But it’s quite rare for Xiao Fula to be able to communicate with that big fellow," Hu Daoke couldn’t help but comment.
"Maybe because Fula communicated through domain interaction, she could sense what the Snow God wanted to express," Baiyue pondered.
"So in other words," Ziang speculated, "because Fulajie’er communicated with the Snow God through domain interaction, she sensed what it wanted to express, and since regular sound wave communication doesn’t convey the Snow God’s intended message to the listener, it’s easy to cause misunderstandings?"
"Most likely," Luo’er nodded, then looked towards Fulajie’er and continued to ask, "What did you guys talk about?"
"Well," Fulajie’er thought for a moment, then replied, "I said, ’You just hurt my friends, please don’t do that,’ and it expressed its apology. Then I asked it if it thought we were bad people and that’s why it wanted to drive us away, and it answered yes."
"And then what?" Luo’er pressed.
