Chapter 485: Chapter 478: Mixed Feelings of Joy and Sorrow

"You seem to really enjoy meddling in these sort of affairs!" Luoya said, her eyebrows furrowed.

"You always have such a harsh way with words." Cheng Ziang responded with a light laugh.

"Luo’er is not only the captain of our Advance Team, but also our team’s mascot," there was a pause before he continued, "hence, we deeply care about his happiness. If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t have bothered at all."

Luoya stared down at the polished floor, remaining silent for a long while before she finally murmured, "I need some time to calm down, we’ll discuss this later."

"Go on, take some time to think things through." Cheng Ziang did not force her to react immediately, instead giving her some time to process everything.

After walking a few steps forward, Luoya suddenly stopped, turned her head to glance at Cheng Ziang, and mumbled, "Busybody!"

Despite the bite in her words, her tone didn’t hold any bitter resentment, but oddly gave off a teasing air instead. Upon hearing her comment, Cheng Ziang was instinctively taken aback.

At the top of the tower, the mother and son finally stopped their emotional outpouring. With red-rimmed eyes, Nina gazed at Luo’er. From his figure, Nina could see the silhouette of Luo Chuan, the man who had constantly occupied her thoughts.

Gazing at Nina up close, Luo’er shook his head, finding it hard to believe that everything was real. Tangmo and Baiyue, visibly excited, approached him. With Nina’s sudden appearance, they hadn’t had a chance to embrace Luo’er. They stood on edge, clutching at his clothes, as if they would jump to embrace him the moment Nina stepped away.

"Moumou, Yue’er, this isn’t a dream right?" Luo’er rubbed his head, speaking incredulously.

"Of course it’s not a dream. We were dead worried about you when you were unconscious for so long," Tangmo said, her words choking with tears.

"Where are we?" inquired Luo’er.

"We’re obviously in Ilanadale!" Tangmo responded excitedly.

"We are in the capital of Ilanadale - Divine Wood Town," Baiyue added, her voice a little more composed.

"Divine Wood Town? Weren’t we supposed to be at the border of Ilanadale and Ancient States?" Luo’er asked, frowning.

"You are obviously out of it, you’ve been unconscious for more than a month," Tangmo informed him.

"Over a month..." Luo’er exclaimed in surprise, "What about our mission...".

"Forget about the mission for now. You’re the most important," Tangmo advised.

"Luo’er, do you remember your mother?" Nina asked, staring intently at him.

"Of course, I do," Luo’er responded, nodding vigorously.

"Unbeknownst to me, our Luo’er has grown so much. Last time we met, you were just a tiny tot," Nina said, fondly stroking his black hair as she spoke.

Of everyone present there, she probably had the most right to refer to Luo’er as ’our Luo’er’.

"It’s been so many years, but mom, you look just the same." Luo’er gazed at her, speaking frankly.

To the elves, twenty years only aged them by two. When Nina had left thirty years ago, she was equivalent to a seventeen or eighteen years old human, so she could only be in her early twenties now.

Upon hearing his words, Nina broke out in a genuine smile, "I made the right choice back then. If you had stayed with me, you might have had to endure many hardships. It seems like you’ve lived well on Earth."

Hearing her words, Tangmo and Baiyue exchanged glances, unsure of what to say. While Luo’er’s life on Earth may not have been as harsh as another world, it wasn’t exactly a bed of roses either. Otherwise, he would not have had a twenty-year long Cold War with his grandfather.

Luo’er did not respond, instead he bowed his head in silence. At the moment, his mind was overwhelmed and found processing complex information quite challenging.

"Your father’s health has improved, hasn’t it? When will he be coming back so we could reunite as a family?" Nina asked with a smile.

"Father..." Upon hearing this word, Luo’er instinctively froze for a moment before raising his head to look at her. Before Tangmo and Baiyue could react and stop him, he said blankly, "My father... he has passed away..."

"You...you...what do you mean by...passed away?" Upon hearing his words, the smile on Nina’s face abruptly faded. She stared at him in bewilderment, stuttering her question.

"My father passed away after he returned to Earth." Luo’er said blankly, still not fully grasping the situation.

"Luo, Luo Chuan, Luo Chuan is dead?" Nina’s whole body began to tremble, her voice shaking. She stared blankly at Luo’er, her eyes already becoming lifeless.

She whimpered, her speech carrying a note of crying. She watched Luo’er blankly, focusing on his black hair as her tears, unable to be restrained, flowed freely.

"Luo Chuan is dead?" Nina, seeming as if her soul had been sucked away, left Luo’er in a daze. She walked towards the stairs like a walking dead, swaying all the way.

"Princess Nina, please calm down!" The anxious priest exclaimed, seeing that something was wrong. If Nina were to miss a step, she could roll right down to the bottom of the tower, a drop of nearly twenty meters.

"Mum, don’t go!" Tangmo and Baiyue rushed over, each grabbing one of Nina’s hands to prevent her from moving forward.

Nina, suddenly stopped, seemed to open some sort of floodgate. She collapsed uncontrollably to the ground and began to cry out in desperation, "Impossible, impossible... he said he would come back... impossible, impossible...."

"Boss..." Watching Nina cry in grief, Hu Daoke approached Luo’er and cautiously said, "We didn’t dare to tell your mother about your father’s situation. We thought you would find the right time to tell her, but it seems you’ve told her at the wrong moment."

"This..." Only then did Luo’er jolt back to reality. But the damage was done. Nina now knew about Luo Chuan’s death and was crying uncontrollably.

"Liar, liar, big liar, you said you were coming back, you said you would..." Nina covered her face, her final words choked down by her sobs, replaced with more tears. No amount of soothing words from Tangmo and Baiyue made any difference.

What was supposed to be a joyful reunion between mother and son was complicated by news of Luo Chuan’s death. Luo’er didn’t know how to comfort Nina. The best comfort would have been to hide Luo Chuan’s death. But what’s destined to come, will come. He couldn’t hide it forever, and Nina had to face this cruel reality sooner or later.

In the end, Nina, who was crying almost to the point of fainting, with the assistance of the elf guards and the two girls, was taken back to her room. With the help of Hu Daoke and Cheng Ziang, Luo’er slowly headed towards their treehouse.

Luo’er, who had been unconscious for many days, had some muscle atrophy and needed some time to recover.

"You’re really something. We didn’t dare to tell your mother, but you blurted it out at the worst possible time," Cheng Ziang teased as he helped Luo’er back.

"What’s supposed to come will come, it’s better she knows now than keeping her in the dark," replied Luo’er, who had regained his ability to think clearly and no longer seemed aloof.

"Do you remember how you passed out?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"I seem to have been shot down by a girl’s arrow, her name seems to be Noah. Be careful when you see her," Luo’er said, knitting his brows in thought.

Upon hearing his words, Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke exchanged looks and couldn’t help but laugh. Then Cheng Ziang said, "That’s not right. The girl’s name should be Luoya."

"Luoya?" Luo’er looked at him in confusion.

"Yes, that’s your sister, didn’t you know?" said Cheng Ziang.

"Sister, wait..." Luo’er looked at him with a puzzled face.

"Don’t misunderstand, she’s your biological sister, the same mother, the same father," Cheng Ziang added, knowing what he was thinking.

"What’s going on?" Luo’er’s mind was in a twist again.

"It’s a long story, let’s talk about it when we get back," sighed Cheng Ziang.
