Chapter 512: Chapter 505: Kneeling and Begging for Mercy
"If you want it, take it back. I have no use for it!" Luoya glared at Luo’er, taking the pendant from within her blouse, and then fiercely threw it at him, about to storm away angrily.
"Where do you think you’re going, come back!" Luo’er catching the pendant, called out worriedly as he turned around.
"Where I go is none of your business. Now we’re even. You’re you, and I’m me!" Luoya retorted angrily.
"Fine, I won’t push you anymore, come back quickly!" Seeing Luoya’s angry disposition, Luo’er immediately softened and chased after her pleadingly.
"Stay away from me!" Luoya spun around and shouted, stepping back warily.
She didn’t notice what was behind her. After a few steps back, she accidentally bumped into a mercenary. Frowning, she turned to look at him only to find he was eyeing her strangely.
"You..." Luoya glared at him, about to snap, when the mercenary suddenly took a step forward, grabbing her by the throat and pressing a dagger against her jugular.
"What are you doing!" Although Luo’er reacted promptly, it was too late. He quickly raised his rifle, unlocked the safety, and pointed it at the mercenary.
"Don’t try anything, or I’ll slit her throat." The mercenary backed away a few steps, his stare icy.
"Do you realize what you’re doing?" Luo’er demanded, his face livid.
"Of course, I do," scoffed the mercenary, "Thirty thousand each for you two, plus the judge from Judgement Legion. That kind of money is more than what I could spend in several lifetimes."
"You ungrateful bastard, you were trained by headquarters!" Luo’er spat angrily.
"So what? Money makes the world go round. After selling you two, I won’t have to risk my life for the headquarters anymore!" Having trained with headquarters for so many years, the mercenary even knew a few idioms.
At his words, Luo’er’s face turned taut. His mind raced to find a way to save Luoya, but perhaps because Luoya was his sister, he couldn’t concentrate on forming a plan.
"Hey, put down the gun!" The mercenary hiding behind Luoya said.
"You think I would listen to you?" Luo’er retorted coldly.
"If you don’t obey, my dagger will leave a scar, right here on this young lady’s neck," the mercenary said with a cold smile, his dagger gliding across Luoya’s slender white neck.
Luoya’s eyes widened, a terrified expression on her face as she watched Luo’er. She could feel the sharp edge of the blade against her neck, making her immobilized, and was now being held hostage by the mercenary.
"Okay, okay, don’t hurt her, I’ll put down the gun!" Seeing the mercenary’s dagger move on Luoya’s neck, Luo’er panicked and slowly placed his gun on the ground, raising his hands.
Seeing Luo’er’s actions, Luoya was even more bewildered. What was he thinking? Right now, his gun was the only thing that could threaten the mercenary, yet he was willing to relinquish his weapon so hastily. Such recklessness led Luoya to question how Luo’er became captain.
"Isn’t this better? Now kneel!" Seeing Luo’er lay down his weapon, the mercenary peeked out from behind Luoya, smirking at his victory.
"I’ll kneel, I’ll kneel, just don’t hurt her!" Luo’er glanced at Luoya and then back at the mercenary. Spreading his arms, he slowly knelt to the ground.
"Throw away your pistol and dagger as well!" The mercenary continued to gloat, his face filled with a triumphant grin.
Luo’er remained silent, pulling out a pistol and dagger from his waist and throwing them where he could not reach. Watching his actions, Luoya became even more desperate. If Luo’er had a slim chance of counterattacking just a moment ago, now that basic hope was practically gone.
Seemingly enjoying the process of controlling Luo’er, the mercenary showed a satisfied smile. In front of Luoya, he continued to dominate Luo’er, "Hey, Captain Luo’er, offer me a kowtow, isn’t that a tradition of you Earthlings?"
With his teeth clenched, Luo’er did not utter a word and only silently complied. Seeing Luo’er in such humiliating circumstances, the mercenary’s face lit up with an even brighter smile. He leaned in close to Luoya’s shoulder and whispered in her ear, "Didn’t you say you hate him? Now are you happy? Don’t you think I’m treating you well?"
Luoya also remained quiet, but unlike Luo, she was seething with rage, her whole body shaking. Never had she imagined Luo’er would demean himself to such a level for her sake. She longed to resist the mercenary, even if it meant hurting herself, but simultaneously, she didn’t dare to move, fearing he would take the risk and slice her throat.
"If you have something against me, come at me. Don’t lay a finger on her!" Luo’er lifted his head and glared at the mercenary.
His gaze briefly met Luoya’s, and it seemed that the shame of having his sister see him in this disarray caused Luo’er to unwillingly lower his head. Luoya quietly watched him, a complex look flashing in her eyes.
"What would it take for you to let her go?" After some silence, Luo’er looked up at the mercenary, asking in a humble tone.
"Hmm, a ransom of thirty thousand gold pieces, it’s a bit tricky. How about you hand over your team members to me instead?" The mercenary suggested leisurely.
"Impossible!" Luo’er rejected him outright.
"Well, tough luck then!" said the mercenary.
After a moment of silence, Luo’er spoke again: "I’ll be your hostage, let her go!"
"That won’t work, she doesn’t listen to you. What if I capture you and she takes the chance to run away?" The mercenary retorted casually.
"No way!" was the response, but Luo’er couldn’t help but avert his eyes.
"Really?" The mercenary moved closer and looked at Luoya’s face only inches away, asking with a teasing smile.
Luoya clenched her teeth and held her silence for a while before finally murmuring, "No... won’t..."
"Alright then, let your brother come over here. Captain Luo’er, could you please crawl over here face down?" The mercenary did not hold back from humiliating Luo’er.
"Fine! Fine! Just let her go, I’ll do as you ask!" Luo’er suddenly burst out in excitement, his voice rising.
Without hesitation, he lowered himself to the ground and began to move, his butt sticking up in the air as he crawled face down, appearing comical. However, at such a time, Luoya couldn’t find any humor in the situation, but felt increasingly heartbroken.
Seeing Luo’er surrender under his feet, the mercenary relished a deep sense of pleasure. He had always looked down upon the Advance Team; now, the opportunity to mock the leader of that very team was bringing him great satisfaction.
However, he seemed to have let his guard down in all the celebration, failing to notice Luo’er’s unusual behavior. With Luoya, a beautiful woman, in his arms and Luo’er under his feet, he was feeling triumphant. He had even planned to kick Luo’er’s head a few times as soon as he crawled to his feet.
If he hadn’t been too relaxed, he might have felt a wave of killing intent behind him. As he was pondering ways to humiliate Luo’er, a sudden chill ran down his spine, followed immediately by losing control over his body. The dagger in his hand dropped noisily onto the ground.
Feeling the man’s body gradually fall behind her, Luoya turned around in surprise, only to find Cheng Ziang had appeared behind them at some point, his long sword in hand still dripping with blood.
The mercenary was lying on the ground, twitching in pain but unable to make a sound, even movement seemed beyond his control. Cheng Ziang lodged another strike with his sword, slashing from the mercenary’s right shoulder across to his left rib, even severing his entire spine. The mercenary lay flat on his back, eyes wide open but unable to move while blood started to pool beneath him from the gash in his back.
