Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 707 - 700: Arrival of the Evil God

Chapter 707: Chapter 700: Arrival of the Evil God

Of course, Luoer naturally hoped that this would be the case, but the huge creature named Naptios obviously wouldn’t give up easily. Therefore, Luoer was constantly guessing when they would launch their attack.

After completing the preliminary preparations, Shariya had the extra mages retreat to the second line, leaving him and the Advance Team ready to activate the rune.

"Fula, monitor the situation of the Door of Annihilation!" As Shariya prepared to start the rune, Luoer said to Fulajie’er.

"Received!" Fulajie’er responded, and then she flew into the air.

"Everyone be on alert, anyone who comes towards us, no need for my command, shoot to kill." Luoer ordered loudly.

"Understood!" The crowd responded in chorus.

"Feng, you are not allowed to attack without my command to avoid blocking the line of sight and causing friendly fire." Luoer shouted to Feng who had her back to her.

Feng stood with her legs apart, gripping her long sword tightly in her right hand. Hearing Luoer’s command, she turned around, her eyes wide, and asked, "Do you not need me?"

"No, Luo’er wants you to attack on command." Tangmo, standing behind her, reassured her.

"Oh!" Feng nodded in a somewhat confused manner, then turned her head back.

"Dean Shariya, let’s begin!" After arranging everything, Luoer turned her head and said to Shariya.

"I appreciate your help." Shariya gratefully nodded and then raised his magic wand to start chanting spells.

As he was chanting, the magic in the air showed a noticeable fluctuation, so large that even a magic waste like Hu Daoke could feel it. Of course, he studied magic sensing, so even if he was a waste, he could sense magic fluctuations.

The magic from the air started to gather into Shariya’s body. After passing through his body and converging, it was finally discharged from the magic want which acted as a medium and injected into the Magic Array on the ground.

Once the magic was infused, the runes on the Magic Array immediately emitted a faint glow. This was a cold light, produced by the flow of magic. The principle is still unknown, Earth scientists speculated it could be light and heat produced by the entanglement, collision of magic particles, but they couldn’t explain why it did not produce heat.

When the whole Magic Array was lit, the light path began to follow the predetermined circuit, injecting into the pillars of the Door of Annihilation. This faint blue glow began to replace the purple glow on the door pillar runes gradually. While it did not seem slow, considering the door was over ten meters high and more than one hundred meters long, it still seemed too slow.

As the magic in the Magic Array started being injected into the pillars, everyone immediately became tense. Because, last time around the same moment when the magic from Magic Array was being injected, the monsters began their frenzied attack on Otherworld.

Luoer remembered that after the Magic Array was launched, the first to appear were not the monsters themselves, but thick tentacles, after listening to the description of the young mage, it was likely the tentacles from the head of Naptios.

After a few of those tentacles were cut off by Feng, they shrunk back in pain, leaving several still twitching. Thinking of this, Luoer looked at the spot where the tentacles fell, and noticed they had long withered like a deflated balloon.

If Naptios was an intelligent creature comparable to humans, then Luoer could completely deduce its next move with logical reasoning.

According to her calculation, it was obvious Naptios cares a lot about its tentacles, so it would not probe with them again. Noticing that the Door of Annihilation was closing, its most likely action would be to again command the beasts to cross the Door of Annihilation causing chaos and preventing the Door from closing.

Sure enough, Luoer’s speculation proved to be right. Not long after the magic array was activated, the horde of monsters attacked again, but this time their number was significantly less than before. Luoer estimated that the emerging horde has reduced by at least a third.

Apparently, Naptios on the other side of the door was also at its wit’s end. Luoer was now worried, fearing that once Naptios ran out of monster soldiers, it might personally enter the battleground.

On seeing the monsters surge forward, the knights, fueled by a surge of energy, roared and charged towards them once more. The one-sided nature of the battle continued; despite the knights not being fully recovered from their previous injuries, they did not feel too much pressure, as the size of the monster horde had decreased.

In the first ten minutes of the battle, over a hundred monsters had been slain, whereas the knights remained almost completely unscathed. It was repeatedly shown that regardless of how strong these monsters were, as long as the knights had the home advantage, it was difficult for them to defeat these Otherworld beings.

In the Second Otherworld Warmore than thirty years ago, humans relied on powerful technology to fight the Otherworld army to a draw. Even though they were eventually driven back to Earth, in essence, Earth’s technology was sufficient to counter the advantages of the Otherworld inhabitants.

This war has been mentioned multiple times by scholars of later generations. The reasons for the defeat of the multinational troops of the United Nations were clear; command was disarrayed, every troop fought individually without forming a unified front, which led them to be defeated one by one by the Otherworld beings.

Otherwise, with the technology of humans at that time, fighting the Otherworld inhabitants to a standstill would not be a problem. Unless the Otherworld inhabitants used forbidden curse-level magic, they would not be able to resist the offensive of the Earth inhabitants for a while.

These monsters did not have the technological advantage of the Earth inhabitants and did not even have intelligence. Their combat power was only slightly stronger than that of tigers and wolves. The greatest threat they posed to the inhabitants of the Otherworld was probably the viruses they carried. Hence, it was foreseeable that the battle would be one-sided.

The fierce battle continued, with the knights stepping through the chaos of monstrous bodies on the ground, continuing to transform these mindless monsters into corpses. Their thick blood puddled in the pits on the ground, forming a sticky pool of blood. Stepping into it made it difficult to lift one’s foot, causing some trouble for the knights.

Monsters would occasionally attempt to attack the pillar that the Advance Team was tasked to defend, but most of them were shot down after a short distance by the team’s precise gunshot skills, falling onto the path of charge.

Feng, with her long sword in hand, had her eyes locked onto the surging monsters, her body trembling continuously. It was apparent that she really wanted to join the battle, but without Luoer’s order, she did not dare to act rashly.

In Luoer’s view, if Naptios entered the battle, Feng would undoubtedly become the only trump card in the Advance Team’s hand. So, he still felt that it was best to use Feng’s combat power in the possible final battle, rather than wasting it on these low-threat minions.

The Advance Team was less than ten meters away from the Door of Annihilation, so their weapons could easily hit the attacking monsters. The explosive bullets they were equipped with would create a fist-sized wound on the monsters as soon as they were hit, scattering flesh and blood everywhere. A hit on the limbs could even completely tear them apart.

Flares were continuously shot into the sky, ensuring brightness on the battlefield at all times. A transport plane loaded with weapons hovered not far from the Otherworld Gate, on constant alert.

Night battles were actually very unfavorable for the Otherworld armies, as they rarely launched attacks at night. Typically, they would suspend battles when nighttime fell, only picking it back up the next day.

However, for the Advance Team, night operation was actually very normal. Since Earth entered the Industrial Age, the difference between day and night became increasingly blurry. In modern times, night operation has become the norm, with most battles initiating around nighttime and into early dawn.

The harder the knights fought, the fewer the monsters. After more than an hour of battle, no more monsters could be seen emerging from the Door of Annihilation. That is to say, as long as they dealt with the existing monsters, the battle could likely be over.

But just when everyone thought victory was at hand, the worst Luoer feared happened.

I saw numerous tentacles surge out of the Door of Annihilation again, sweeping straight towards the knights who were battling monsters, and it also included the monsters. The sturdy tentacles swept back and forth, knocking down both knights and monsters, and a few unlucky knights were hoisted by the tentacles and dragged into the Door of Annihilation.

Then the ground started to shake violently, and a giant hand emerged from the Door of Annihilation, grabbing the nearby pillar. The enormous force made the Door of Annihilation tremble continuously, which in turn shook the ground.
