Chapter 647 - 640: Attack from the Ground
Chapter 647: Chapter 640: Attack from the Ground
Just as Fulajie’er was carrying out her reconnaissance mission, the dwarf in charge of the aft gun position on the transport plane saw many flashes of light rising from the ground, shooting straight towards the transport plane through the glass. Before he could react, the lights had reached him. The transport plane promptly emitted a shattering noise and began to tremble violently.
"We’re under ground fire attack, adjusting flight orientation, damn, the left engine is damaged!" the pilot shouted. His co-pilot was busy noting down and sending out what he had just yelled.
"Everyone, hold on tight, don’t fall out!" Luo’er shouted, all the while grabbing the handle next to him.
The fire from the ground did not stop but kept on firing. Worse still, it wasn’t just coming from one point, multiple fire points were shooting at the transport plane in the sky simultaneously.
The transport plane was frantically maintaining its orientation in the sky, but it was quickly enveloped by the barrage from the ground, with more and more parts being hit. Everyone could hear the sound of bullets whizzing through the air. Several bullets broke through the fuselage, and luckily, they didn’t hit anyone inside.
"Adjust the orientation, prepare to retaliate," Luo’er shouted in desperation, "Fula, find out where the attacker on the ground is!"
"It’s to our left!" came the anxious voice of Fulajie’er in Luo’er’s ear in an instant.
"Fire back, fire back, suppress the ground fire!" Luo’er loudly instructed the dwarf gunner.
"I can’t, the plane is out of control, I can’t control its orientation!" the pilot’s voice came from the front seat. The enemy’s bullets had obviously hit the transport plane’s flight control system, and it started to spin uncontrollably in mid-air. However, since the anti-gravity engine was undamaged, the plane didn’t crash.
"Lower the altitude, or we’ll be turned into a sieve!" Cheng Ziang tightly grabbed the handle and yelled.
"Lowering altitude, prepare for an emergency landing, everyone brace for impact!" the dwarf pilot clenched his teeth, trying his best to control the transport plane’s orientation while also starting to reduce the output power of the anti-gravity engine.
After firing hundreds of high-powered rounds in an instant, the fire points on the ground stopped momentarily, seemingly as the people were changing ammunition. If the transport plane didn’t descend to a safe altitude at this point, they would for sure be shot down and turned into flying coffins by the next round of bullet rain.
The dwarf pilot seized the opportunity, regardless of the uncontrollable spin of the transport plane, he instantly lowered the altitude to several tens of meters and then slowly started to look for an area to land urgently.
"Executing the emergency landing, everyone brace for impact!" Accompanied by the pilot’s hoarse shouting, the transport plane spiraled down and plunged into the dense treetops.
Next came the sound of tree tearing and metal distortion. The tree branches were broken and scattered by the sudden intrusion of the transport plane, while at the same time, the frail plane was torn apart by tree branches and trunks.
After being cushioned by the forest for a while, the transport plane eventually plunged headfirst into the ground. The tremendous force of impact still sent everyone on the plane into immediate unconsciousness.
"Luo’er, Luo’er, Luo’er, wake up!!!"
Luo’er seemed to awaken after a long time, vaguely hearing a familiar voice calling him anxiously. He opened his eyes abruptly, instantly feeling revived with an indescribable sensation of nausea overwhelming his mind, causing him to cough severely.
"Great, you’re okay." came Fulajie’er’s voice from the side, seeing him fine and uninjured made her sob of relief.
Looking around, he found that they were lying in a toppled-over cabin, with the entire body of the airplane distorted due to the collision. The crew members were all lying in the cabin, their bodies were bloody, some more than others.
Upon seeing this, Luo’er disregarded his physical discomfort, struggled to get up then stooped over to reach the crew members and began checking their condition. Fortunately, everyone was only unconscious and there were no casualties.
"Luo’er, Luo’er, they’re coming, you can’t stay here." At this point, he heard Fulajie’er’s anxious voice in his ear.
"Who are they?" Luo’er asked.
"They’re the ones who shot us down, they are encircling us now." said Fulajie’er.
Upon hearing her words, Luo’er gritted his teeth and said: "Fula, you wake up the others, I’ll try to buy some time, make sure to get everyone out!"
After saying that, he didn’t wait for Fulajie’er’s response. He picked up a Type 47 buttless rifle and then climbed out straight through an already open hatch.
Scrambling out of the aircraft, Luo’er rolled gracefully on the ground before leaning against the toppled transport plane, checking his weapon. Despite feeling queasy, he had more pressing concerns.
Fortunately, his weapon hadn’t suffered any damage from the impact. It was in good shape—better shape than him at the moment.
His head was spinning, with no time to ponder who was attacking them. After inspecting his weapon, Luo’er struggled to his feet and took up a guarded position, weapons at the ready.
The effects of Fulajie’er were undeniable. Under her efforts, the members of the Advance Team were gradually roused and crawled out of the aircraft, weapons in hand.
"Everyone alright?" Luo’er asked with concern.
"I’m fine." Cheng Ziang, rubbing a bump on his head caused by the impact, responded weakly.
"Luo’er, one of us is dead!" Fulajie’er suddenly reported, floating out of the aircraft.
"Who?" Hearing this, Luo’er’s heart jumped into his throat, his body instantly tensed up.
"It’s that dwarf in the aircraft." Fulajie’er answered.
"Damn, you scared me," Luo’er breathed a sigh of relief, his body going slack. He patted his chest then asked, "Only him?"
"Yes!" Fulajie’er nodded.
"Alright, I got it." Luo’er waved his hand, signaling Fulajie’er to go back to her duties.
At that moment, Feng crawled out of the aircraft, coughing violently the moment she hit the ground. Seeing her, Luo’er finally felt at ease.
When Fulajie’er had reported earlier, all members of the Advance Team had already emerged except Feng, which had prompted Luo’er to worry she had been hurt. The Seer had entrusted Feng to him, and Luo’er didn’t want anything to happen to her—he wouldn’t know how to explain that to the Seer.
After coughing a few times, Feng’s ears twitched. Immediately, her face grew serious, and picking up the longsword that had fallen earlier, she said, "Luo’er, someone’s coming."
"Enemies! Check your weapons and ammo, ready for combat!" Luo’er quickly ordered.
If Luo’er guessed right, Feng’s sensing range was about fifty meters. Since she had detected the enemy, it meant they were less than fifty meters away.
"Where are they roughly?" Luo’er asked Feng.
"There, there, and there!" Feng randomly pointed in several directions, indicating they were nearly surrounded.
"Everyone defend according to Feng’s directions. We’ll hide in the bush and catch them off guard!" Luo’er ordered.
"As for you," he looked at Feng and hesitated before saying, "You’re free to act, but don’t stray too far from the team!"
"Understood!" Feng nodded, responding calmly.
Luo’er’s attitude towards Feng was ambivalent. On the one hand, he feared she might get into trouble fighting these enemies. On the other hand, he was well aware of her combat power—she might even overpower those who dared to challenge her.
"Fula, continue scouting the enemies. Once the battle begins, switch to harassing mode and start harassing them!" Luo’er commanded to Fulajie’er.
"Understood!" Fulajie’er nodded and quickly disappeared in front of Luo’er.
