Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 280 - 273: End of Vacation
Chapter 280: Chapter 273: End of Vacation
Time flies, and it’s been a month since Luo’er’s surgery. Over this month, Luo’er’s wounds, under the aid of light Resurrection Magic, healed rapidly. Meanwhile, combined with the inhibitors brought from the Headquarters, Luo’er’s magical corrosion finally started to alleviate, even to the point where he could start casting magic below Level 1. This was indeed good news for the members of the team.
As for Yazhi City, since the departure of the Judgement Legion, it had returned to its regular peace, with no more attacks taking place. The Church Court’s army, which had originally planned to assemble at Yazhi City, only managed to gather less than a third of its forces. The rest of the troops turned back halfway and returned to their respective parishes.
However, what was concerning was that the unidentified attackers seemed to have targeted the Judgement Legion. Whenever they were, attacks would occur. Faced with these attacks, the Judgement Legion was helpless, their only option was to abandon their mission of finding Arya’s Blade and return to the Holy City.
Speaking of Arya’s Blade, since this artifact was brought to Headquarters, they tried every possible means to send Arya’s Blade to Earth.
Eventually, after their tireless efforts, they managed to deceive the FBI agents who were attempting to block them and successfully sent Arya’s Blade back to the Otherworld Research Center at Haiya Academy. Once it landed there, no matter how good the FBI agents were, they had to give up.
The uproar in Yazhi City caused changes in the United Nations’ plans for stationing troops. Some nations previously believed that deploying Earth’s troops to the Otherworld meant an unjustified invasion. But the chaos in Yazhi City raised doubts about the Otherworld army’s ability to maintain peace. They now leaned more towards having Earth’s troops stationed in Yazhi City to maintain regional peace and stability.
Under the influence of this event, the Command Department’s plan for stationing quickly got passed. If nothing unexpected occurs, the Command Department will dispatch armies to Yazhi City by the end of this year.
According to the stationing plan’s requirements, they only need the approval of the secular authorities. Of course, facing the Church Court’s warnings, they are prepared for the worst. As long as they can hold and defeat the Church Court’s army, forcing them to acknowledge the legality of Yazhi City’s Earth troops, the third Otherworld War can end perfectly.
As peace and stability gradually returned to Yazhi City, a month and a half after the outbreak of the crisis, the Advance Team finally received orders to return to the Headquarters. This also meant that their month-long vacation had come to an end.
Over the month, Tangmo’s feelings for Luo’er had become crazier, nearly pathological. Of her twenty-four hours, she spent twenty glued with him, even sharing a bed with him. If not for Luo’er being somewhat conservative, perhaps they would only be missing their marriage certificate by now.
Baiyue no longer placed her hope on Tangmo making any kind of concession. As she saw it, ever since Tangmo’s personality drastically changed, she had lost her advantage. Although Luo’er was also troubled by Tangmo’s clinging, Baiyue knew that if she didn’t make a move, Luo’er was bound to yield eventually.
On the day of departure, everyone packed their belongings. The crisis in Yazhi City had unexpectedly allowed the Advance Team a chance for a vacation. Now, they had to return to their station and undertake tasks, leading Hu Daoke to start mumbling to himself non-stop.
"Luo’er, Luo’er, I’ve packed my luggage, let me help you!" Tangmo ran over energetically, coquettishly offering to help him.
"Thank you, but I can do it myself." Luo’er smiled and politely declined her offer.
Tangmo had indeed changed. In Luo’er’s memories, under circumstances like these, Tangmo would undoubtedly leave the packing to him or Hu Daoke, choosing to slack off herself. Now, she actively completed her tasks and even came over to help him. Although it saved him some trouble, it also felt strangely unfamiliar to him.
"I want to help you!" Defying his refusal, Tangmo reached out and grabbed his clothes.
She suddenly ended up with Luo’er’s boxers in her hands, leaving Luo’er’s face flushed as he tried to snatch them back.
"I... I can pack them myself!" Luo’er said with a red face.
"Don’t be so shy, it’s not like I haven’t seen them before!" Tangmo hid the boxers behind her back, revealing a smitten smile.
"Stop kidding, people are watching!" Luo’er looked around and spoke in a lowered voice.
Just as Luo’er wanted to continue the struggle for his boxers, he felt movement on his other side. He turned his head to find Baiyue, who seemed to have magically appeared next to him, quietly tidying up his clothes without a word.
Both of you..." Struggling between both sides, Luo’er helplessly shook his head.
"True envy, man. Why are we stuck playing the singles game?" Hu Daoke looked at the three individuals not too far from them, shook his head, and remarked sincerely.
"Because we’re ugly, duh. Is that even a question?" Cheng Ziang tidied up his belongings and said without altering his poker face.
"Shut up. If you’re so handsome, why don’t you have a partner?" Hu Daoke glanced at him disdainfully and contested.
"I haven’t bothered looking. You haven’t found anyone!" Cheng Ziang glanced up at him, then replied, grinning mischievously.
Whenever the two of them were together, they relished in freely belittling each other, which in a way, symbolized their friendship.
"Recall after just half a month, that’s unpleasant indeed. Why do we have to toil so much?" Thinking about needing to report back to Headquarters and then carry out a mission, Hu Daoke couldn’t help but sigh to the sky.
"Brother, we’ve already had a month and a half of vacation. If you want a longer break, isn’t it straightforward? Just find a knife and chop off your leg. The headquarters will immediately send you back to Earth!" Cheng Ziang continued packing his luggage, speaking without raising his head.
Hearing his words, Hu Daoke didn’t get angry. He lowered his head to think for a moment, then opened his mouth and said, "Speaking of knives, you must not have seen your master for a while. I wonder how he’s been doing, probably doesn’t want you anymore, right?"
Mentioning Yalunte, Cheng Ziang’s movement immediately stopped. He lowered his head and pondered for a moment, then gently sighed, then said, "The monk can run, but the temple cannot. Anyhow, he’s tied to the Command Department; even if he runs to the ends of the Earth, he’ll still have to obediently come back."
"It’s strange, Yalunte is, after all, the number one swordsman on the continent. How could he be so willing to serve under the Command Department?" Hu Daoke scratched his head, expressing his confusion.
Hearing this question, Cheng Ziang also fell into thought. Luo’er had once told him that Yalunte was controlled by the Command Department because his child was in their hands, and that person might very well be himself.
However, Cheng Ziang’s appearance completely inherited the traits of the Aud people, so he couldn’t possibly be the mixed blood of Yalunte and someone from Earth since matriarchal genetics would’ve made him look more like the Yellow Race rather than an Aud.
Cheng Ziang’s appearance indicated that his Aud lineage most likely comes from his mother’s side, meaning that his mother might be an Aud, and his father an Earthling. Following this logical inference, he couldn’t possibly be Yalunte’s son unless that guy had undergone a sex change surgery.
To be honest, deep down Cheng Ziang was still willing for Yalunte to be his father, so that he could learn all of his swordsmanship, and he also quite admired him.
No matter what, Cheng Ziang was still determined to later communicate a bit with Luo’er, letting him inquire about it to Wang Xu, to see whether the headquarters might be mistaken or not.
Having packed up their luggage, they began a two-day journey. The Command Department had arranged a horse-drawn carriage for them. Even though it was comfortable enough, they still felt like riding horses would be faster.
In the carriage, Tangmo was clinging onto Luo’er again, not hiding her feelings at all. Baiyue was also not to be outdone, openly competing with her. It had long gone beyond being as passive as before.
As the person involved, Luo’er was very troubled, but could do nothing about it. Besides him, the remaining two men were third-wheeling and also quite dissatisfied with the situation.
At the time of setting up the evening camp, Cheng Ziang finally managed to get Hu Daoke to distract the two girls, so he got a chance to express his doubts to Luo’er.
"You’re really a busy man, I even need to schedule an appointment to see you." Cheng Ziang sighed and joked.
"Don’t tease me. I’m also quite troubled." Luo’er shook his head and said with a bitter smile.
"Enough talk, I need a favor." Cheng Ziang went straight to the point.
"What is it?" Luo’er asked.
Cheng Ziang looked around, then lowered his voice and said, "When you reach the Command Department ask Instructor Wang. I want to know if I’m related to Yalunte at all."
Luo’er was taken aback, then he remembered what he and Cheng Ziang had said before, so he nodded and said, "I understand, I will find out for you."
"Thanks!" Cheng Ziang patted his shoulder, knowing he could always trust Luo’er.
"Why the sudden interest in this issue?" Luo’er scratched his head and asked.
Cheng Ziang sighed and faced Luo’er; he dropped his guard, saying, "I always get along with Yalunte. I just want to know if I’m in any way related to him. If not, I’m thinking about recognizing him as my adopted father."
"You’re... you’re willing to go to such a length..." Staring at Cheng Ziang, Luo’er was amazed. In his impression, Cheng Ziang was always a very reserved person. He was going to take the initiative to recognize Yalunte as his adopted father, which was quite shocking for him.
"Don’t you dare make fun of me!" Cheng Ziang glared at him in warning.
Luo’er waved his hand signaling that he wouldn’t say a word, then asked, "Just because he’s a sword saint?"
"Not really. I just feel that this guy..." Cheng Ziang contemplated for a moment and then said, "He gives off a relative’s vibe."
"Don’t worry. I’ll help you sort this out!" Luo’er patted his shoulder and assured.
Cheng Ziang smiled, then looked at him, bringing up another topic with a smirk, "Speaking of which, you’ve been quite a ladies’ man recently!"
"Don’t tease me. I’m on the verge of collapsing!" As soon as Tangmo was mentioned, Luo’er was full of complaints.
