Chapter 325: Chapter 318: The Surprises That Follow One After Another
Shariya clutched his arm, appearing very ragged. Although his wound didn’t seriously worsen due to the casting of high level magic, he was still much worse off from a continuous stream of low-grade magic. Upon seeing Yalunte’s arrival, a modicum of joy emerged on his pale face.
"Yalunte, why are you here?" Shariya struggled to rise from the ground and asked questioningly, still clutching his wounded arm.
"I heard my old friend was in trouble, so I came to check on you." Yalunte said with a mirthful smile.
"Are you still working for the people of Otherworld?" Shariya asked, fixing him a gaze.
"Since you already know, why bother asking," Yalunte shrugged non-committally.
"Dean Shariya!"
Suddenly, Shariya heard a surprised shout, and a well-dressed figure ran towards him. Upon looking carefully, he couldn’t help but exclaim out loud: "Feliz! Where’ve you been hiding?"
"Dean Shariya!" Feliz ran to him. Seeing the wound on his arm, she almost burst into tears.
Shariya usually treats his students very kindly, so many of them fondly refer to him as the bearded Dean.
"Feliz, where did you go? They said you guys sneaked out, what happened? Where’s Xuela? And Harris?" Despite his wound, Shariya anxiously grabbed her arm and asked.
"Dean," As soon as she heard this, Feliz immediately began to cry, "They...they are all dead..."
"Dead? What happened?" Shariya was heartbroken. Ignoring his need to console Feliz, he continued to probe anxiously.
"Dean, it was Master Odalas, Master Odalas was the one who killed them!" Feliz cried out accusingly.
"Odalas, how is it possible?" Shariya stood in a daze, baffled, for what seemed like a long time before finally asking in concern, "How did you- How did you manage to escape?"
"It was- it was," Feliz dabbed her nose while sobbing and pointed at Yalunte, "It was this Uncle who saved me!"
"We’re even now, Shariya!" Yalunte waved his hand and said to him.
"Did you kill Odalas?" Shariya looked at him and asked.
"Oh yeah, along with a few of his buddies!" Yalunte spread his hands, innocently saying.
"What on earth is going on?" Shariya looked at Yalunte and then at the crying Feliz in his arms, asking in confusion.
"By the way, Shariya, what are you doing in Lipei?" Yalunte looked at him, and then at the bodies on the ground, before asking,"You even got run into these guys?"
"This is a task given to me by the Church Court..." Shariya answered briefly. Although he and Yalunte were old acquaintances, their relationship was not yet at the point where they could openly discuss everything.
He gently pushed Feliz away, then carefully wiped away the tears on her face. With a puzzled look, he asked, "Feliz, why would Odalas want to kill you?"
"Because, because," Feliz sniffled and then raised her head to look at him and replied, "We overheard their plan, so they wanted to kill us."
"Plan? What kind of plan does Odalas have?" Shariya questioned.
"Dean," Feliz said through her tears, "They planned to ambush the Otherworld army at the First Line Gorge and exterminate them all with the Forbidden Curse magic."
"What did you say, the Forbidden Curse!" Hearing that word, Shariya’s eyes widened and he was utterly shocked.
"Dean," Feliz ignored his shocked expression, continued crying and spoke up louder, "They succeeded. More than a hundred thousand people from Otherworld died from the Forbidden Curse. Now, the entire Otherworld has become an enemy of the Church Court!"
"What did you just say!" It felt as though Shariya’s head was about to explode from all the shocking news Feliz relayed. Her tidbits of news were even more shocking than the last, making his mind a little fuzzy.
"The girl isn’t lying," seeing Shariya’s surprised gaze, Yalunte said coolly, "It’s true that about a hundred thousand people died on Earth. Now, the whole Earth is clamouring for war with the Church Court."
"The Forbidden...Curse..." Shariya’s dazed mind finally managed to grasp some clues, and immediately zoned in on one person, "Yes, that’s right, it was him! The Archmage Falok, it must be him!"
"What the hell is going on? Trying to kill students, using the Forbidden Curse- What is the Church Court up to?" Yalunte looked at him and asked.
"Someone is framing the Church Court!" After contemplating for a while, Shariya couldn’t help but blurt out in frustration.
"What did you say?" Yalunte looked at him and asked.
"His Holiness the Pope never intended to kill so many people from Otherworld. He wanted to send the Otherworlders away peacefully. However, Falok went ahead and killed so many people from Otherworld on his own, causing the whole Otherworld to point their spears at the Church Court!" Shariya exclaimed his deductions excitedly.
"So you mean, the killing of so many Earthlings was not the Church Court’s intention?" Shariya’s deductions even made Yalunte taken aback.
"Correct, correct, I wondered why Lord Falok joined the practice, then disappeared halfway through. So that’s it, that’s it!" Shariya widened her eyes, panting, seeming like she finally realized something.
"Then why did you come to Lipei?" Yalunte couldn’t help asking again.
Shariya glanced at him, then with a deep sigh, responded, "The Pope heard that the armies from Odelanqi, Masya, and Oudallo were gathering in Lipei, suspecting ill intentions. He ordered me to end my practice and investigate alone. It indeed turned out to be true."
As she spoke, she frowned, looked at the dead bodies of several mages on the ground, and couldn’t help shaking her head. "These people violated the Church Court regulations by privately hiring these local mages. I wonder what they are up to."
"So you also came for Lipei." Upon hearing her words, Yalunte couldn’t help laughing.
"Also? What do you mean?" Shariya frowned and asked him.
"Dean... "." Suddenly, a strange voice came from behind Shariya. She turned her head, her pupils shrinking.
"Au...Audrey, where had you been? Why did you disappear for over a year?" Shariya exclaimed, a shocked look crossed her face.
"I..." Facing Shariya, Tangmo didn’t know what to say and hence shut his mouth.
"Do you know that I’ve been looking for you for over a year?" Shariya dropped Feliz and excitedly walked toward Tangmo.
At that moment, a stranger blocked Tangmo’s way. He glared coldly at Shariya. Shariya took a good look and saw that it was a twenty-something-year-old lad, his features somewhat resembled Yalunte but his gaze was more familiar.
"Princess!" Shariya blurted out. That gaze, definitely, it belonged to Princess Lin.
Hearing his words, Yalunte’s heart skipped a beat. He almost forgot that Shariya was known for her close relationship with both him and Princess Lin. Therefore, she was highly familiar with the Princess.
He couldn’t let Cheng Ziang guess his identity!
Thinking about it, Yalunte coughed, then walked straight between Shariya and Cheng Ziang, blocking Shariya’s path.
"Do you know them?" Shariya asked Yalunte.
Yalunte turned to Cheng Ziang, who was silent for a moment, then nodded at him. Having received approval from Cheng Ziang, Yalunte turned back to Shariya and said, "You should know that I am working for the Otherworld people."
"So what?" Shariya was confused by his statement.
"So their identities shouldn’t need too much of my introduction," Yalunte said, glancing at the two.
"You mean," Shariya hesitated, then realized. Pointing at Cheng Ziang and Tangmo, she asked in surprise, "You’re saying they are from the Otherworld?"
Yalunte didn’t respond to Shariya’s question. He looked plausibly indifferent, but his attitude clarified many doubts.
"In other words, Audrey is an Otherworlder!" Shariya was shocked again.
"Dean Shariya, let’s work together!" Without waiting for Yalunte to speak, Cheng Ziang was the first to suggest.
His approach was quite indiscreet, disclosing their identities to Shariya without Luo’er’s agreement. However, to him, Shariya was an impressive force. She should just be a Forbidden Curse away from becoming an Archmage. If they could get her help, they could surely complete the task with ease.
"Cooperate, what do you want to do?" Shariya frowned and asked Cheng Ziang.
"We also want to know what these people are playing at by gathering in Lipei." Cheng Ziang honestly replied.
"If I remember correctly, didn’t the Church just murder over a hundred thousand Otherworld people? Are you sure you want to work with me, a religious believer?" Shariya frowned and asked.
"Dean," Feliz pulled at his arm, then said, "They are Shani people. The Shani people had no casualties in this conflict, so they are not our enemies."
"Shani people..." Shariya fell into deep thought. If she remembered correctly, the Shani people were one of the five major powers of the Otherworld.
"Feliz, how did you know them?" Shariya turned her head and glared at Feliz.
Feliz froze under his stare. She lowered her head and muttered in a feeble voice, "When the academy was taken over, it was them who destroyed the magic suppression device, freeing the Magic Academy."
"It was them!" Shariya once again looked at Cheng Ziang and Tangmo in shock.
She had always wondered who that would be destructive enough to destroy the magic suppression device, allowing the Magic Academy to start a full counterattack. However, she never imagined in her wildest dreams that it was these Otherworld people who infiltrated the school and helped it overcome the crisis.
"Knowing their identities, why didn’t you tell me at that time?" Shariya glared at Feliz and asked seriously.
"Lo...Luo’er didn’t allow..." Feliz murmured, feeling wronged.
