Chapter 384: Chapter 377: Fortunate
"Are you going to stop us?" Luo’er turned around and asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Although I don’t want to, in a certain sense, we should be considered enemies. So I’m sorry." Azita said and a handgun that was not there before now appeared in her hand, its dark muzzle pointed straight at Luo’er.
Facing the muzzle, Luo’er didn’t flinch because he knew once he panicked, his entire momentum would instantaneously collapse. He stared at Azita, and coldly asked, "Mr. Azita, do you plan to offend us for the sake of Fu’en and the CIA? Is it worth it? Don’t forget, we have the Church Court behind us."
"I’m really sorry, but we should be considered enemies. I can kill both of you, can’t I?" Azita said with a relaxed smile.
"To kill us is to offend the Church Court and headquarters at the same time. I don’t quite understand. A mere leader of the Hound Gang wants to offend the two largest forces at the same time. Do you truly think the backing force behind you will quell this incident for you?" Luo’er asked, looking at him."
"I kill people on my turf, who can see? There are many ways for you two to die, maybe you were bitten by a dog, maybe you drowned. But what does your death have to do with us?" Azita’s smile didn’t fade.
Listening to his words, Luo’er didn’t feel afraid but instead let out a cold laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Azita curiously looked at him. The person in front of him was more calm than he had anticipated. Against his outright threat, he seemed to not experience any fear at all.
"I’m just thinking, why would you assume that we came here alone to find you?" Luo’er asked calmly.
Hearing his words, the smile on Azita’s face gradually disappeared. He thought for a moment, then chuckled and placed the handgun on the table, with the muzzle still pointing at them.
"Mr. Azita, business not being done doesn’t mean one must bear a grudge. To eradicate the problem by killing us is a bit unreasonable, don’t you think? What reward can the CIA offer to you by handing our heads to them?" Luo’er asked while looking at him.
"Haha..." Azita laughed twice upon hearing his words, then abruptly stopped. He stared at Luo’er and then shook his head, saying, "You may leave now, and do not come back. Since we can’t come to an agreement, it’s best we don’t contact each other again. If you come again, I can’t guarantee your safety."
"So sir Azita, are you still planning to protect Fu’en?" Luo’er asked.
"Although we are not good people, we are at least trustworthy. Playing both ends against the middle is something we won’t do." Azita once again rejected Luo’er’s proposal.
"Alright then, Mr. Azita, take care of yourself!" Luo’er nodded and greeted respectfully.
"The feeling is mutual, Mr. Luo’er." Azita slightly bowed, his face carrying a thin smile.
The meeting between the two wasn’t as chaotic as imagined. As the leader of the Hound Gang, Azita appeared to be quite courteous, but his demeanor made Luo’er take him seriously.
"Did the negotiation fail?" Walking back, Hu Daoke asked carefully.
"Yes, that guy is unwilling to give up the CIA and cooperate with us. I was already prepared to pay a huge price, and instead he talked to me about integrity." Luo’er spoke, his face involuntarily revealing a mocking smile.
"So that means the Hound Gang, Fu’en, and the CIA are in league?" Hu Daoke asked while frowning.
"They ought to be, or you could say they all are working for the CIA." Luo’er speculated.
"I always thought that the CIA was in a passive position in Otherworld. It turns out their power is quite large." Hu Daoke turned his head and commented.
"Our biggest enemy in Otherworld is the CIA. How could they not be formidable," Luo’er said, sighing softly, "As it appears now, the people of the CIA should have completed their infiltration and support work in Otland. All along, headquarters has focused on the east and neglected the west. However, thinking about it, they are not wrong, as Otland is indeed a tough bone to chew on for headquarters."
"What should we do now?" Hu Daoke asked.
"Go to the rendezvous point with the Church Court and get directly back to school!" Luo’er stated.
"We’re not going to the inn?" Hu Daoke asked.
"No, they’re following us. If we directly go to the inn, it will expose our whereabouts. The Fourth Seal is still there. If we attract the attention of the Hound Gang, it will be troublesome." Luo’er stated.
"Following us?" Hu Daoke instinctively turned his head and that’s when he noticed several tense-faced people following them. They quickly hid as he met their gaze.
"Gosh, will they ambush us halfway?" Hu Daoke turned his head, asking anxiously.
"Don’t worry. As they are watching us, our people are also keeping an eye on them. Hound Gang won’t offend us and the Church Court just for Fu’en. If I were Azita, I would certainly not get involved in the struggle between headquarters and the CIA, only to be reduced to a mere pawn." Luo’er said calmly.
"Boss, you are really calm even with the potential of a catastrophe. Being with you is risky, but it has really expanded my horizons!" Hu Daoke gave a thumbs up, unable to help admiring him.
"Why are you suddenly praising me?" In the face of Hu Daoke’s praise, Luo’er appeared somewhat embarrassed.
"I’m being completely sincere!" Hu Daoke said.
"Thank you!" Luo’er slightly nodded as a gesture of thanks.
"What about the others?" Hu Daoke asked, looking around.
"They can do what they need to do. First, we need to get rid of the gang following us!" said Luo’er calmly.
"Should we signal to them?" Hu Daoke asked.
"No need!" Luo’er replied, pursing his lips.
At the end of the street, two patrol officers appeared, wearing wide-brimmed hats and black cloaks. They held weapons at their waists and blocked the path of the two men. Upon seeing the arrival of the patrol officers, the gang members from the Hound Gang finally stopped their pursuit and stayed where they were, observing them from a distance.
"How did the talks go?" Cheng Ziang asked, patting Luo’er, while Yalunte pretended to inspect the weapons on the two men.
"It fell apart!" Luo’er replied succinctly.
"What’s the plan now?" said Cheng Ziang, seemingly unfazed by Luo’er’s response.
"We return to the institute first. You guys stay on the outside, be careful not to alert the Hound Gang. These guys are all the CIA’s informants." Luo’er spread open his arms for the inspection while replying.
"It seems that the CIA has completed its infiltration in Odelanqi." Cheng Ziang sighed, and squatted down to check Luo’er’s trousers.
"Looks like our plan to have the Hound Gang find Fu’en is scrapped. I’ll head back to the institute and see if we can get help from the Church Court," Luo’er said.
"Alright then, you guys go ahead. We’ll inform Murong and the others." Cheng Ziang stood up, then took out the bag of gold coins from Luo’er’s pocket and unabashedly stuffed it into his own.
"Wow, Old Cheng, you did a good job acting," Hu Daoke said with a smirk.
"Who’s acting with you? Can you take this seriously?" Cheng Ziang kicked Hu Daoke hard in irritation, and he frowned, looking exasperated.
Hu Daoke nearly lost his balance from the kick. Knowing he was in the wrong, he didn’t dare to argue with Cheng Ziang, he whimpered and clutched his sore spot, shutting his mouth.
Seeing their antics, Luo’er merely sighed softly without interference. Cheng Ziang hadn’t done anything wrong, it was Hu Daoke who was acting thoughtlessly, grinning foolishly regardless of the situation.
"Let’s go, we’ll stay guard here!" Cheng Ziang waved Luo’er and Hu Daoke away with an additional kick at the latter.
The two of them stood their ground like iron towers. The hounds tailing Luo’er posed as passing pedestrians, glancing around nervously. They hadn’t heard the conversation and thought Luo’er was being mugged by the patrol officers. Thus, they didn’t dare to follow, for fear of being robbed by these despicable people, just like how they treated Luo’er.
"I got scolded again!" Hu Daoke complained, clutching the kicked spot.
"Well, it’s your own fault for being disrespectful." Luo’er shook his head, said helplessly.
"I just thought his seriousness was interesting, that’s why I wanted to talk to him!" Hu Daoke grumbled, looking wronged.
"Don’t blame him, it’s you who doesn’t know how to behave. Like your just-now foolish grin, what if the Hound Gang saw it? Then they’d target Ziang and the rest too," Luo’er said.
"I didn’t blame him..." Hu Daoke muttered guiltily.
The pair headed straight to the rendezvous point with the Church Court. A horse-drawn carriage always stopped there, used to shuttle people from the east town to the institute. It served as the main form of transportation for the institute, kind of like a school bus.
However, Shariya had already informed the coachman, so as soon as Luo’er and Hu Daoke got on, no matter the situation, the coachman was to take them to the institute immediately. So, when he saw the two of them entering the carriage, he drove the carriage straight into east town, heading for the institute.
"Wouldn’t that girl Truth be anxious if she can’t see us later?" Hu Daoke asked, suddenly remembering something.
"No worries, didn’t we book her a room next door? Plus, Xuzhongqi knows her. Even if she can’t see us, she can wait next door," Luo’er reassured him.
"Wow, seems like you’ve been doing some pretty incredible things," Hu Daoke said with a grin.
"What are you talking about? The headquarters are also short of staff. Once the Mingming Plan completely unfolds, they’ll have to search for children throughout the world. There are still many of these pitiable children in the Otherworld. I suppose the least we could do is save whoever we come across." Luo’er shrugged while he spoke.
