Chapter 1631: Chapter 1624: Trouble Comes Knocking

Under Huayu Ting’s guidance, Feng’s progress could only be described as miraculous. She seemed to learn new techniques every single day.

Huayu Ting spared no effort in her teaching, imparting almost all her accumulated experiences and lessons to Feng.

At this point, Feng had essentially mastered the cultivation methods of the Ba Path school. All that remained was for her to continuously refine and fully integrate the techniques.

A week passed by in such fashion. During this time, the Advance Team stayed at Bicheng Mansion, far from external conflicts and worries, preparing for their next journey northward.

However, good times cannot last forever, and trouble soon came knocking at the door.

One day, while Huayu Ting was inspecting Feng’s mastery of the Ba Path techniques, a manor guard walked into the training field with a tense expression. The moment he saw Huayu Ting, he cupped his fists and knelt down.

"Speak!" Huayu Ting said without turning her head.

"My lord, the Wuting Clan has come to visit. They’re now waiting at the manor gates," the guard said nervously, swallowing hard.

"How many of them?" Huayu Ting asked leisurely.

"Over three hundred," replied the guard.

"Heh," Huayu Ting smirked disdainfully upon hearing this, then asked, "What is their purpose?"

"They..." The guard hesitated, glancing at Feng and the nearby Hu Daoke as if too afraid to convey the message.

"Speak!" Huayu Ting frowned lightly.

"They’re here for the Saints. They demand that we hand over the Saints," the guard replied loudly.

"Ridiculous! The Saints are guests at Bicheng Mansion. How have they twisted it into Huayu’s clan abducting the Saints?" Huayu Ting said coldly.

"Indeed! What nonsense!" Hu Daoke, arms crossed, chimed in nearby.

Huayu Ting shot him a glance, then seemed to think of something. Turning to Feng, she said, "Perfect timing! You’ve been completely absorbed in your cultivation lately. It’s time you saw how battles in Kyushu unfold. Come with me."

"Master, are we going to fight?" Feng’s eyes lit up as she asked.

"When Nobility knocks at your door, a fight is inevitable. It’s tradition," Huayu Ting shrugged and said indifferently.

"Ah! A fight? Can I go watch?" Hu Daoke exclaimed, now visibly excited.

"Manor Lord, if you don’t mind, you’re welcome to observe," Huayu Ting shot him a glance and sighed helplessly.

"Can we get involved?" Hu Daoke asked eagerly, rubbing his hands together.

"Manor Lord is a guest. Such matters don’t require your intervention, nor would Huayu’s clan allow its guests to be bullied by outsiders," Huayu Ting politely declined.

The Wuting Clan’s visit was no trivial matter. Bicheng Mansion quickly buzzed with activity, and Huayu’s clan soldiers began preparing for confrontation.

Equipped with ranged weapons, they ascended the city walls and watchtowers, facing the dense crowd gathered on the open ground outside the gates. The atmosphere rivaled that of a full-fledged war.

While the Wuting Clan only brought around three hundred people, many among them were cultivators, making their collective strength far greater than that of three hundred ordinary individuals. It was clear they were here to demand accountability.

In response to the Wuting Clan’s formation, Huayu’s clan displayed equal readiness. The gates of Bicheng Mansion swung open as squads of elite guards marched out to line up in formation beneath the city walls.

Their weapons were uniformly crafted, and their armor was consistent in design. They looked less like manor guards and more like the regular army of the Dongsheng Empire.

However, Dongsheng Empire’s standard uniforms did not match those of Huayu’s guards. The empire’s military attire emphasized navy blue, complemented by deep red accents. By contrast, Huayu’s guards wore white robes paired with black armor, creating a striking visual impact.

According to East Continent’s Kyushu combat doctrine, a high-level cultivator could rival an army of a thousand. With this in mind, unless the three hundred Wuting Clan members included several cultivators in the late Jiedan Realm like Huayu Ting, they likely wouldn’t stand a chance against him.

Thus, despite the circumstances, Huayu Ting appeared utterly composed. He donned intricate ceremonial robes meant for receiving guests and strolled leisurely to the main gates, descending the stairs at a deliberate pace.

Apart from Tangmo, who was still teaching, the rest of the Advance Team ran to the city walls to spectate the conflict that involved them.

Huayu Ting walked to the center of the open ground, his expression calm as he faced the dense crowd opposite him. In an unhurried tone, he called out, "Who comes before me? State your name."

"I am Wuting Li. Greetings to Huayu’s Young Lord," replied a broad-shouldered, nine-foot-tall man who stepped forward from the crowd and bowed respectfully.

"Ah, Wuting Clan. Your grand display—what is your business here?" Huayu Ting asked matter-of-factly.

"Does the Young Lord know of the Saints here from the Western Continent?" Wuting Li asked cautiously.

"I do. They are guests at the manor," Huayu Ting replied with a nod.

"They are guests of the Wuting Clan. We kindly request the Young Lord to return them to us," said Wuting Li.

"What an absurdity! The Saints are staying as guests in Huayu’s manor. Yet in your mouth, it becomes Huayu abducting them. They are people, not objects. If they wish to leave, could I stop them? If they wish to stay, could I possibly force them out?"

Huayu Ting sneered, mockery evident in his tone as he eyed Wuting Li.

"It was us, Wuting, who hosted them first!" Wuting Li’s composure cracked, and he lashed out angrily.

"What does hosting first or last matter? If the Saints find Wuting Clan more hospitable, they wouldn’t want to remain at Bicheng Mansion. Conversely, if they prefer staying here, how can I hand them off to you?"

Huayu Ting’s sarcasm was relentless.

"Huayu Ting, are you determined to hold the Saints hostage and make enemies of the Wu Family?" Wuting Li snarled, revealing his hostility.

"I don’t care whether you’re from the Wen Family or Wu Family. While the Saints are guests in Bicheng Mansion, they are under my protection. Anyone who offends my guests is an enemy of mine!"

Huayu Ting’s expression hardened, his tone colder as he stared down Wuting Li.

His demeanor carried an inherent aura of intimidation. When he issued threats with his icy voice, everyone could feel a chilling, oppressive force emanating from him.

"Huayu Ting! Don’t think you can act with impunity just because you’re the Patriarch of Huayu’s clan. I know the underhanded means you used to rise to power—" Wuting Li’s sentence cut short as his voice suddenly failed him. Huayu Ting had already appeared directly in front of him, gripping his throat.

His speed was astonishing. Even the Advance Team members were left stunned, seeing only a blur before Huayu Ting materialized in front of Wuting Li, clutching his neck.

"Wuting Li, that reckless mouth of yours will be your downfall someday," Huayu Ting glared at him coldly and warned, "Since when did Huayu’s internal affairs concern outsiders?"

"You dare kill me?" Wuting Li struggled for air under the strangling grip but defiantly asked nonetheless.

"Why would you think I wouldn’t? Trash like you is better off killed so you can reincarnate and spare yourself future troubles," Huayu Ting replied with a scornful laugh.

"Huayu Ting! Let him go!" A weathered old voice called out from the agitated crowd, but Huayu Ting remained unmoved.

He turned his head toward the elderly man who stepped from the crowd and said flatly, "Wuting Yan, you’re an elder of Wuting Clan. Do you not know how disrespectful it is to address someone directly by name?"

"You—" The old man’s face alternated between red and white at the rebuke. After a moment of hesitation, he relented and softened his tone, saying, "I ask the Young Lord for mercy and forgiveness for the younger generation’s rudeness."

"Hmph!" Huayu Ting snorted and suddenly flung Wuting Li away like a pillow. Despite his towering frame, Wuting Li was effortlessly tossed back into his group.

"Is this the Banshan technique? Incredible!" Feng, watching avidly, exclaimed in admiration, her eyes brimming with awe.

"I get the feeling these clowns aren’t even worthy practice for Huayu Ting," Cheng Ziang joked as he set his binoculars aside, laughing softly.

"Hard to say. Huayu Ting faces every situation with such confidence. You can’t judge the situation solely by his attitude," Baiyue said thoughtfully after some observation.
