Chapter 743 - 736: Asirens
Chapter 743: Chapter 736: Asirens
Worn out due to the constant pestering from Fulajie’er, Luoer led the group aboard the transport plane familiarly. The pilot didn’t even secure the cabin door and increased the thrust of the anti-gravity engine before firing up the propulsion engine, almost throwing the dwarves from the same flight off the transport plane.
This was a transport plane with an extended Magic Crystal cabin, specifically used for long-distance transportation of soldiers. At this point, it was rapidly heading towards the southwest air fleet under the propulsion of the engines. Due to its significantly smaller size compared to the airships, its speed was much faster too.
Once aboard the transport plane, Fulajie’er became much more obedient and stopped pestering Luoer, especially given Momo’s presence, it didn’t dare to act recklessly.
This Momo was entirely different from her sister. Fulajie’er often ended up at a disadvantage when she faced her, therefore, after suffering losses a few times, Fulajie’er had given up the opportunity to confront Momo directly, and instead chose to fortify her position privately.
At this time, Tangmo sat next to Luoer, affectionately embracing his arm and resting against his shoulder. Happiness was written all over her face, which bore no resemblance to her fierce manner previously.
Baiyue was seated alone in the corner, adjusting the optical sight of her M14 EBR. Upon noticing the intimate display of the two, she lifted her head for a glance, made no expression, then continued to adjust her weapon.
"Did your sister assign you this task?" Unable to help himself, Luoer asked after looking at her.
"Hmm, who else could it be?" Tangmo nodded her head, answering the question as if it was obvious.
"Alright then!" Hearing her answer, Luoer didn’t say much but just nodded his head and remained silent.
Probably after noticing the performance of his sister, Momo, on the battlefield last time, he decided to entrust such tasks to her. If Luoer remembered correctly, this Momo in front of him had always excelled at handling such issues compared to her older sister.
The transport plane flew swiftly. After a lengthy six-hour flight, the plane finally docked on the scheduled relay airship. After briefly replacing the Magic Crystals, it took off once again for the next relay airship.
In this manner, the crew changed, but not the plane. After three relays and almost a day and night, the plane finally reached the airship at the forefront. At this time, only two airships, the size of the air fleet, remained.
These two airships were the supply ship which served as the flagship and one High-peak class Main Battle Airship. Coordinated by the transport plane liaison officer, the transport plane quickly approached and securely landed on the supply ship that was the flagship.
After the transport plane steadied, everyone wasn’t idle. Led by the Dwarf air traffic control, they immediately headed to the main cockpit. At this point, the air fleet’s commander and the captain of the flagship was located in the main cockpit, quietly awaiting their arrival.
"Gentlemen, I’ve been awaiting your arrival for a long while," On seeing the group, the Dwarf Commander immediately stepped forward and saluted, speaking half in Chinese and half in Dwarven Language.
"I am Luoer, the Captain of the Advance Team, it is a pleasure to meet you, Commander." Luo responded with a salute and said respectfully.
The commander of this fleet was the same one they worked with during the outbreak, so this could be considered as the second collaboration between him and the Advance Team.
"I am Reimer, the Commander of the Third Air Fleet. Here, I would appreciate it, Captain Luoer, if you could introduce your team members," said Reimer, the Commander of the Air Fleet, respectfully.
The names of the Dwarf Race were similar to the Elf Race, composed of short syllables. Most names weren’t too long and generally translated to two to three Chinese characters, and four would already be considered unusual.
"You’re being too polite. This is Cheng Ziang, and this is Hu Daoke. This is Tangmo and Baiyue, they are all members of the Advance Team. In addition, this is Feng, a new member of the Advance Team," Luoer introduced.
"Greetings to you all," Reimer stepped forward respectfully and bowed, then lifted his head and said, "We have worked together before, so let’s skip the formalities and proceed with the matter at hand."
One thing that astounded Luoer about Reimer was that his Chinese pronunciation almost approached perfection and there was hardly any hint of a foreign accent. Zhuyan Yu, who often interacted with him, said that Reimer was a bit odd; he only spoke the Dwarven Language and Chinese, but not a word of the widely-spoken Tasta language of the Continent.
Reimer led them into the operations room where war strategies were planned. After gesturing for the staff to leave, he looked around at everyone and said, "Feel free to ask anything you need to understand. I’m at your disposal."
"Please explain the details of this incident, Captain Reimer," Luoer nodded and requested. It felt bizarre to him to hear an Otherworlder switch entirely to Chinese.
"Of course," Reimer nodded, and then continued, "The ship that was hijacked is a Winter-class ground support airship, the Asirens. It has a standard crew of 270 and is not equipped to carry combat teams. The troubling part is that Ronisca’s Crown Prince, Mu Lansi, was also aboard the airship at the time, hence, he was seized by the hijackers as well."
Ronisca’s ground-support airships are often named after mountain ranges. The Winter class is named after the Winter Mountains in the northwest of its territory, while the Asirens comes from the Asirens Mountains in the northeast.
The current active ground-support airship for Ronisca’s fleet is of the Winter class, while the main battle airship is of the High-peak class. However, it is said the next generation of main battle airship is nearly completed and is ready for deployment at any time.
"Captain Reimer," Cheng Ziang wore a sarcastic smile as he spoke coldly, "Forgive my bluntness, but I find it hard to believe that your fleet’s airship could be so easily hijacked. Isn’t there another reason for this? Would you mind explaining?"
Upon hearing Cheng Ziang’s words, Reimer’s facial muscles twitched as he heaved a deep sigh and admitted, "You have seen through our embarrassment. Given the current situation, we tend to believe that there was a mass mutiny among the crew of the Asirens, and that’s how the hijacking of the airship occurred."
"Sodesunie!" Cheng Ziang nodded in approval upon hearing Reimer’s candidness, muttering a Japanese phrase, all the while exchanging glances with Luoer. As Reimer understood Chinese, he didn’t dare converse openly with Luoer in that language.
"So we’re up against an airship with around 270 personnel and combat capabilities?" Luoer asked with a furrowed brow and a serious expression.
"Uh," Reimer was taken aback, but then he waved his hand and said, "Everyone, listen up to some good news."
"What good news?" Luoer asked, looking at him.
"The Asirens is a ground-support airship. While its ground attack capabilities are powerful, it’s much less effective in aerial combat, so..." Reimer explained.
"So, we can launch an attack from above to directly shoot down the Asirens?" Cheng Ziang cut in.
"Absolutely not," Reimer waved his hand in dismissal, "Don’t forget that His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Mu Lansi, is still aboard."
"I almost forgot the young man was still up there." On hearing Reimer’s words, Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but grumble. His resentment towards Mu Lansi persisted due to the Masya incident.
"If we manage to rescue His Royal Highness Mu Lansi, can we then directly shoot down the Asirens?" Luoer asked, brow furrowed.
"In principle, yes," Reimer nodded and spoke reluctantly, "The Asirens is headed for Baales. It appears that the Zhuyan People haven’t given up their pursuit of the anti-gravity engine yet. We must not let their scheming succeed."
"Then..." Luoer started to speak, paused, and then asked another question, "Do you have any brilliant ideas for rescuing His Royal Highness, Captain Reimer?"
Cheng Ziang stared at Luoer, understanding his hesitation. Luoer wanted to say that if they could not come up with a strategy when Asirens was about to enter Baales, perhaps they could directly shoot down the Asirens. As for Mu Lansi, he would have to sacrifice himself to save the country.
"To be honest, we are not yet sufficiently prepared in this regard, and therefore, we have to rely on you, the Advance Team." Reimer admitted with a look of embarrassment.
