Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 375 - 368: Urban Planning
Chapter 375: Chapter 368: Urban Planning
It’s not that Luo’er looked down on the fighting ability of the girls, but he felt that such a task was certainly much more convenient for them, the burly men, to carry out. After all, there were only three girls in the Advance Team, removing them would not impact the combat power. Along with Yalunte, they had eight people in total to conduct the mission.
Once the arrangements were made, even if Tangmo had objections, he dared not refute them. Although Luo’er appeared weak in daily life, when it came to missions and related plans, his word was law. Almost no one dared to oppose his decisions except for Cheng Ziang.
Even though she knew he was considering her welfare, Tangmo strangely felt upset at the thought of them leaving her out of the mission. Consequently, she retreated to her room in a huff.
Although Baiyue was also upset, she didn’t show it and silently listened to their plan.
"Apart from the soldiers, almost everyone in the city wraps their weapons. So, I thought, won’t it be better if Ziang and Mr. Sword Saint dress up as guards?" Luo’er suggested.
"I am a wanted criminal, will this really be alright?" questioned Yalunte with a laugh, "Don’t forget, I am wanted simultaneously by the Church Court and Otland. If that old geezer Dulens captures me, he will surely tear me apart."
"Then why didn’t Dean Shariya hand you over to the Church Court?" Murong asked from the sidelines.
"Because Shariya is my old friend, that’s it." Yalunte shrugged.
What he didn’t state explicitly was that the reason why the Church Court hadn’t taken action against him, besides his ties with Shariya, was largely due to his affiliation with the headquarters. Arresting him would offend the Headquarters, a loss the Church Court wouldn’t undertake, and so, they largely turned a blind eye towards him.
However, if Yalunte were brazen enough to confront them directly, the Church Court wouldn’t be courteous. In addition to the Church Court, Otland also wanted to capture Yalunte.
His escape with the princess had been a massive loss of face for the Fiorente royal family. Both King Gudelv and the previous king had issued Wanted Orders for him. If he fell into the hands of the king, his fate would be significantly worse than if he were captured by the Church Court.
"In that case, should Mr. Sword Saint sit out of this mission?" Luo’er hesitantly suggested.
"Don’t worry," said Yalunte reassured, waving his hand, "I won’t get caught so easily. And these city guards are just a bunch of stinking prawns. Despite being the city guard of Holy Heart City, they are essentially soft persimmons."
As a former legion commander, Yalunte was still very familiar with the military situation of Otland. For him, the defense of Holy Heart City was a piece of cake. He chose to stay away not because he was afraid of conflicts, but because he just didn’t want to stir up old memories, recalling the incidents with the Princess.
"Let’s stick with this plan then. I will ask Dean Shariya to arrange guard uniforms for you both. Once you put them on, try to avoid any contact with the real guards as much as possible." Luo’er knew Yalunte’s skills, he wouldn’t worry even if he ran into trouble. Adding to that was Shariya’s protection. He only had to reach the academy to be safe and sound.
"That’s some talk. I am a soldier myself!" Yalunte shrugged.
"The rest will be split into two groups," Luo’er continued, hesitating for a moment before adding, "Murong, you, Zhuanzhu and Wu Tairan will be in one group, Xuzhong Qi, join my group."
He actually wanted to pull Murong directly into his group. Without Cheng Ziang, Murong was a decent assistant. Still, keeping in mind Zhuanzhu, he abandoned this thought. It’s better to have Murong keeping them in line, rather than letting them cause a fiasco.
"I see!" Murong nodded, understanding Luo’er’s intentions.
"Tomorrow we will leave the academy for the eastern district, everyone must be careful. It’s a complicated place. Caution is necessary, regardless of what you do. Don’t be impulsive." Luo’er continued to advise.
For this mission, they had switched back to their adventurer outfits, hiding the bulletproof inserts within. During the previous battle, the bulletproof inserts had played a crucial role, almost directly saving the lives of several Advance Team members. Consequently, they had become heavily reliant on these.
Apart from the protective gear, their weapons had also been adjusted. The light machine guns of Hu Daoke and Wu Tairan had been put aside, and in their place, carbine rifles were appointed as primary weapons.
One fun detail about Otherworld was that very few, or almost no one, equipped themselves with submachine guns.
Even on Earth, this weapon was slowly dying out, gradually getting replaced by carbines. However, the reason Otherworld didn’t favor this weapon was its poor penetration power and incredibly wasteful ammunition.
The Earth’s weapon exports to Otherworld were varied, almost covering all the weapons from World War One to the Cold War. They had seen everything from the excessively strong bolt-action rifles, to the water-spurting automatic rifle.
For residence of Otherworld, power was the primary focus, a point universally acknowledged on both Earth and Otherworld. People on Earth found that the full-powered rifle bullets were too powerful and thus developed the intermediate-powered cartridges. But in Otherworld, this concept didn’t exist. Even for bolt-action rifles, there were issues with insufficient power.
What they needed to face was the extremely robust Rune Armor worn by the noble Knights. Even being hit directly by a rifle was hard-pressed to pierce through these armours. Because of this, power had always been an important standard for Otherworld residents to measure the quality of a weapon.
As a representative of firepower and weak penetration, submachine guns were naturally not popular. Compared to unleashing robust firepower, it was better to pierce through Rune Armor with a single shot. If a hundred bullets can’t pierce through it, one bullet wouldn’t make a difference. But if one bullet can, no second shot is needed.
Bearing the symbols of firepower and power, semi-automatic rifles were more popular than fully automatic rifles. The former used full-powered cartridges which could ensure both firepower and power.
Once everything was settled, everyone left to rest. Luo’er had already sent a message to the headquarters informing them of their plan. According to his plan, they would send out news every three days to ensure their safety. If they fail to find Fu’en within the specified time, they would withdraw from the city area and return to the academy for further arrangements.
The most troublesome part of this task was that they had to capture Fu’en alive. Otherwise, Luo’er could have easily thrown a grenade into Fu’en’s car when he opened the door, sending him straight to West Heaven. For the headquarters, Fu’en held more value alive than dead. They need him to pave the way for their upcoming plans.
