Chapter 478: Chapter 471: Ilanadale’s Medical Technology
With the news of the great victory spreading all over Ilanadale, the Advance Team also garnered prestige in Divine Wood Town. The various cities even started discussing cooperation with the headquarters, reaching a basic consensus.
Promising as she did, the queen took Luo’er away for treatment. The medical work in Ilanadale was mainly carried out by the clergy. Worried that these people might be unskilled, the members of the advance team, including Nina, accompanied them to prevent them from messing around.
Several elf soldiers brought Luo’er to the pyramid in the square. Only then did Cheng Ziang and the others realize that there was a door at the base of the pyramid, which turned out to be the special medical center of Ilanadale.
They entered the pyramid, where there was a room filled with various pipes, inexplicably industrial in style, completely out of place in a jungle city like Ilanadale.
At the center of the room was a transparent vat filled with a green transparent liquid. After ordering the soldiers to bring Luo’er here, the priest respectfully told Nina, "Princess, we need to undress the wounded. Would you and the women please wait outside?"
"I am his mother!" Nina said gruffly.
"No matter who you are, can you please leave," the priest said with a smile, "if the injured person were conscious, he too would not allow you in the room."
"Can we be in here?" Cheng Ziang stepped forward and asked in Tasta language.
"Of course, feel free!" the priest replied with a smile. He understood Tasta language too, but his speech carried a southern accent.
"Aunt, you, and Moumou and Yue’er wait outside. Old Hu and I will handle it here." Cheng Ziang said to Nina, comforting her.
Nina looked at him, then nodded assuredly, reluctantly taking Tangmo and Baiyue out of the room, leaving it.
"Do you need us to do anything?" After Nina and the girls left, Cheng Ziang turned to the priest and asked.
"If possible, could you please undress him and place him in there?" The priest said, pointing to the vat in the center of the room.
"What is this stuff inside?" Hu Daoke couldn’t help but ask, looking at the liquid inside.
"This is Holy Water!" The priest explained.
"Holy Water?" Hu Daoke exclaimed.
Cheng Ziang gave him a kick, stared at him and said, "Don’t engage in wild guesses!"
The two began to undress Luo’er. Even though they were already very familiar with each other, this was their first time dressing him. Seeing Luo’er’s fair skin, Hu Daoke couldn’t help but whistle, earning several more kicks from Cheng Ziang.
Before long, Luo’er became stark naked. The two held him and slowly submerged him into the vat. The vat was two or three meters long, enough for Luo’er to lay flat inside.
"Wait, put this on first!" The priest stopped them and picked up a mask from the side of the vat, placing it on Luo’er’s face. They noticed that there was a tube on the mask, leading to a container outside the vat.
"This is a respirator!" Cheng Ziang couldn’t help exclaiming, also raising doubts about Ilanadale’s medical technology.
They had originally thought that these clergies would treat Luo’er in a way reminiscent of shamanistic rituals, but unexpectedly, what they were seeing felt oddly familiar.
After putting on the mask, Luo’er was submerged in the liquid of the vat. Although the liquid was green, they could still see Luo’er at the bottom of the vat. His eyes were tightly closed, as if he was asleep. His soft hair swayed with the undulation of the water.
After all this was done, the priest went to one side of the vat and pressed his hand on a protruding stone slab, at the same time muttering. The two felt a sudden fluctuation in the surrounding magic, immediately followed by a glow in the vat, emitting a faint green light, as if a light was shining from the bottom.
For some reason, they felt an odd sense of discord. What unfolded before them was neither magical nor even creating a sense of hard science fiction.
Nevertheless, the priest remained unmoved, obviously accustomed to such a procedure. After lighting up the green liquid in the vat, he walked over to a stone table, dipped a quill in ink, and started to record something on a scroll.
"What kind of injury does he have?" the priest asked, looking at them.
"Oh, an arrow wound," Cheng Ziang hastily replied, regaining his senses.
Hearing his words, the priest recorded them on the paper. The writing was in Elvish, so the two could not understand it at all.
"Location of the wound?" the priest continued to ask.
"The heart!" Cheng Ziang answered.
"When was he shot by the arrow?" the priest asked.
"It was over a month ago," Cheng Ziang hesitated to say.
"Was the arrow pulled out?" the priest asked.
"It was removed!" Cheng Ziang nodded.
"Was there poison on the arrow?" the priest asked again.
"No!"
"Did you summon Tana after the injury?" the priest asked.
"Huh?" Cheng Ziang was taken aback.
"He means a state of suspended animation!" Hu Daoke reminded on the side.
"Oh, yes, yes!" Cheng Ziang nodded hastily in agreement.
"Alright, you two can leave for now." After recording the injuries, the priest stood up and asked them to leave.
"What about him?" Cheng Ziang asked hesitantly, nodding towards Luo’er.
"He needs some time to recuperate. We can only wake him up once his body has fully recovered," the priest replied.
"Thank you so much," Cheng Ziang said respectfully.
"No, this is what we are supposed to do. You have saved our brothers and sisters from the foreign tribes. We are all in your debt," the priest responded politely.
As the two left the room, Hu Daoke glanced back once and said to Cheng Ziang, "Damn, the medical facilities of Ilanadale are surprisingly advanced."
"If the liquid in that vat is indeed therapeutic, then Ilanadale’s medical knowledge is indeed advanced, at least advanced beyond the current level of Earth," Cheng Ziang replied, glancing back.
"I also get a strong sense of déjà vu to Earth, don’t you feel it?" Hu Daoke asked.
"It is indeed strange. For a nation that worships the gods, their medical facilities are surprisingly advanced. It appears we have been greatly underestimating Ilanadale," Cheng Ziang reflected.
As they walked out of the room, Nina and the two girls were sitting at the entrance of the pyramid waiting. It was the rainy season in Ilanadale, and a heavy rain had begun. Despite the dense canopy of the towering Divine Wood, some raindrops inevitably fell to the ground. The leaves falling from the trees were increasing due to the rain; it was like a leaf shower beneath the tree canopy.
Tangmo and Baiyue continued to laugh and chat with Nina, their relationship looking just like a mother and her children. As Cheng Ziang came out of the pyramid, he saw a familiar figure hurriedly leaving.
It was a woman with a cloaked hood, and seeing the familiar silhouette, Cheng Ziang knew who it was.
He broke away from the crowd and headed towards the figure. After crossing the square and going around a corner, he saw her leaning against the wall, looking downcast and crestfallen.
"Why don’t you go in and see?" Cheng Ziang approached her and asked with a grin.
The woman gave a start, but as soon as she saw Cheng Ziang, she immediately calmed down and frowned, saying discontentedly, "Can’t you mind your own business?"
"You’re always stubborn. Your mother will eventually be taken over by those two girls," Cheng Ziang shrugged, then leaned against the wall beside her.
"Let them take her!" Luoya said stubbornly.
"Stop being stubborn, just apologize to your mother and brother, it’s as simple as that," Cheng Ziang suggested.
"I didn’t do anything wrong!" Luoya said, standing abruptly and turning to look at him.
"Sigh," Cheng Ziang sighed slightly before continuing, "Apologizing doesn’t mean you did anything wrong, it’s just a way of reconciling with your mother and brother. If you keep being stubborn and self-righteous, your family relationship will eventually break apart."
Luoya lowered her head, remaining silent.
"I know your brother, when he wakes up, there’s no need for you to apologize. Because as long as you are his sister, he will forgive you unconditionally. But is that really what you want? You hurt your brother, and made your mother sad. Isn’t she the one you care the most about? Why are you making her sad?" Cheng Ziang said slowly.
