Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 506 - 499: Pre-War Plan
Chapter 506: Chapter 499: Pre-War Plan
Luo’er carefully thought for a moment and decided to let Luoya join the advance team’s operation. After all, although she is not exactly a Theron, she was raised in the Ancient States since childhood and is far more familiar with the place than anyone else.
However, considering he might be unable to command her, Luo’er could only pin his hopes on Cheng Ziang, hoping that he could restrain Luoya and prevent her from causing any mishaps.
Despite boasting a force of hundreds, Luo’er could actually only command three small mercenary teams, a total of just thirty people. As for the fifty knights of the Judgement Legion who were ostensibly under Li Si’s command, but were in fact following his directives, Luo’er was absolutely unable to command them.
Moreover, there is a difference in weaponry between the Judgement Legion, the mercenaries, and the advance team. Although the armor defense capabilities of the Judgement Legion are not bad, they cannot compensate for their disadvantage in the face of firearms. Using them as spearheads in battle might not generate clear results.
Most importantly, while they do have transport planes for convenient troop transfer, this type of transport plane can carry a maximum of only ten people at a time. That is to say, even if two transport planes are sent out together, they can transport only two mercenary teams to the specified location.
The limitations of transport capacity have led to their inability to airdrop more troops to the specified location in three dimensions, so it is essential to carefully consider the deployment of forces.
Based on the discussion, they decided to have the Judgement Legion distract the enemy’s defense forces, and then transport the mercenaries and advance team to the enemy’s weakly defended positions. Their task would be to destroy the equipment related to the Creating God Plan and capture the relevant personnel.
Although the Creating God Plan was initiated by the Ancient States Parliament, the main defense force was still the religious nature Theron. As for the Ancient States’ regular army, it has not yet gotten involved. Invasion by the Judgement Legion was considered part of a religious war, and thus, the Ancient States’ regular army didn’t intervene in this religious conflict.
Because of this, Li Si vehemently advised them time and again not to reveal their identities. If the Judgement Legion were to solely conduct an attack on the Creating God Plan, the Ancient States would dispatch Therons to protect the facilities and relevant personnel. However, if it is confirmed that Earth and High-peak people have intervened in this plan, it’s highly likely that the Ancient States regular army will also get involved.
Looking at Li Si’s existing strength, even handling the Therons is somewhat of a stretch, not to mention the large-scale Ancient States’ regular army.
For any operation, pre-war intelligence gathering is most critical. At the moment, their understanding of the Creating God Plan is limited to the blueprint information provided by the Church Court to the headquarters. To utterly destroy the plan, pre-war reconnaissance is necessary.
After the discussion, they made the following arrangements. First, the Judgement Legion would mount a horse attack from north to south, distracting the Therons and tricking them into deploying the majority of their forces against the Judgement Legion.
Next, the advance team, serving as the reconnaissance force, and accompanied by a squad of mercenaries, would fly over the sea from the south and reach Nailin Town on the southern shore. This town is less than twenty kilometers away from the base of the Creating God Plan, making it the top choice for the advance team to set foot in.
Though they do have transport planes for troop transfer, to avoid suspicion, the transport planes could only fly at night. The transport plane pilots sent by Ronisca were specialized for night-time flight.
Luo’er thought, since this is just preliminary reconnaissance, there’s no need to garrison a large force in Nailin Town. Thus, the three members of the advance team, Luoya, and one squad of mercenaries should be sufficient to handle the current situation.
After reaching a tentative agreement at the combat meeting, Li Si called Tangmo, Baiyue, and Nightingale to arrange their roles.
"Shangguan Jiu!" called Li Si.
"Yes!" Shangguan Jiu stepped forward.
"You’ll establish a communication link with Cheng Ziang. From now on, you’ll work as a liaison on the airboat," Li Si commanded.
"Ah?" Shangguan Jiu was taken aback. She then turned and looked at Luo’er with wide eyes.
"Is there a problem?" Li Si asked while looking at her.
"Can I connect with Luo’er?" asked Shangguan Jiu tentatively.
"Luo’er is the captain, she should establish a connection with Nightingale!" Li Si promptly denied her request.
Seeing her disappointed expression, Cheng Ziang shrugged, quite indifferent to being disliked.
Since Tangmo and Baiyue needed to stay on the airboat to work, the magic messenger had to be readjusted, and this time, Tangmo was finally free from serving as the liaison of the advance team.
Shangguan Jiu pouted and, somewhat reluctantly, came to Nightingale and extended the back of her hand. Nightingale tore off a sticker and peeling it onto her hand. Once the pattern was fully attached to her skin, she pulled off the sticker paper.
In the past, magic messengers were generally hand-drawn. However, Nightingale gave her suggestions to the scientists at the Magic Research Center which led them to creatively research these rune stickers, reducing her workload.
Although Tangmo and Baiyue did not have to participate in the early stages of the battle, they were members of the advance team after all, and their combat power was quite considerable. Therefore, Li Si did not make them liaisons. Instead, he made Nightingale and Shangguan Jiu take on this role. When necessary, the two girls would still have to fight.
The plan was set, and they just had to wait until nightfall. Only when it got dark could they embark on their transport plane for a parachute drop to Nailin Town. The Judgement Legion, having run here in a disorganized retreat, only had about thirty horses, so they couldn’t throw all their troops into containment duties. Li Si still decided to let them attack in batches, also to save a batch of reserve troops.
By around seven in the evening, the sky finally began to darken, and by this time, the pilots of the transport plane had also prepared for the assault. They couldn’t be equipped with night vision goggles, so they could only rely on their excellent night vision capabilities and extensive experience with night flying to ensure the safety of this transportation.
Considering that Luoya couldn’t use firearms, Luo’er didn’t give her any weapons, instead entrusting Cheng Ziang to protect her. This fellow probably said something to Luoya, and the girl obediently got on the transport plane with them. Still, she remained silent when she was with him.
This transport plane was the same model as the one they made their escape on a year ago. The High-peak people had only removed the machine gun at the rear of the cabin, clearly not planning on using the transport plane as a combat force on the battlefield.
The main force of the Advance Team and a small mercenary squad each boarded two transport planes. As Hu Daoke patted the fuselage of the plane, he remarked, "Back in the day we used to play around in one of these, being chased all over the sky by Ronisca’s scout plane."
"Keep it down. If the pilot and the liaison officer hear you, that could spell trouble," Luo’er advised after glancing at him.
"Do they understand Chinese?" asked Hu Daoke, his eyes bulging.
"Who knows. Just try to keep a low profile, and don’t speak Chinese during the mission," Luo’er replied.
"Got it," Hu Daoke nodded.
With a shake of the fuselage, the transport plane’s anti-gravity engine started, lazily lifting itself from the airboat. Next, the propellers on both wings of the transport plane started to hum, making a deafening noise, causing Luoya to frown and cover her ears.
The two transport planes, while the sky was not yet completely dark, started to adjust their flying posture and formed a flight formation, heading towards the sea.
According to the previous plan, the transport planes would fly along the coast and then reach near the coastline of Nailin Town to let everyone down. This distance would take about three hours by the transport plane, but they would have had to walk for several days otherwise.
Fortunately, the sky was very clear at this time, without any clouds, only stars. The two transport planes were flying at a height of about two hundred meters from the sea level, like two giant black ghosts, quickly flying to their destination in the sky.
