Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 482 - 475: Discovering an Old Illness
Chapter 482: Chapter 475: Discovering an Old Illness
Luoya stared silently at Luo’er’s bare upper body submerged in the green liquid. This was her brother, the brother she had never met since his birth. The god in the Olavia Sisters’ hearts, the defender of the weak.
Luoya noticed that Luo’er also resembled their mother in some ways, but he had a head of black hair that didn’t quite match. In comparison, Luoya’s features were much more distinct, with only one eye resembling their father’s.
She recalls what Cheng Ziang said, feeling his words were true. She was indeed evading responsibility, thinking that blaming Luo’er would ease her guilt, but she never had any evidence to justify hurting Luo’er.
If she knew her actions would cause her mother such heartbreak, she would rather die than do what she did.
Lurking behind Luo’er was the powerful support from their parents’ generation. It won’t be long before a massive airboat lands in Divine Wood Down, bringing monumental changes to this ancient country. That was the power behind Luo’er.
She had seen airboats a few times as a child, mostly flying in mid-air. This time, she will get the chance to see this classic transportation of the Otherworld Continent up close for the first time.
After a long silence, Luoya didn’t speak a word, because she knew Luo’er wouldn’t hear her. As she stepped out of the room, the priest stood at the door, arms folded, nodding his head in acknowledgement when he saw her.
"Thank you for bearing with me, High Priest." Luoya exclaimed as she bowed slightly to the Elf priest.
"You’re welcome, Little Princess, feel free to come back anytime!" The priest responded with a smile and a nod.
As representatives from headquarters drew closer to Divine Wood Down, Cheng Ziang began to worry. For certain reasons, he had not informed the headquarters about Luo’er’s status, leading them to believe that all plans were made by Luo’er.
His original plan was to have the priest of Divine Wood Down awaken Luo’er before the headquarters arrived. Even if Luo’er was injured, he could return to Yazhi City for treatment with the airboat. However, the priests’ treatment was slow and seemed more like they were delaying time.
If the headquarters realized Luo’er’s situation when they arrive, he would undoubtedly be reprimanded. This failure to report a reduction in the Advance Team could cause huge inconvenience for headquarters’ planning.
Just as he was worrying, the priests finally sent someone to find them, asking them to come over to the pyramid as there seemed to be something they needed to discuss.
Out of concern for Luo’er, Nina and Luoya accompanied the Advance Team to the pyramid. Upon entering the main door at the base, the priest immediately asked, "Why didn’t you tell us about Luo’er’s injury?"
"Didn’t we already say that?" Hu Daoke scratched his head, turning to Cheng Ziang after hearing the priest’s words.
"What injury are you referring to?" Cheng Ziang asked calmly.
"His magical body was severely damaged, why did none of you mention it?" The priest asked, his face creased in a serious frown.
"Well, this..." Hu Daoke scratched his head, looking guiltily at Cheng Ziang.
"That was my oversight, I apologize!" Cheng Ziang promptly admitted his mistake, sincerely apologizing to the priest.
"So, his magical body being damaged... it’s severe?" Tangmo stepped forward and asked nervously.
Her reaction was because Luo’er’s magical body damage was largely caused by her.
"If you had spoken earlier, we could have made adjustments. We could be conducting the awakening ceremony now, but now it will take a few more days." The priest shook his head and sighed.
"Why has Luo’er suffered a magic injury?" Nina stepped forward, frowning with concern.
This was a condition that gripped her heart each time she heard of it, for it was due to this illness that Luo Chuan had had to part ways with her. If Luo’er also had this condition, did it imply that he was unable to fully adapt to the environment of the Otherworld?
"It is likely the result of forcing Arcane powers while physically injured. Luo’er’s body does not suffer harm from the magic in the air," the Priest pondered before responding.
Arcane was the Elf Race’s term for magic. The fact that Luo’er could perform magic, let alone doing it while injured, made Nina glance anxiously at Cheng Ziang and the others, seeking answers in their reactions.
"Uh, for various reasons, Luo’er has indeed performed magic under such circumstances before. However, even back on our side, such actions are against the rules." Cheng Ziang scratched his head as he faced Nina’s gaze. He decided not to reveal the true nature of the matter to Nina, sparing Tangmo any embarrassment.
"Can his health be restored?" Nina asked with concern.
"We will do our best, but we can’t guarantee a full recovery to his previous state," the Priest hesitated, giving a slightly disappointing answer.
Upon hearing this, Cheng Ziang nodded in understanding. At least the doctors in Ilanadale could treat Luo’er’s physique, unlike the doctors back on Earth who were entirely helpless in the face of Luo’er’s condition. Otherwise, Luo’er’s damaged physique would have been healed long ago.
Regardless, partial recovery was still a positive outcome as he wouldn’t run out of breath due to the presence of powerful magic fluctuations in the future.
"Excuse me, Priest, when will Luo’er wake up at the earliest?" Cheng Ziang asked.
"Four days!" the Priest responded after a moment’s thought.
"I see." Cheng Ziang nodded. There was approximately a week left until the arrival of the representatives from headquarters. This period was enough for Luo’er to recover satisfactorily.
When the time came, Luo’er would be able to negotiate with the representatives from headquarters without raising any suspicions. Otherwise, if the representatives from headquarters found Luo’er still bed-ridden, he would definitely be in for some heavy criticism.
Having received a clear answer from the priest, everyone returned to their accommodation to wait. During this period, the Advance Team continued to flex their muscles to impress the nobility of Ilanadale. If the airboat from the headquarters didn’t bring enough ammunition when it arrived, they would have to obediently return to Yazhi City with it.
In the open square, the Advance Team demonstrated their signature move, Silent Breach, to the queen and the nobility. Though the headquarters had formulated the plan, it was actually Luo’er who first discovered and put the strategy to use. Thus it could be said that Luo’er had created the strategy himself.
Silent Breach, a combination of magic and firearms, was the perfect fusion of Earth technology and Otherworld magic. It had become part of the academy’s assessment since the Advance Team first demonstrated it in a competition. In other words, Luo’er directly created a new subject in the test.
The original version of Silent Breach was demanding for mages due to its complex operations, so the academy made constant adjustments. Initially, a single mage was required to continuously execute two runes, but this responsibility was later distributed between two mages.
The Advance Team’s method relied heavily on Tangmo’s talent for magic, and thus lacked reproducibility. In contrast, the modified version was more suitable for regular teams.
As Tangmo activated two spells consecutively, the sound waves in the area of effect were frozen again, making sounds unable to travel in or out freely. The demolition rune on the door exploded silently. The Assault Team members followed standard protocol and made their way into the door in battle formation after throwing a shock bomb inside.
Their smooth execution of the tactic elicited cheers from the spectators. As the silence spell wore off and the cheering of the crowd filled their ears, the members couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and an odd similarity to a circus performance.
For this alliance, the Advance Team had given their all. From the beginning, the relationship between Ilanadale and the headquarters, facilitated by Nina and Luo’er, started on a higher level than other partnerships. Hence, both the Advance Team and the headquarters hoped for a successful alliance.
