Chapter 824: Chapter 817: Repay Grievances Frankly

"Wait, wait," seeing the man bloodied at the mouth from Hu Daoke’s kicks, Luo’er quickly reached out to stop him, "Don’t beat him to death, we still need to question him."

"What’s there to ask? Xiao Fula knows already. Since he wants to harm us, just kill him and be done with it," Hu Daoke said with terrifying indifference.

"We’re not thugs; there’s no need to kill so cruelly. Besides, his attempt was unsuccessful, we can’t just casually decide his life or death," Luo’er said.

"Hear that? You better thank my boss!" Hu Daoke glanced at Luo’er, then delivered another fierce kick to the man’s stomach and said menacingly.

"Thank, thank you boss..." The man coughed, then struggled to his feet and spoke timidly.

Luo’er walked over, crouched in front of him, and raised him up with both hands, looking at him expressionlessly and asking, "What did Azita tell you?"

"He..." The man glanced at Luo’er, hesitant to speak, but he quickly noticed Hu Daoke, who was restlessly moving behind Luo’er, and was scared into silence.

"He, he said he’d sell you guys to me, let me do as I please..." The man said tremblingly.

"Do you know who we are?" Luo’er asked.

"I don’t know..." The man shook his head.

"You dare to mess with us without knowing who we are? Are all you smugglers this bold?" Hu Daoke leaned in behind Luo’er and asked with a mocking tone.

The man forcefully swallowed his blood-tinged saliva, then bowed his head in silence, clearly at a loss for words.

"And how were you planning to deal with us?" Luo’er asked, tilting his head and looking relaxed.

"In..." The man lifted his head to look at Luo’er, suddenly trembling violently, too frightened to speak.

At this moment, Feng, who was on guard, reacted. Without looking up, she swung her long sword casually. From the deck not far away, a piercing scream was heard, followed by the upper half of a bisected corpse falling into the river. With a splash, the scream abruptly ended, and the crimson blood instantly stained the river’s surface.

Hu Daoke ran over after hearing the sound and found the half-corpse behind a pile of wooden crates, along with a blood-soaked FAL rifle. After a brief inspection, he discovered that it was loaded and the safety was off.

"Boss!" Hu Daoke waved the FAL rifle at Luo’er, signaling that the danger had been taken care of.

Luo’er nodded approvingly and couldn’t help but cast an extra glance at Feng. Although he’d always instructed not to be too harsh, and she hadn’t taken lives when she had acted just now, this time she’d had a murderous intent, likely sensing the danger and thus decisively taking extreme measures to deal with it.

From this, it was clear that Feng had her own standards for assessing danger and wouldn’t completely follow Luo’er’s arrangements. She’d taken such extreme emergency measures because the enemy had the capacity to attack them.

Luo’er turned back and saw that the man in front of him had been so frightened by what had just happened that he was out of his wits, staring at Feng with widened eyes in terror, his face had gone pale, and cold sweat ran down his cheeks.

"Hey, you saw that. Answer whatever I ask, follow my words obediently, and I promise you won’t get hurt, understand?" Luo’er said calmly.

"Uh, uh, yeah yeah..." It took a while for the man to recover from his fear, and he looked at Luo’er in terror and nodded hastily.

"How did you plan to deal with us?" Luo’er asked.

"I..." The man opened his mouth but in the end, couldn’t bring himself to speak.

"Go ahead, I won’t be mad, I promise," Luo’er said calmly.

The man struggled for a long time and finally, after swallowing several times, found the courage to speak, "In the south, you might not sell well, so to deal with you, it would be best to do it in the north. If you can’t be sold at Winter Harbor, then go to Blue Bay, and if you can’t be sold in Blue Bay, then, then..." he said.

"Then what?" Luo’er asked.

"Then hand you over as a toll for passing through the Kabarguru Peninsula, give you to those beastman pirates who hijack ships, and in exchange for the right of passage..." The man’s fear escalated as he spoke, his mouth shaking constantly, and the last few words barely came out as a trembling whisper.

"Was it Azita who ordered you to do this?" Luo’er pursed his lips and asked with a smirk that was not quite a smile.

"He told us we could dispose of you as we pleased..." the man stammered, by then Luo’er had become infinitely terrifying to him, leaving his brain completely blank.

"What is your relationship with him, are you his subordinates?" Luo’er continued to inquire.

"Not subordinates, per se, we’re just collaborators," the man answered truthfully. "Currently, Alcoholic Drinks and Hound Gang are fiercely clashing, it’s uncertain who will win or lose, we thought of taking a trip to the south and see how things stand when we return."

"All of us are armed, yet you don’t seem to be afraid at all, treating us as if we’re slaves," Luo’er said with a faint smile.

The man didn’t speak, guiltily bowing his head and breathing rapidly; Luo’er’s words left him speechless, unsure of what to say.

"How long will it take to reach Winter Harbor now?" Luo’er suddenly changed the subject.

"Fast..." the man glanced around cautiously before carefully stating, "If we’re fast, it should take us about three to four days to arrive."

"Then, we’ll trouble you to take us to Winter Harbor over these next few days," Luo’er stood up and said.

"Yes, yes, as long as it is your request..." the man knelt, speaking incoherently.

"Luo’er, are you planning to..." As soon as Eve heard the words "Winter Harbor," she immediately became agitated.

"Let’s go take a look first; if there’s no place for us there, we’ll escort you to Snow Domain," Luo’er nodded and replied, "But as we agreed before, we’ll send you and your brother back to Snow Domain, and you’ll help us find what we’re looking for."

"Thank you!" Eve said sincerely.

Luo’er smiled but didn’t respond to her gratitude. After pondering for a moment, he called out loudly to Hu Daoke, "Little Ke, you and Fula gather everyone on the ship, we might take this vessel to Winter Harbor."

"Hey, boss, aren’t we going back to the academy first? Sister Moumou and the others will worry," Hu Daoke turned and asked.

"No need," Luo’er waved his hand and said, "We’ll contact headquarters directly, then have them assure Sister Moumou of our safety. When Ziang comes back, have the three of them come to find us."

"Alright, I’m on it," Hu Daoke said and then shouted loudly at the empty air, "Xiao Fula, time to get to work, hurry up."

Then, he slung his red-stained FAL rifle over his shoulder, carrying a buttstock-less rifle as he headed down, muttering to himself, "Why can’t I call you Xiao Fula, you are clearly small, age can’t be taken seriously, you have to look at size."

"Feng, stay alert!" Luo shouted back with a command.

"Roger that!" Feng nodded without a trace of emotion on his face.

"Who is he talking to?" Eve asked in fright as she watched Hu Daoke talk to himself while walking, her eyes wide as she looked at Luo’er.

"Why do you always ask that question?" Luo’er glanced at her and couldn’t help but inquire.

"I’m really scared, I always feel like there’s something terrifying lurking around us..." as Eve spoke, she involuntarily looked around, starting to tremble.

"What strange things? Even if there were, could they be more terrifying than these people?" Luo’er shrugged nonchalantly.

"Who is Fula?" Eve asked Luo’er, frowning.

"Fula, what Fula?" Luo’er blinked, feigning ignorance.

"Don’t play dumb with me, I just heard it, you told her to work with that burly guy," Eve’s face grew pale, and her breathing became erratic.

"There are some things you’re better off not knowing," Luo’er shifted his gaze away, then said indifferently, "the people of your world might never accept some things in their lifetime."
