Chapter 822 - 815: Breaking Through Barriers

Chapter 822: Chapter 815: Breaking Through Barriers

After about more than an hour of jostling, Luo’er was so dizzy that his mind was a blur as he leaned in the corner, half-asleep. Eve and Jora were also leaning on each other, eyes closed, resting.

Hu Daoke, on the other hand, didn’t feel any seasickness at all, but since he had not slept the previous night, he was also finding it hard to stay awake and thus slumped over and fell asleep.

Of all the people there, only Feng was still fairly alert. The rocking of the boat didn’t disturb her meditation. She closed her eyes to rest, but her expanded perception was constantly monitoring the surroundings.

"Luo’er, Luo’er, Luo’er!!" Luo’er had no idea how long he had slept when he faintly heard an urgent call in his mind; thus, he opened his eyes only to find the flickering kerosene lamp.

"Luo’er, it’s dawn," Fulajie’er said.

"Oh," Luo’er rubbed his temples in discomfort and then muttered, "Are we out of the city yet?"

"Yes, we’re out and now heading downriver," Fulajie’er replied.

"Ah, that’s good. Let’s get out, or I’ll be..." Luo’er began, but suddenly his face turned pale, and he couldn’t help but start to retch.

"Luo’er, are you okay? Are you sick?" Fulajie’er asked in near tears at the sight of Luo’er’s condition.

"Just seasickness, nothing serious," Luo’er reassured with a wave of his hand.

As he spoke, he glanced at the fast-asleep Hu Daoke and gently tugged on his clothes to wake him up.

"Ah, is it over?" Hu Daoke mumbled drowsily as he was woken up.

"What’s over?" Luo’er asked.

"Oh, nothing, I was talking in my sleep," Hu Daoke shook his head.

"We’re out of the city now; go make them open the door and let us out!" Luo’er gestured.

"Oh, okay!" Hu Daoke nodded, then walked over to the cabin door, pounded a few times with his fist, and shouted, "Hey, open the door, we need to get out, do you hear!?"

His shouting woke up Eve and her brother. They opened their eyes to see the dim kerosene lamp and then looked at Luo’er with slight disappointment, "We haven’t gone out yet?"

"We’re out. We’re just calling for the sailors to come and open the door," Luo’er replied.

"They won’t come, will they?" Eve asked with concern, remembering the sailors’ attitude before they came in.

"We never expected them to come in the first place; we’re just being polite before taking action," Luo’er shrugged.

"What, what does that last part mean?" Eve frowned, clearly not understanding the Chinese Luo’er used.

"Feng," Luo’er turned his head and instructed, "You and Fula look for the weakest spot to break through to get us all up."

"This is the weakest spot," Feng stomped her foot, honestly responding.

"If you break through the hold, we’ll all drown," Luo’er said with a weary smile.

"Oh." Feng nodded, then stood up from the ground, bent over, drew her long sword, and began searching for a weak spot to break through. The door they had come through was now blocked by cargo, and even if broken open, it wouldn’t be possible to go through, so they had to find another way out.

Letting Fulajie’er help was mainly to have her check where on the upper layer there wasn’t any cargo, because the upper layer was the cargo hold, and the only way out was to carve a hole in a spot without cargo.

Feng crouched and moved about the lower hold, seemingly following Fulajie’er’s commands. Luo’er felt somewhat relieved that the two girls got along, as it seemed that Fulajie’er had always been afraid of Feng before.

She looked up, prodding around. Soon after, she thrust her sword into the ceiling, and then with her head lowered and eyes closed, there was a crack, and there was a hole large enough for a person to pass through in the ceiling above where Feng stood.

"It’s done," Feng sheathed her long sword, then turned and reported.

"You go up and keep watch first," Luo’er commanded.

"Oh!" Feng nodded and climbed up agilely.

"Little Ke, you’re the second," Luo’er continued to command.

"Uh, all right," Hu Daoke said as he struggled to climb up to the opening and then tried to squeeze through it.

However, it was evident that the hole Feng had made was a bit small, making it particularly difficult for the big and tall Hu Daoke to get through. He was seen struggling to climb out, couldn’t help but complain, "Feng, couldn’t you have made it a bit bigger?"

Startled by his complaint, Feng paused for a moment, then straightforwardly raised his long knife again, scaring Hu Daoke into waving his hands, "It’s alright, it’s alright, I can get out."

After Hu Daoke climbed out with difficulty, Luo’er had Eve and her brother follow, and then it was his turn. However, he was obviously quite dizzy, and just as he climbed up into the cargo hold and straightened up, he nearly stumbled and fell to the ground.

"Boss, are you alright? Do you want me to carry you?" Hu Daoke walked over to support him and then asked with concern.

"I’m fine, a small issue, I can still hold out," Luo’er shook his head, declining his offer.

"Little Ke, you and Fula lead the way, Feng stays with me ready to act on opportunity, and you two follow," after a brief pause, Luo’er continued to issue commands.

"Leave it to me!" Hu Daoke rolled up his sleeves and said confidently.

Now that he climbed into the cargo hold, Hu Daoke no longer needed to stoop to move around. As he straightened, his confidence seemed to return, showing an eager attitude.

He strode vigorously to the wooden hatch and tried to push and pull it a few times. After confirming it was locked, he took a step back and fiercely kicked the door.

The hatch immediately made a loud noise. Hu Daoke managed to displace the door with one kick, then he stepped back again and delivered another powerful kick.

He wasn’t worried about attracting others, since Luo’er had already made it clear that they intended to cause a commotion. Obviously, Hu Daoke had fully embraced Luo’er’s spirit.

"Bang!!"

The wooden door made a loud noise and was violently kicked open by Hu Daoke. Sailors coming in response to the noise widened their eyes in terror as they watched Hu Daoke emerge from the cargo hold with a brazen face.

"What are you doing!" One of the sailors plucked up the courage and asked loudly, trying to put on a brave front.

"What am I doing? I’m getting out; did you miss me that much?" Hu Daoke retorted with his head held high and in a foul language.

"Who let you smash the door?" the sailor asked loudly, still trying to appear tough although panicked.

"It’s none of your business. Piss me off and I’ll dismantle this whole ship!" Hu Daoke cursed back.

His words had foundation and weren’t mere intimidation. Back in the plague area, Feng had once destroyed the Otherworld Gate with a single strike. Hence, if Feng were to attack with his full strength, sinking this ship would be no problem at all.

"Don’t move, or I’ll shoot!" Seeing Hu Daoke advancing, one of the sailors with a rifle slung over his shoulder raised his stockless gun and threatened him.

"Screw you!" Hu Daoke stepped forward quickly, grabbed the rifle from his hand, then delivered a powerful kick to the sailor’s abdomen. Hu Daoke’s strength was so great that his kick sent the sailor flying five meters away, clutching his stomach and wailing in pain.

Hu Daoke didn’t back down because he noticed the stockless rifle in the sailor’s hand was Luo’er’s, and it didn’t have a magazine inserted.

For Hu Daoke, a rifle without a magazine was no different from a stick used to light a fire, and swinging it would be especially cumbersome. Clearly, these Otherworlders had suffered from their lack of knowledge, not realizing that a rifle needed a magazine to shoot.

"Little Ke, catch!" Seeing that Hu Daoke had taken his rifle, Luo’er took out a magazine full of bullets from his bag and threw it to him.

Hu Daoke turned around, caught the magazine Luo’er threw, and after inserting the magazine, he expertly turned off the safety, worked the action to load it, and fired three shots at the ceiling of the cargo hold.
