Chapter 172 - 168: Seizing the Airboat

Chapter 172: Chapter 168: Seizing the Airboat

"This is what I’m thinking," Luo’er pondered for a long time before expressing his thoughts, "Either, we seize control of the airboat now, and navigate it towards Helros. Or we find a way to sneak onto the deck now, and then parachute towards Helros via land."

As they were traveling to Helros by airboat, Headquarters issued them parachutes before departure. These parachutes, made of the latest materials, were only the size of a small backpack when compressed.

If it were up to Luo’er to choose, he would choose the second option without hesitation, to parachute to avoid harm. After all, they were up against more than twenty fully armed gangsters. For him, the safety of his team members is paramount.

But now, he has to consult Tangmo for his opinion, as in his eyes, Tangmo is the real captain.

As the captain, Tangmo’s thoughts naturally aligned with Luo’er’s. After all, confronting more than twenty fully armed robbers, no matter how powerful they were, they couldn’t possibly come out unscathed. But just as he was about to agree to the second plan, the images of Yila and her daughter mysteriously sprung into his mind.

If the airboat was driven to Baales, the plight of Yila and her daughter must be quite miserable. After all, little Sara is a mixed-race of the High-peak people and the Zhuyan people are the mortal enemies of the High-peak people.

The thought of them made Tangmo feel a pang of pain in his heart. After all, she and little Sara share the same identity, which made her involuntarily consider their situation.

"I believe we should seize control of this ship!" After hesitating for a long time, Tangmo finally spoke slowly. Her words stunned everyone.

Luo’er originally thought Tangmo would choose the second plan, but he didn’t expect her to choose the first one so daringly. If they were to launch an attack on the more than twenty gangsters on the airboat, they couldn’t guarantee that there wouldn’t be any accidents.

Surprised, Cheng Ziang stared at Tangmo, then turned his head to glare fiercely at Luo’er, suggesting him to exercise direct command. Are you kidding, for just the five of them to confront more than twenty gun-toting gangsters, isn’t that suicide?

"Do you really want to seize it?" Luo’er asked weakly.

"Can’t I?" Exercising her captain duties for the first time, Tangmo seemed quite unsure.

"If you really want to do it, then plan it out!" Luo’er sighed, but did not oppose her plan.

"Luo’er, have you gone mad along with her?" Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but ask loudly.

"Stop babbling, come and plan quickly." Luo’er didn’t respond directly to his question, but picked out some charcoal that had fallen out of some bags, and sketched the rough layout of the airboat on the floor.

"If we want to seize control of this airboat, we must simultaneously seize the cockpit and the anti-gravity engine room. My arrangement is, Moumou and I will seize the engine room, you three seize the cockpit. After completion, we navigate the airboat through the Lining River canyon, and then parachute and walk to Helros."

After hearing his arrangement, Cheng Ziang didn’t say anything, but turned his face away in resentment, ignoring him.

"If no one objects, then let’s prepare for action!" Seeing that no one was speaking, Luo’er continued.

"Are you really planning to do this?" As Luo’er passed by him, Cheng Ziang stopped him and asked.

"Crossing the Lining River canyon, we will be close to Helros, completing the mission as soon as possible is the priority." Luo’er responded.

"Fine, let’s follow your plan." Cheng Ziang didn’t oppose any longer, he sighed deeply, choosing to compromise.

"Take care of them!" Before leaving, Luo’er grasped Cheng Ziang and said.

Cheng Ziang looked at him without saying a word, and then went back to his box to get his equipment. After preparing, everyone put on their gear. Their backpacks were modular, with the top module being the parachute module. A gentle pull would launch the parachute, capable of safely landing something as heavy as a cow.

"You three take control of the cockpit, we two take control of the engine room, everyone be careful, don’t confront them directly!" Arriving at the cargo hold door, Luo’er reminded once more.

"Understood!" The three nodded their heads, then cooperatively advanced. The other two also turned around and slowly moved toward the engine room of the airboat.

Although this airboat was only a means of transportation for them, Wang Xu still took the time to introduce them to the general layout of the airboat, not expecting it to be used this time.

Even though this commercial airboat was not that large, the mere twenty-odd dwarven raiders attempting to gain complete control was impossible. According to Luo’er’s calculations, their main forces should be deployed in the engine room and the cockpit. As long as they could gain control of these two locations, the lot of them would be nothing to fear.

Despite having such plans, Luo’er was somewhat uneasy. Those attackers had genuine automatic rifles, after all. It was remarkable considering that, once Earth entered the firearm era, there would hardly be an instance where one could face a hundred enemies. The evolution of weaponry leveled the playing field for everyone, changing battles from being aristocratic fights to involving the general populace.

Fortunately, in the Otherworld, there existed the game-changing power of magic. Having the great mage Tangmo with him was what made Luo’er dare to attempt such a risky plan.

Luo’er shouldered his rifle while holding a silenced pistol in one hand. His other hand rested on Tangmo’s shoulder. As a mage, Tangmo led the way with her magic wand, providing Luo’er with various forms of magical support based on different circumstances.

By the time they reached the deck, the fighting had essentially ceased. The entire top level of the airboat was devoid of people, probably because the raiders had herded everyone together for easier control. Quietly and cautiously, the pair followed the map embedded in their minds towards the engine room.

As they walked down a corridor, they met two dwarfs toting guns at a corner. They were dragging along a dwarf corpse towards the side of the airboat and proceeded to throw the body overboard.

"Moumou!" Luo’er lightly tapped her shoulder to get her attention. Tangmo nodded in understanding, quietly chanting a spell. An invisible Silent Space instantly enveloped the two of them.

Without hesitating at all, Luo’er pulled his trigger. He didn’t hear the low hum of his pistol due to the Silent Space, he only felt a slight recoil. The bullet casing flew out from the pistol. As the bullets hit the two dwarfs, they crumbled to the ground in convulsions.

The Silent Space merely shrouded both of them, preventing the sound of gunfire from escaping. However, others could still hear the clatter of bullets hitting the metal structures.

The Silent Space dispelled after a few seconds. Slowly, they approached the two convulsing corpses. Luo’er turned off the safety of their rifles and removed the magazines, leaving them to bleed out slowly.

After eliminating these two Zhuyan People, the pair continued towards the engine room. They encountered no further Zhuyan raiders along the way and safely reached the vicinity of the engine room.

The engine room was guarded by a solid metal hatch that was tightly closed. They estimated that the Zhuyan people were inside. The pair exchanged nods, following which Tangmo took out an explosive rune sticker from his pocket and attached it to the hatch. Considering the thickness of the hatch, she also placed a small output magic crystal on the guide source, aiming to enhance its power.

"Get ready!" Having completed these tasks, Tangmo turned to Luo’er and uttered.

"Okay!" Luo’er nodded, taking cover around the corner of the hatch. This explosion was not a controlled one, and with the magic crystal enhancing its damage, it was bound to cause some self-injury.

Tangmo also found cover at another corner and started to engage the next step based on their training.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

Just as the last syllable left her mouth, everything fell silent to Luo’er. He peeked out and gestured to Tangmo, followed by a massive tremor. The strong blast had crushed the solid hatch, flinging it into the room.

Capitalizing on the brief moment before the Silent Magic wore off, Luo’er, despite feeling dizzy, raised his prepared AK rifle and charged in. He immediately gunned down two helpless, gun-holding dwarves.

Soon after, he noticed an odd-looking dwarf. He wasn’t wearing tactical vests but instead a strange long robe. He seemed unfazed by Luo’er’s intrusion and forcefully tossed a peculiar red stone at him.

The stone hit Luo’er’s forehead unexpectedly, causing him to stagger and fall outside the door. Upon examining the stone, he realized it was a glowing magic crystal, roughly the size of an egg. Carved with runes emitting a strange light, it caused Luo’er’s scalp to tingle. He instinctively sprang up from the ground and lunged at Tangmo, who was chanting a spell. They both rolled into the corner where Tangmo had taken cover.

"Bang!" Just as they fell to the ground, an explosion, even more powerful than before, happened at the entrance, sending chills down their spines. During the explosion, Tangmo could feel a strong rush of magic power swiftly swept across her body.

Without the protection of the Silent Magic, the severe explosion left both of them temporarily deaf. However, Luo’er’s quick thinking set him apart from Tangmo. To prevent that dwarf from tossing another explosive magic crystal, Luo’er quickly got up and drew a Shock Bomb from his waist. After pulling the pin, he threw it into the room.

Another loud sound echoed. The shock bomb’s explosion was greater than the preceding one, and it also emitted dazzling light. Disregarding the discomfort in his body, Luo’er drew his pistol and charged into the engine room once again.
