Chapter 1568: Chapter 1561: Revelation in a Dream
Cheng Ziang was restless as well; the events of the day had deeply wounded his heart. Despite appearing cold-blooded and resolute, he still had soft principles within him. The idea of others getting hurt because of him was something he could not accept under any circumstances.
He took off his mask and lay in bed, unable to fall asleep for a long time. A part of the reason for this was Hu Daoke’s snoring, but the main reason was the turmoil within his heart.
Cheng Ziang stared into the darkness, his eyes wide open. As he became accustomed to the dark, the boundary between having his eyes open and closed gradually blurred. He didn’t know when, but slowly, he closed his eyes.
In that dreamlike state, it seemed like he had returned to a few days ago, to the encounter with that person.
"Hey, my name is...do you remember?" The girl stood in front of Cheng Ziang with her hands behind her back, looking somewhat shy.
Her face seemed to be smeared with mosaic, no matter what Cheng Ziang did he couldn’t make out her features. He looked around at the surroundings shrouded in fog and instinctively asked, "What’s your name?"
"I’ve said it so many times, how come you haven’t remembered?" the girl said somewhat reproachfully.
"I only know you’re a girl, I don’t know the rest," Cheng Ziang said blankly as he stared at her, answering honestly.
"Well then, I’ll say it one more time, my name is..." As soon as she got to the crucial information, the girl’s voice became indistinct, like a radio being interfered with, emitting meaningless noise.
"What’s your name?" Cheng Ziang asked urgently.
"My name is..."
"You are..."
"Ah..."
"Ah..."
"Si..."
"Si..."
"Remember now?" After the girl finished speaking, she laughed teasingly.
"Your name is Ah..." Cheng Ziang tried to recall, but his brain was like a machine lacking oil, no matter what, it couldn’t work effectively, which made him very irritated, and he emitted an angry sound while clutching his head.
"Ah Si..." The girl’s voice, like a wisp of smoke, entered his ears, as if whispered right beside him, and yet as if it came from a very distant place.
"Your name is Ah Si!" Cheng Ziang finally remembered and shouted in surprise, his eyes wide open.
"Hehe..." It seemed the girl was very satisfied with Cheng Ziang’s moment of realization, she stepped back two paces and let out a gentle laugh.
"What on earth do you look like, don’t go, let me see your face," Cheng Ziang said, reaching out to try to wipe the mosaic off the girl’s face.
But to his astonishment, he discovered that the girl’s figure was dissolving like smoke, slowly fading away. No matter how he reached out, he couldn’t touch her skin, only to stir the smoke that made up her body more dispersed.
"Don’t go, don’t go, don’t go..." Cheng Ziang, as if bewitched, kept stirring with his hands, only making the girl’s image increasingly chaotic, until it eventually turned into a meaningless wisp of smoke that gradually mixed with the surrounding mist.
"What’s my name?" A distant and airy voice came from afar; it seemed to be at the horizon, but it felt as if it was right next to his ear.
"Your name is Ah Si, your name is Ah Si!" Cheng Ziang shouted out loud without any reservation and finally opened his eyes, seeing the long-missed candlelight.
"No, I’m Hu Daoke." Hu Daoke was sitting by him on his knees, holding a candlestick and looking at him concerningly.
"Old Hu!" Once Cheng Ziang saw Hu Daoke’s familiar face, he immediately felt relieved, and a cold sweat broke out from his back.
"Yo, you still remember my name, huh? So who were you calling just now?" Hu Daoke asked jokingly.
"The name I was just calling?" Cheng Ziang was startled for a moment, then suddenly became excited, got up, grabbed Hu Daoke’s shoulder, and eagerly asked, "Old Hu, what was the name I just called out?"
"Eh, you’re asking me." Hu Daoke was taken aback.
"Stop talking nonsense, just tell me," Cheng Ziang said anxiously.
"Eh, it seems like her name was... Ah Si?" Hu Daoke thought for a moment and said hesitantly.
"Right, right, right, Ah Si, her name is Ah Si, hahahaha." Cheng Ziang grinned, revealing an understanding smile, then swept Hu Daoke into a tight embrace around his neck.
"No, bro, bro, my name isn’t Ah Si, don’t get so cozy..." Hu Daoke, with a blushing old face, struggled to say.
"That woman, the one who can use the Fog Concealment Skill, her name is Ah Si, I remember now," Cheng Ziang released Hu Daoke and said happily.
"Ah Si? I have absolutely no recollection of her," Hu Daoke said with a puzzled look, spreading his hands.
"Of course, you don’t remember, or why else would they say she can use the Fog Concealment Skill?" Cheng Ziang said as if it were a matter of course.
"Then how do you know about her?" Hu Daoke asked.
"Dreamt it?" Cheng Ziang replied matter-of-factly.
"Dreamt it," Hu Daoke squinted at him and finally said with a deep tone, "Old bro, that’s not right, dreaming about another woman, that’s not very proper, is it?"
"I can’t control my dreams, what one thinks during the day is reflected in the dreams at night," Cheng Ziang shrugged and said.
The next day, a bright and fresh Cheng Ziang arrived at Luo’er’s room and reported the dream he had last night. Tangmo was quite cautious about such intelligence: "Since the establishment of the Advance Team, there hasn’t been a case of getting intelligence through dreams, right?"
"Ah Si, Heterogeneous Hall’s Ah Si..." Luo’er mused.
"Sister Moumou, if you’re talking about precedents, there actually is one, don’t forget that the boss dreamt about Tana before," Hu Daoke said, scratching his head.
"Could it be that Cheng Ziang’s dream was also a result of someone sending a dream?" Baiyue analyzed carefully.
"Surely not, after all, the boss was sent a dream by Tana, but can just anyone send a dream in this world?" Hu Daoke asked, spreading his hands.
"The Fog Concealment Skill is supposedly unbreakable, yet you managed to break it and learned her name. What was the reason? Could it really just be a coincidence?" Baiyue asked, focusing on Cheng Ziang.
"I also think it’s not a coincidence, after all, I’ve never been known for luck, and I don’t believe in such a thing as luck," Cheng Ziang said with a puzzled look on his face, "But what could the reason be?"
"The All-knowing once said that only Nascent Souls could break the Fog Concealment Skill, and according to our current intelligence, Nascent Souls should refer to Demigods, so..." Baiyue continued analyzing.
"So you mean to say, I broke the Fog Concealment Skill using the power of a Demigod?" Cheng Ziang asked, frowning.
"Or should we say, a Demigod reminded you." Baiyue said, looking at him intently.
"Liseya?" Cheng Ziang asked, blinking, confused.
"That can’t be right, how can Liseya look like someone who can communicate?" Hu Daoke questioned, baffled.
"That’s because she doesn’t communicate with us, haven’t you noticed? She only pays attention to Cheng Ziang," Baiyue explained.
"Is that really the case?" Cheng Ziang said and subconsciously touched the pendant on his chest.
"Speaking of which," Tangmo asked with a puzzled face, "how exactly do Demigods break the Fog Concealment Skill? I really want to know the principle behind it."
"Hmph, hmph, hmph, that bad woman has nothing left but her badness, her brain’s gone to mush," Fulajie’er suddenly appeared out of thin air, arms crossed, and a smug look on her face.
"Then you tell us, if it were you, how would you break the Fog Concealment Skill?" Tangmo asked, unaffected, tilting his head.
"Why bother breaking it? The Fog Concealment Skill means nothing in front of me," Fulajie’er boasted, doing a somersault in mid-air, "If it were me, I’d just need to keep my eyes on her. No matter how she tries to hide, all I need is to keep my focus on her, and she won’t have anywhere to hide."
"That’s brutally simple..." Tangmo rolled his eyes and said.
"No, maybe that’s the real reason why Nascent Souls can break the Fog Concealment Skill," Cheng Ziang spoke up, "From my personal understanding, the biggest feature of the Fog Concealment Skill, or its strongest point, is to minimize one’s presence as much as possible to make people subconsciously overlook it. Xiao Fula can fly into mid-air, using an aerial drone’s perspective to monitor, and no matter how much she reduces her presence, she can’t escape this kind of invisible surveillance."
"Come to think of it, a person’s perception can be divided into sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, and the unacknowledged sixth sense. Compared to us, Fulajie’er seems to lack some perceptions, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing," Baiyue analyzed.
