Chapter 456 - 449: Nina’s Determination

Chapter 456: Chapter 449: Nina’s Determination

However, even though the Elf Patrol recognized Nina’s identity, they still showed no intention of leaving. The rest of the elves continued to kneel, while the Captain, looking serious, said a few words to Nina, who promptly began arguing with him fervently.

Baiyue, responsible for driving the carriage, listened to their conversation without any noticeable reaction. Although she couldn’t understand Elvish, learning it would be rather effortless for her. After all, she was the human translator of the Advance Team, specializing in learning languages and scripts she was interested in.

During their activity of the past few months, she had diligently managed to interpret the contents of her father’s diary with the help of a Russian dictionary. She estimated that she could probably pass a beginner’s test if she went back to Earth.

Tangmo, lacking Baiyue’s patience, simply ignored any past grudges and asked Luoya directly: "What are your mom and her arguing about?"

Luoya was listening to her mother’s conversation with the Elf Patrol Captain, and looked at Tangmo with a mixed facial expression when she heard her question.

"Mother said...Luo... my brother, is the Queen’s grandson. She can’t... we can’t just ignore that... so, she wants to see the Queen..." Luoya stuttered, her understanding was accurate, even though she wasn’t completely fluent. After all, she grew up in the Ancient States and was more proficient in Tasta with a southern accent than in Elvish.

In the traditions of the Otherworld, there’s no distinction between one’s mother’s family and one’s father’s family. Both grandmothers are called the same thing. The same goes for grandsons; there’s no term for a grandson through a daughter.

"So even Nina’s own son can be left to die by the Queen?" Hearing Luoya’s words, Tangmo turned to look at Nina with a worried expression.

Nina was arguing loudly with the Patrol Captain, her eyes widened in anger and her expression fierce. Her neck’s veins were bulging. This was anything but the elegance of an elf. What they saw was an outraged mother fighting for her son.

In stark contrast to her was the Patrol Captain. Despite Nina’s rage, he retained his elven elegance and calm, sternly refusing Nina’s request.

Nina was shaking with anger, and everyone could feel the waves of her rage. She jumped off the carriage and walked straight in front of the Patrol Captain, her eyes wide and locked onto him.

The Patrol Captain felt uncomfortable under Nina’s gaze, even doubting if the person in front of her was indeed Princess Nina. In just over thirty years, how had she changed so much?

Nina glared at her, asking another harsh question. But she was still speaking in Elvish, and almost no one except Luoya could understand.

The Patrol Captain responded politely to her without changing his tone, obviously declining Nina’s request.

Nina watched his face, smiling cruelly. But suddenly, and inexplicably, she started crying. Unresponsive to her actions, Nina suddenly pulled out a dagger from the Patrol Captain’s waist, stepped back, and confronted him.

Seeing her actions, the other Elf Patrol members finally got up and drew their bows, aiming at her. At the same time, Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke of the Advance Team raised their guns again. It seemed that a battle was about to break out.

However, what happened next was unexpected by all. Instead of attacking the Patrol Captain, Nina held the dagger against her own neck, looked at the Patrol Captain with a resigned-to-fate expression, and yelled.

"Mother, what are you doing!" The first one to speak was Luoya. She rushed out of the carriage anxiously, looking at Nina with concern.

Facing Nina’s crazy move, the Patrol Captain seemed a bit shaken. He opened his arms, saying something, but his tone was not as harsh as before.

Nina shook wildly with the dagger, her face twisted as she roared like a shrew. In her agitation, she didn’t even notice that the dagger had already scratched a thin line of blood on her neck.

She screamed hoarsely, like an enraged beast, splattering tear drops, saliva, and snot everywhere.

Nina was ready to risk everything. If the Captain of the Elf Patrol refused to let her off today, she would choose to die right in front of her. If the queen were to reprimand her, the Captain wouldn’t be able to escape blame either.

The Elven Captain, distressed, kept imploring. The last thing she wanted was for Nina to die right in front of her. If Nina indeed turned out to be the princess of Ilanadale, it would be the end of her career.

"Everyone, please put down your weapons. Can we talk this out calmly?" At this moment, Cheng Ziang suddenly raised his hand, put down his weapon, and yelled out loud.

At his words, all attention was diverted to him, including Nina’s who was on the verge of going berserk.

"Auntie Nina, can you translate for them?" Cheng Ziang asked, slowly walking towards Nina.

The great advantage of having Nina as the translator was that he didn’t even need to speak Tasta, as Nina understood most of Chinese.

Nina looked at him, then turned to glower at the Elf Patrol Captain, and said a few words. Following a signal from the Captain, the surrounding elven soldiers put their weapons down.

"And you, Auntie Nina, Luo’er is waiting for you. Don’t do anything rash!" Cheng Ziang came close to Nina, carefully removing the short sword across her neck.

One had to admit, the elf’s short sword felt just right in his hand. He reckoned it was made of some special metal, much lighter than iron, and it felt great.

After pulling out Nina’s short sword and inspecting it, Cheng Ziang held the blade and handed the hilt to the Captain. She studied him warily before reluctantly accepting the short sword and putting it back into the sheath.

Next, Cheng Ziang pulled out a tissue from his pocket, handed it to Nina, and said, "Auntie Nina, I want to talk to them. Can you translate for me?"

Nina was slightly surprised. She nodded and accepted his kindness, took the tissue and said softly, "Thank you."

"Hello, my name is Cheng Ziang, and I’m the acting captain of the Advance Team!" Cheng Ziang bowed slightly to show respect.

After hearing Nina’s translation, the Patrol Captain nodded and respectfully replied, "I am Millie, the captain of the Elf Patrol."

The young man in front of her may look young, but the Captain couldn’t shake off the feeling that he was not one to be trifled with. After all, one doesn’t strike a smiling face. Cheng Ziang was polite and respectful, so she didn’t feel right to display any arrogance.

"Nice to meet you, Captain Millie. I was wondering if you know about the Otherworld Gate?" After some courtesies, Cheng Ziang asked directly.

"Of course, I do. The Otherworld Gate is in Yazhi City up in the north. What do you ask?" Millie responded tentatively.

"Beyond the Otherworld Gate lies a new world that we call Earth. Do you know about it, Captain Millie?" Cheng Ziang continued to probe.

"Earth..." Millie pronounced the word awkwardly. She then furrowed her brows, "To us, that’s the Otherworld. What are you getting at?"

"Oh," Cheng Ziang nodded, flashing a smile, "We come from that Earth, so we are Earthlings, or in your language, people from the
