Chapter 1597: Chapter 1590: Eliminating the Threat
"So, you agree?" Tangmo asked, tilting his head.
"It’s not a big deal, and it even allows us to owe a favor from Huayu Ting. Why not agree?" Cheng Ziang shrugged, saying matter-of-factly.
"Regardless of whether Huayu Ting is guilty of patricide, it’s their family affair," Baiyue said looking towards Tangmo, "We are only helping Fei Yu and her son out of humanitarian spirit, not to interfere in their internal issues."
"This is a minor issue; the bigger one is yet to come," Cheng Ziang continued.
"What issue?" the two asked in unison.
"Huayu Ting hopes that we can stay at the Huayu residence for a while, waiting for the situation to calm down before we proceed to Shengyuan Prefecture," Cheng Ziang explained.
"Might just be an excuse..." Tangmo and Baiyue exchanged a glance before speaking.
"I think it’s credible," Cheng Ziang said, "Currently, both the Wen Family and the Wu Family in Kyushu are vying for us because we have disrupted their standoff, and both parties want to win us over. At such a critical juncture, I think it’s necessary to temporarily halt our actions; otherwise, yesterday’s troubles will definitely recur."
"The Wen Family and the Wu Family..." Baiyue nodded, murmuring softly.
"Alright, tell me everything you know, I’ll go report to Luo’er," Tangmo mused.
"Don’t you need me to come? I wanted to discuss it with Luo’er," Cheng Ziang said.
"I am the attendant; only I have the qualifications to approach the Saint," Tangmo said as if it were obvious, "Now that we are in the presence of outsiders, we must respect the roles we play."
"Alright then." Cheng Ziang spread his hands helplessly.
Thus, the group stayed overnight at Fei Yu’s home. Fei Yu arranged a sumptuous dinner within her means to entertain the members of the Advance Team.
Huayu Ting did not join in; in the presence of outsiders, he unavoidably maintained a distance from Fei Yu, not overly affectionate.
However, his approach seemed a bit like hiding his head in the sand, as right after dinner, three children rushed into the room where Huayu Ting was, clinging to him, chattering non-stop.
In dealing with children, Huayu Ting showed a completely different attitude from that towards outsiders. Although he was injured and in need of recuperation, he patiently responded to the children’s chatter. Despite suspicions of patricide, it must be said, as a father, he was quite adequate.
After resting for the night, the group was ready to set off the next day. The children and Fei Yu were already aware of Huayu Ting’s plans to take them back home and had prepared early, donning cloaks and hoods to conceal their identities.
After discussion, Luo’er agreed to let Fei Yu and the three children hide in the carriage to avoid outsiders’ prying eyes until they reached the manor.
Once ready, Huayu Ting led the group out of the place, taking a small path towards the main road. Just as they reached the main road and were putting the children and Fei Yu into the carriage, the manor troops of the Huayu Family surrounded the group.
The elderly leader, on seeing Huayu Ting, immediately rushed forward and knelt on one knee, loudly exclaiming, "My lord, your servant has arrived too late, please forgive me."
"Didn’t I instruct you to hold fort at the manor?" Huayu Ting asked emotionlessly.
"Your servant was worried about your safety and came personally to receive you," Uncle Yu replied, his head bowed.
"Let’s forgo the formalities, these are the distinguished guests we need to safely escort back to the manor," Huayu Ting said, looking towards Cheng Ziang and his group.
"Yes, your servant will arrange it," Uncle Yu nodded, then turned and exchanged a knowing glance with a follower, who reacted promptly and approached Cheng Ziang and the others.
"Gentlemen, let us part here, I have some private matters to attend to. After settling them, we shall meet again at our manor," Huayu Ting turned and fist saluted towards Cheng Ziang.
"You’re too kind; let me thank you in advance for the hospitality, Young Lord," Cheng Ziang returned the gesture.
Huayu Ting didn’t speak, his expressionless face rarely showing a hint of a smile, and he waved to Cheng Ziang and his group, watching as they left, leaving Uncle Yu and the manor troops behind.
"Follow them, we absolutely cannot let the people of the Wuting Clan cause any more trouble," Huayu Ting ordered.
"Yes, I will arrange it immediately." Uncle Yu nodded and then ordered all the manor soldiers to escort the carriage.
"Is there anything else, my lord," watching the manor soldiers leave, Uncle Yu approached Huayu Ting carefully and said, "If there’s nothing else, please return to the manor, lord. After all, there might be people from the Wuting Clan around here, it’s unavoidable..."
"The Wuting Clan... what can they do to me?" Huayu Ting asked with confidence.
"My lord, after all, they are numerous and powerful..." Uncle Yu said with difficulty.
"Do you really have my best interests at heart?" Huayu Ting stared at Uncle Yu, his tone carrying a bit of intention.
"Why would my lord say such a thing, I surely have my lord’s best interests at heart," Uncle Yu replied as a matter of course.
"Is that so..."
"Of course, my lord is the Patriarch, so you are my lord, I shall follow you in life and death." For some reason, while saying this, Uncle Yu unconsciously lowered his head, not daring to look Huayu Ting in the eye.
"Ha ha, your lord... I’m afraid it’s not me, but rather father, or perhaps... my elder brother?" Huayu Ting chuckled lightly, his tone containing a chilling murderous intent.
"My, my lord, why would you say... this, there is only one sun in the old servant’s heart..." Uncle Yu swallowed his saliva, speaking nervously.
"That’s strange then," Huayu Ting sneered, then put his arm around Uncle Yu’s shoulder, pretending to be intimate, "Since I am your lord, then... how did the matters within the manor get to my elder brother who is far away in Shengyuan Prefecture?"
"My, my lord..." Hearing this, Uncle Yu shuddered all over, crying out in distress, "It wasn’t me, I didn’t do it..."
"Hmm, it might be the work of Heterogeneous Hall." Huayu Ting nodded.
"Yes, yes, my lord is wise..." Uncle Yu took a deep breath, relieved.
"But I am curious, how did my elder brother come to know about the matter of Fei Yu and her children?" Huayu Ting’s next words made Uncle Yu choke.
"It must have been done by Heterogeneous Hall, too," Huayu Ting said, then suddenly squeezed Uncle Yu’s shoulder hard, clenching his back teeth, "Or is it because there are some little rats in the manor?"
"My, my lord..." Uncle Yu trembled all over, let out a sob, his body nearly collapsing, "Lord, give me a chance, it was my foolishness, my foolishness... You are my lord, my life belongs to only you..."
"Ha ha..." Huayu Ting did not look at him, but instead glanced in the direction where the carriage disappeared. After a moment of silence, he spoke in a relaxed tone, "I have taken Fei Yu and the children into the carriage, and plan to bring them back to the manor. After all, they are my wives, it’s my duty to take care of them, don’t you think?"
"My lord..." Uncle Yu was weeping inconsolably.
"Elder brother will surely hear about them eventually, how should I face it then?" Huayu Ting looked at Uncle Yu, tilting his head and asking.
"My lord, I was wrong..." Uncle Yu trembled all over, tears streaming down his face, filled with regret.
"You have never seen me as your lord, in your eyes, father is the lord, elder brother is the lord, I am nothing. After all, as someone as ruthless as me, what right do I have to be your lord?" Huayu Ting said slowly.
"You, you are my lord..." Uncle Yu sobbed.
"Such a pity, I gave you a chance," Huayu Ting said, slowly moving closer to Uncle Yu’s ear and whispering, "but loyalty that is not absolute, is absolutely not loyalty. To ensure the safety of Fei Yu and the children, I must eliminate all potential threats, including you..."
Hearing this, Uncle Yu’s eyes bulged and his mouth opened wide, but he couldn’t make a sound. Because as soon as Huayu Ting finished his words, his hand had already penetrated his chest, coming out from the back.
"My, my lord..."
Uncle Yu grimaced and struggled to make a sound as Huayu Ting violently pulled out his hand and pushed him away, splattering blood everywhere. Uncle Yu staggered a few steps before slowly collapsing on the road, the large hole in his chest visible and horrifying.
"I should have trusted you, but you betrayed my trust, what a pity..." Huayu Ting looked down at Uncle Yu from above, closing his eyes and letting out a series of sighs.
