Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 676 - 669: Desire for Control

Chapter 676: Chapter 669: Desire for Control

"And one more thing," Tangmo gently tugged at Luo’er’s sleeve, asking him to turn around. Once he did, she reached out and grabbed the clothes of an absent-minded Feng, trying to comfort her, "Feng, I’m alright now, don’t be sad and don’t worry. Luo’er won’t blame you, right Luo’er?"

Seeing her hopeful gaze, Luo’er sighed deeply and said helplessly: "As long as you’re alright, that’s enough. Don’t take such risks again in the future."

"Oh ..." Feng nodded her head, although her tone was flat, you could still hear that she had finally relaxed a lot.

Tangmo showed the kind of grace a big sister should have, which made Luo’er feel quite comforted. Tangmo was often mistaken for the youngest team member because of her small stature and childlike appearance, but in fact, among the Advance Team, she’s the oldest, besides Luo’er.

In other words, Tangmo is older than most of the hybrid humans at the academy. She was the first successful case of a hybrid human, and it was because of her safe birth that the entire Origin Project was carried out.

The reason why Tangmo appears to be so young is mainly that she is a dwarf in mix-blood. According to research from Earth, dwarves are likely a subspecies of the Elf Race. In other words, Tangmo belongs to a kind of half-elf. Her lifespan and growth cycle are similar to Luo’er’s.

"Alright, you guys continue your research, I’ll take her down to rest." After musing for a while, Luo’er put on a serious face and said, before leaving the office with Tangmo in his arms.

"Luo’er, are you angry?" Tangmo, hugging his neck and looking up at him, asked.

"Of course, I’m angry, this is nothing but recklessness. The Advance Team walked through a hail of bullets without being injured, but non-combat casualties appeared only after we boarded the airboat safely." Luo’er said with an indifferent expression.

"I also wanted to know Feng’s secret, to make some contribution to the Advance Team." Seeing Luo’er’s anger, Tangmo pursed her lips and said somewhat guiltily.

"Contribution? Using yourself as an experiment?" Luo’er asked, knitting his brows.

"The exploration of the unknown always needs fearless adventurers..." Tangmo’s mind zapped, and she blurted out what Nightingale just said.

"Who told you that?" Luo’er asked.

"I came up with it myself." Tangmo blinked and replied.

"Anyone can be an adventurer, but you can’t!" Luo’er said sternly.

Hearing his words, Tangmo opened her mouth, but in the end, she didn’t speak. After a moment of silence, she said softly, "Luo’er, you’re too controlling..."

"What?!" Hearing this, Luo’er was taken aback, and he suddenly had an enlightening realization.

"I also want to contribute to the Advance Team and not be taken care of all the time. I know you want to protect us and not allow us to do this and that. But always standing by without accomplishing anything, we will feel frustrated too." Tangmo looked at him, speaking honestly.

Luo’er lowered his head and bit his lip, falling into deep thought. What Tangmo said made him see the light. If he remembered correctly, the same thing was also said by Cheng Ziang.

Was he really too controlling, just as Tangmo described, he was like a family head, protecting the team members while also restraining them with his authority.

To him, there was nothing wrong with this approach, but maybe it wasn’t the same for the members of the Advance Team. They are also human beings, they have their own things to do, and they want to express themselves.

After thinking about it, Luo’er felt that he indeed overstepped his boundaries at times, and even liked to have the final say in the planning stage. This usually resulted in personal factors influencing the completion of the tasks, even leading to the team ending up in dangerous situations.

Seeing Luo’er sinking into deep thought due to her words, Tangmo started to worry and hastily reassured him. "Eh, Luo’er, don’t take my words to heart, I know you’re doing this for our good. Although we feel restrained, we understand your actions."

"I care about you, not just because you’re a member of the Advance Team..." Luo’er opened his mouth, upon saying this, he quickly looked away, not daring to meet Tangmo’s gaze.

"Really..." Tangmo was caught off guard by the sudden joy. She paused for a while before looking up at Luo’er and noticing his evasive gaze, her cheeks involuntarily turned slightly red.

"Why are you saying such things at this time, honestly..." Tangmo lowered her head, her lips slightly curving upwards, a smile inevitably spreading across her cheeks.

"Sister Moumou, are you alright?" As they arrived at a corridor corner, the two unexpectedly ran into Baiyue, who was hurriedly rushing over.

"Ah, oh, me, I’m fine!" Tangmo, lost in thought, was startled awake by Baiyue’s call and spoke somewhat anxiously.

"There are no symptoms of Magic Power Erosion. After some rest, she should be fine," Luoer seriously remarked to Baiyue.

"I apologize, Yue’er, for disrupting your alone time," Tangmo said with remorse.

Toward Baiyue, she was truly apologizing, not putting on an act. Oddly enough, Tangmo couldn’t stand other girls getting close to Luoer, but she was incredibly tolerant towards Baiyue.

"Don’t speak like that," thinking about Tangmo knowing about her alone time with Luoer, Baiyue’s whole face turned red. It was lucky she didn’t have human ears, or they’d likely be bright red from the heat.

"I’ll take her back to rest, you should get some rest too," Luoer told Baiyue.

"Um, I’ll go to the office and see if there’s anything I can help with," Baiyue said, lips pursed, before turning around and leaving the two of them.

Watching Baiyue’s departing figure, Luoer sighed deeply. He looked down at Tangmo to see her also gazing at Baiyue. Noticing Luoer’s gaze, Tangmo shifted her attention away again, and the two finally made eye contact once more.

"Do you, do you think I’m scum?" Luoer struggled a moment before stuttering out the question.

"Of course. A girl will always dream of receiving a boy’s whole heart, not allowing him to flirt with others," Tangmo looked at him, a trace of resentment in her eyes.

"If, if," Luoer stammered, but in the end, he didn’t have the courage to speak up, so he closed his mouth.

"If what?" Tangmo looked at him, sensing that Luoer seemed to be hiding something from her.

"Forget it, it’s nothing!" Luoer laughed, shaking his head.

"No, you certainly have something. You can’t lie. Your eyes shift around when you do," Tangmo stared at him and said.

"I’m afraid it would make you sad if you knew," Luoer sighed.

"Not telling me would make me sadder," Tangmo insisted.

"Are you sure you want to know?" Luoer asked, as if making up his mind.

"Mmh!" Tangmo nodded firmly.

"Alright then..." Luoer nodded, then leaned down and whispered softly in her ear.

Upon hearing Luoer’s words, Tangmo’s face went pale once again after her initial shock. By the time Luoer lifted his head, her eyes were already filled with tears, which were slowly streaming down her cheeks.

"You’re, you’re lying, right?" Tangmo managed to say, her voice trembling. It took a lot of effort to say it, her lips quivering.

"I’m sorry..." Luoer didn’t know how to respond, so he lowered his head and muttered.

"I don’t believe it, I won’t believe it!" Tangmo pulled her arms tight, pressing her face tightly against Luoer’s chest, crying uncontrollably.
