Chapter 360: Chapter 353: Feliz’s Plan_1
After bidding farewell to Murong, Luo’er found Wang Xu and briefed him on Tangmo’s condition. However, he only described her illness and didn’t speak about the changes in her behaviour after her personality altered, as the advance team had made sure to have their story straight before returning to Yazhi City.
Hearing Luo’er’s recount, Wang Xu took it seriously and immediately sent the local medical team to check on Tangmo. Due to the location being at the frontline, there was a limit to how many medical personnel could be dispatched, leaving the doctors to perform a range of medical duties.
After the doctors’ diagnosis, they preliminarily concluded that Tangmo had multiple personalities. However, they couldn’t specify how many personalities she had or how to specifically trigger them. For these reasons, it was necessary to bring her back to Earth for a detailed study and treatment.
Nevertheless, the circumstances of the advance team were quite unusual. They were due to embark on their journey soon, so the doctors could only prescribe some psychiatric medications and monitor Tangmo’s condition closely over the next two days to ensure her mental state remained stable.
While checking on Luo’er, the doctor discovered that his condition had worsened rather than improved. Although it was not visible on the surface, his vein damage was now quite serious. He needed to return to Earth for recuperation to prevent Magic Power Erosion.
But it was clearly impossible, as the advance team was currently the headquarters’ only elite squad. It was difficult for the headquarters to deploy an experienced combat team for operations temporarily.
Sometimes, the doctor rued that he was just a doctor and not a higher-up at the headquarters, or else he would have sent the advance team back immediately for recovery. Although they had rest periods between missions, these were essentially temporary measures and did not address the root issues.
Up to now, the Origin Project had encountered problems they had never seen before. They once thought that as hybrids of Earthlings and Otherworlders, the subspecies should perfectly adapt to the environments of both worlds, but the experiences of the advance team had brought them new challenges.
Subspecies were not omnipotent. Even though they carried Otherworlders’ blood, they could suffer from Magic Power Erosion due to bodily injuries. Although Otherworlders could also be affected by Magic Power Erosion due to using magic while injured, given the current situation, the punishment of Magic Power Erosion that the subspecies suffered seemed higher than that of Otherworlders. After all, they were merely subspecies, not purebred Otherworlders, so it was inevitable that they would resist magic powers.
Since the end of the second Otherworld war, for the past thirty years, Earthlings have been studying the peculiar substance magic power relentlessly. Even though they can cultivate subspecies and they can research drugs now that allow Earthlings to stay in Otherworld and Otherworlders to stay on Earth, these have only solved surface issues. What they were truly after was how to make Earthlings adapt to magic power, and how to make Earthlings use magic power.
The air and space mother ship of High-peak people was a gigantic aerial battleship that even Earth’s most powerful navy coveted. Its core secret was its anti-gravity system. If they can decode the anti-gravity system and apply Earth’s technology to reverse-engineer it, then within this century, Earthlings will begin to set off from Earth, establish a space fleet, and conquer the solar system.
At present, Earth still operates through national systems and has not yet established a united government. Hence, the quest for benefits in Otherworld is rather disoriented, without forming a unified interest group.
If a global government is established on Earth in the future, then the developments of both worlds will head in the same direction. On Earth, the global government will rely on Otherworld’s magical technology to leave Earth and establish a space fleet. In Otherworld, the global government will take over all Otherworld countries, integrate their development, and initiate a cosmic plan in Otherworld simultaneously.
In this way, the global government will have the opportunity to explore the universe in both dimensions simultaneously. Coupled with the Otherworld Gate left behind by ancestors, humans can extend their power to the universe across both dimensions within a few hundred years.
However, while dreams are perfect, reality is brutal. To this day, Earth still has not formed a global government, and Otherworld is still in the feudal empire era. The competition among Earthlings in Otherworld far outweighs their cooperation, making it challenging for Earthlings to expand their influence in Otherworld and ultimately integrate Otherworld into the territory of the global government.
Luo’er declined the doctor’s suggestion to return to his country and silently left the room. To him, finding his mother is still his top priority. He can’t return to Earth, and he doesn’t want to either. Because he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to face Luo Qishan’s plea and inevitably would have to stay on Earth.
Ever since leaving Earth, Luo’er could no longer bear any hatred towards Luo Qishan. On the contrary, he felt that Luo Qishan was really pathetic, and hence he began to regret his past actions.
What he hated was Luo Qishan’s neglect towards him, and not involving him in the Origin project. Because he knows his importance as the only native subspecies that managed to survive. His research value far exceeded his freedom. Luo’er felt that Luo Qishan had lived up to his responsibility as a grandfather by keeping him close by for research.
As for the future, Luo’er didn’t give it much thought. Even though he was full of scars, he still didn’t want to give up his dream.
Luo’er’s injuries had reached to the point where he could barely use the most basic magic. The damaged veins inside his body wouldn’t affect his daily life, but would affect the speed of magic power flowing inside his body. As long as he stayed in Otherworld, his body’s condition wouldn’t improve at all.
Because of this, the doctor was so eager to have him return to Earth for recuperation. Because only Earth’s magic power-less environment can allow the veins in his body to recover.
"This disturbing magic power... " Luo’er waved his hand gently in front of him and muttered to himself.
He turned the corner and saw Feliz leaning against the corridor wall, lost in her thoughts. Seeing Luo’er, she seemed quite pleased.
"Luo’er!" Feliz looked at him with a sweet smile on her face. Luo’er vaguely remembered she was once a willful young lady.
"What are you doing here?" Luo’er asked.
"Well, Mrs. Shariya is teaching the girl named Baiyue how to use magic and didn’t let me in," Feliz glanced at the door, then said somewhat despondently, "She said I am not qualitied enough, in case I learned it and misused it carelessly, it could be dangerous, causing serious damage to the veins."
"Your teacher is right, these things... should indeed be taken step by step." Luo’er said, not being able to help but cough a few times. When he heard the words "damaged veins", his body instinctively reacted.
"I knew it, I’m not a genius!" Feliz lowered her head and chuckled bitterly.
"You..." Luo’er began, then stopped.
"You don’t need to comfort me, I’ve already accepted it," Feliz said, her eyes downcast in self-deprecation. "I should’ve realized my potential. But I stubbornly believed that I just had untapped potential."
She suddenly raised her head to look at Luo’er, speaking somewhat resentfully, "Why aren’t you comforting me?"
"Ah," Luo’er was taken aback before, answering truthfully, "I simply thought, realizing your own abilities means you’ve grown, which is something to be happy about."
"I’m a girl, I just need you to comfort me!" Feliz retorted, furrowing her brows.
"Alright, you’re excellent, you just haven’t found your direction yet," Luo’er responded, scratching his head.
Feliz looked at him, then burst into laughter. "Why do you always listen to me?" she asked, smiling.
With that, she let out a deep sigh, and her smile faded. "To be honest, I’m starting to not want to attend Magic Academy."
"So what do you want to do?" Luo’er asked.
"Just like you guys, traveling around, gaining knowledge," Feliz replied.
Luo’er paused before advising, "Our country has an ancient saying: ’unity of knowledge and action.’ This means that book knowledge needs to be combined with practical experience before there can be any gain. A wanderer can go from the southern end of the continent to the northern end, but he is still just a wanderer, while a bard can write moving epics."
"I was just venting. Why do you always try to reason with me?" Feliz responded, dissatisfied.
"I’m afraid you’ll make a mistake," Luo’er answered truthfully.
"Really," Feliz responded, smiling again. She lifted her head to look at Luo’er earnestly. "So, if I were to tell you what I want to do, would you be willing to listen?"
"Go ahead, I’m all ears," Luo’er reassured her.
"Well," Feliz started, looking up at the ceiling. After a quiet moment, she told him, "I want to learn the magic of Earth. The kind of magic that I’ve never seen before!"
"That’s called technology!" Luo’er corrected her.
"Te...Technology?" Feliz stuttered, unfamiliar with the term.
"So, you..." Luo’er started, looking at her questioningly.
"That’s right, once I return to Holy Heart City, I might drop out and then," she paused, looking at Luo’er before playfully continuing, "I’ll come study with you guys, is that okay?"
"We...wait, are you sure?" Luo’er started to object, but then he recalled Yaning and Kali. Apparently, headquarters was initiating a program to train people from Otherworld—it might be an opportunity after all.
"Of course, I’m serious!" Feliz assured him.
"Alright then, I’ll ask for you," Luo’er responded, nodding.
"Thanks, as expected, talking to you is helpful," Feliz cheerfully replied.
"But right now, you need to start learning our language," Luo’er added, looking at Feliz.
In the belief system of the Chinese civilization, language and script have always been the most fundamental. Those who don’t know Chinese and its characters, can never truly understand its
