Chapter 834: Chapter 827: Life on Earth
"Hello, you..." Jora peeked out from behind Eve, timidly speaking.Perhaps it was because he saw someone of the same age and race, he wasn’t as shy as before but instead took the initiative to greet Zhenli.
"No need to be formal with me, let’s go, I’ll take you to settle down," Zhenli answered expressionlessly.
Wang Xu watched the conversation among the three of them, wanted to say something for a moment, but still closed his mouth silently, because he could clearly feel that Zhenli seemed somewhat hostile to strangers, even though they were, like himself, of mixed Snow Elf heritage.
"You go to Holy Heart City and come back with two girls, do you have that kind of preference?" Feliz asked Luo’er with dissatisfaction.
"Don’t misunderstand, alright, the smaller one is a brother, not both girls," Luo’er explained.
Feliz was stunned for a moment, then turned to glance at the silhouette of Eve and her brother, then turned back and asked with furrowed brows, "You like that sort now?"
"It’s not what you think; what on earth did you learn on Earth?" Luo’er shook his head and chuckled bitterly.
"Aren’t these kinds of things very tolerated on Earth?" Feliz replied as if it were a matter of course.
"But I’m not that kind of person," Luo’er spread his hands and explained.
Feliz looked around, then curiously asked, "Where did those two old flames of yours go, did you dump them?"
"Audrey and Baiyue are studying magic at Sacred Heart Magic Academy, what on earth do you have in your head?" Luo’er shook his head helplessly and sighed.
"In the academy now, I sleep every day and study in my dreams," Feliz answered.
"Sleeping... oh, the virtual machine," Luo’er paused and said.
"I never expected you Earthlings to have such amazing things," Feliz couldn’t help but say in admiration.
"It’s nothing, that’s the result of technological progress," Luo’er said.
"When will this world have the advanced machines like Earth," Feliz couldn’t help but lament.
"The physical laws of these two worlds are different; do you know what physical laws are?" Luo’er asked.
"I know a bit; they were mentioned in class," Feliz nodded in reply.
"It looks like you’re still working hard on your studies, you haven’t fallen into decadence because of Earth’s superior material life," Luo’er said with reassurance.
"The teachers at the academy said if I fail the exams, I’ll be advised to leave, and they’ll send me back to this world," Feliz pouted, speaking dejectedly.
"Would that be so bad? Schools are supposed to be places of learning and nurturing, low in high out," Luo’er said as if it were obvious.
"I didn’t say it’s bad," Feliz muttered, then took a deep sigh, and continued with frustration, "I still haven’t fully learned Chinese, and the teacher said I must learn it within this year, or they’ll send me back."
"Then you should study hard, and," Luo’er coughed once and then offered consolation, "don’t listen to those teachers. Most teachers and students at Haiya Academy speak Tasta, even if you don’t speak Chinese for a while, it won’t have any influence, he’s just trying to scare you."
"Really?" Upon hearing Luo’er’s words, Feliz’s face showed a trace of relief.
"Come here," Luo’er beckoned, then leaned in and whispered, "If someone at the academy gives you trouble, go find General Luo Qishan. He should be fully retired by now, but he still has some clout at the academy. If anyone makes things hard for you, just go find Luo Qishan and tell him you’re my friend; that’ll be enough."
"Luo Qishan... Is he your?" Feliz asked Luo’er with widened eyes and hesitation.
"He’s my grandfather," Luo’er answered truthfully.
"Oh, the Principal is your grandfather," Feliz said in shock.
"Who knows if he’s still the principal anymore, he probably retired by now," Luo’er shrugged and said, "If you can’t find him, you can go to my sister first, and she’ll take you to him."
"Your sister..."
"Luoya, as a Wood Elf hybrid as well, but..." Before Luo’er could finish, Feliz let out a startled cry.
"Oh, that Wood Elf, the Wood Elf with heterochromia." Feliz said in shock.
"Is she that famous now?" Hearing her reaction, Luo’er asked with some curiosity.
"Of course she’s famous," Feliz said with an expression that suggested it was obvious, "She’s become the star of the academy now. You can see her poster images everywhere, and many of the academy’s boys regard her as their true love, saying they want to charge, charge what again..."
"Slow down, slow down, I think I get the picture..." Luo’er raised his hand to stop her from continuing with such crude language, while he couldn’t help but fall into confusion.
It seemed that Haiya Academy did not lack Elf Race hybrids; Luo’er was an Elf hybrid himself, so he knew the status of Elf hybrids at the academy. Indeed, they were surrounded by admirers, but never to the point of universal reverence, let alone having large posters of them plastered all over the academy.
It was known that the academy took a cautious and secretive approach when it came to Elf Race hybrids, definitely not promoting them brazenly. Furthermore, there were many restrictions on Elf Race hybrids, such as limiting personal interactions, only allowing them to interact with students from their own class and prohibiting contact with students from other classes.
When they formed the squad at the beginning, Tangmo was able to recruit Luo’er largely because she and Luo’er were classmates. The situation with Shangguan Jiu in the Murong Squad was roughly the same.
But now, according to Feliz’s description, this was clearly official behavior; otherwise, who would be so bored as to plaster posters of Luoya all over the academy? Let’s not even discuss whether they had the capability; even if they did, the academy’s officials would not agree to it.
"I’ll ask Wang Xu about it later..." Luo’er muttered, looking down.
"What are you talking about?" Feliz asked curiously.
"Oh, nothing," Luo’er looked up at Feliz, and suddenly as if he thought of something, he spoke up, "By the way, I ran into your brother here."
"My brother... Carter?" Feliz was startled for a moment, then asked with a frown and in hesitation.
"Right." Luo’er nodded.
"Is he... alright?" Feliz asked with a serious expression, showing her concern for her brother.
"Couldn’t be better," Luo’er said, "He’s now the new commander of the Church Court’s army."
"He joined the Church Court?" Feliz asked, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Is there a problem with that?" Luo’er asked.
"It’s not that, I just didn’t think he’d have such good luck," Feliz said, frowning.
"He is your brother, after all. Isn’t it a bit too..." Luo’er said with a wry smile.
"I’m not putting him down," Feliz shook her head, "I just thought he’d keep muddling along like that, and I didn’t expect him to actually join the Church Court..."
"He joined the new regiment of the Church Court, fought a few battles with monsters, and now he’s a qualified commander," Luo’er assured her.
"But he hasn’t been hurt, has he?" Feliz asked, looking concerned.
"Not that I know of," Luo’er scratched his head, "We fought side by side, but we were defeated and scattered to the winds. He, however, escaped unscathed, just like the rest of us."
"That’s good to hear," Feliz let out a sigh of relief, then pondered, "This must be father’s doing. After all, our family needs to secure a connection with the Church Court. Since I’ve already left the academy, it’s up to him to take my place."
"Don’t be too hard on yourself. Your brother is doing quite well," Luo’er comforted, "And you’re not doing badly either, since you’ve joined our line too. We’re on good terms with the Church Court."
Feliz gave him a look, then lowered her head and complained in a low voice, "I was led here by you, after all."
"Huh?" Luo’er blinked and asked.
"Nothing," Feliz said with feigned composure as she shook her head, then looking at Luo’er, she asked, "Did he mention me?"
"Of course, he did. He’s still very concerned about you and thanks us for looking after you," Luo’er answered truthfully.
