Chapter 574: Chapter 567: Sly and Proud Tsundere
Hearing Cheng Ziang’s words, Luoya fell into deep thought with the jade pendant in her hand. Seeing her quiet and downward gaze, Cheng couldn’t resist teasing, "Do you want me to help you put it on?"
Luoya looked up at him, her brows furrowed and her cheeks noticeably flushed. As she stowed the pendant into a red envelope and slipped it into her inner pocket, she maintained a wary gaze on Cheng.
"I was just joking, don’t take it seriously." Cheng explains, feeling a bit uneasy under her stern gaze.
Then, Luoya took a soft sigh, moving to one side with a melancholic expression as if worried about something.
"What’s the matter?" Cheng immediately walked up to her and asked from behind.
Turning her head to him, Luoya hesitated before murmuring, "I, I’m about to leave for Earth and, I’m a bit scared..."
Her last words were so quiet, he wouldn’t have heard them if he weren’t so close.
"What’s there to be afraid of?" Cheng asked, puzzled.
Upon hearing his straightforward high-profile remark, Luoya couldn’t help frowning and glaring at him. After another sigh, she murmured, "I’ve never been to Earth, of course I’d be scared. Who knows what it’s like there, whether they will look down on me..."
"That’s impossible. The concept of equality amongst everyone on Earth has been deeply rooted for a long time. You definitely won’t be discriminated against." Cheng confidently declared.
"How do you know? You’re not me. If I get discriminated against, will you take the blame for me?" Luoya rolled her eyes.
"Aren’t you just going to Haiya Academy? That’s where I studied. Your grandfather is the Principal there, and..." Cheng naturally starts to look Luoya up and down.
Feeling his unkind gaze, Luoya instinctively steps back, crossing her arms defensively and asking, "What are you trying to do? Be careful, or I’ll tell my brother!"
"Don’t always act so paranoid," Cheng said with a wry smile, then added, "There aren’t many half-elves like you in Haiya Academy, so they tend to be popular there. Even though half-elves are discriminated against around here, Elves’ appearance fits Earthlings’ aesthetic standards. I think what you have to worry about is how you’re going to fend off all those admirers, not discrimination."
"Does that Haiya Academy place also have half-elves?" asked Luoya with wide eyes.
"For goodness sake, Haiya Academy is a mixed-blood school. It’s filled with offspring of Earthlings and Otherworld inhabitants. You had no idea?" Cheng said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"How would I know? I’ve never been there." Luoya muttered, furrowing her brows.
"And these admirers you were talking about, what are they?" she asked.
"Oh, they’re the types who want to pursue you, who want a relationship with you," Cheng explained.
"Pursue, relationship?" Luoya tilted her head, questioning.
"Like, they want to be your lover!" Cheng vulgarly formed his hand into a kissing gesture.
As expected, Luoya blushed scarlet immediately, frowning and shooting him a glare.
"So, don’t let them have their way," Cheng said, a smirk playing on his lips.
Luoya fell quiet for a moment, then lifted her head to look at him and asked, "Will you be going to that Haiya Academy thing after I go?"
"Why would you want me to go with you?" Cheng asked, grinning.
"Because, because..." Luoya started mumbling, "Because if you go, my brother might go too..."
Her voice gradually fell to a whisper, reflecting that this wasn’t her true intention.
"Let’s see, I’ll visit you if I’m free," Cheng said, chuckling.
"If you don’t go, I might just start dating those admirers..." Luoya mumbled.
"What does whether I’m there or not have to do with you dating them or not?" Cheng asked puzzled.
Luoya didn’t respond, but gave him a meaningful glance, quickly lowering her gaze, the intention behind it clear. Cheng was momentarily stunned, but then a knowing grin spread across his face.
"Alright, I’ll make sure to visit if I can," he chuckled, then continued, "Or else, some people might get lonely."
"I won’t be lonely!" Luoya promptly turned around, glaring at him as she snapped.
"Ah, I wasn’t talking about you, I was referring to others," Cheng said, a grin gradually creeping onto his face.
Realizing she’d been tricked, Luoya took a deep breath and prepared to erupt, raising a clenched fist at Cheng.
"Be careful not to hurt yourself," he warned, taking a step back with a grin.
Luoya was near to bursting with annoyance. After holding her fist high for a while, she let it fall. Then, huffily, she headed towards the banquet area.
"Are you mad?" Cheng quickly followed her, calling out.
"No, go away!" Luoya loudly replied, her walking posture becoming slightly odd.
"Where are you going? I’ll go with you!" Cheng trailed behind her like a puppy. He knew that if Luoya were truly angry, she wouldn’t be speaking to him. Thus, he figured that her current behavior was just her acting petulant.
"I told you to go away!" Luoya yelled without turning her head, but secretly wished Cheng would catch up.
"Then, I’ll head back first!" Cheng shouted from behind her. But after that, Luoya heard nothing more from him.
Thinking about how she was about to leave for Earth and part ways with Cheng, Luoya felt an inexplicable panic in her heart. She stopped, spun around anxiously to search for him, and almost collided with the towering Cheng when she turned around. He was looking down at her with a victorious smile.
"You..." Luoya crooked her neck up to stare at him in shock.
"Ah, I guessed you couldn’t bear to part with me, so I stayed close to keep you company," Cheng declared, his face alight with a mischievous grin.
"Scram, just scram!" This time, Luoya truly lost her temper. Throwing kicks and punches, she drove Cheng away before hastily heading off towards the banquet area.
"Oops, seems like I went too far this time!" Cheng muttered, deciding to follow after her.
"Are you mad?" Cheng trotted up to her side and asked softly.
"No!" Luoya proclaimed loudly.
"Ah, you see, I was just playing around!" Cheng scratched his head as he spoke.
"Scram, get out of my sight!" Luoya swung a kick at Cheng but he easily dodged it.
"Wherever you’re going, I’ll come with you!" Cheng shamelessly offered.
"No need, I told you to leave!" Luoya huffed out.
