Chapter 1565 - 1558: All-knowing
Chapter 1565: Chapter 1558: All-knowing
"Being put that way by you, it is indeed the truth," the man nodded and said, "The strength of the Fog Concealment Skill is such that even cultivators in the Golden Core Realm find it hard to detect, only those in the Nascent Soul Realm can see through it. If those four masters were from the Nascent Soul Realm, theoretically, they should be able to break your Fog Concealment Skill."
"However, the fact is, it seems neither Azure Dragon nor White Tiger are of the Nascent Soul Realm, otherwise they would have seen through me long ago." Ah Si spoke indifferently.
"Could it be Vermilion Bird and Black Tortoise?" another voice asked.
"I don’t think so; rather, Vermilion Bird and Black Tortoise aren’t even cultivators, just ordinary people," Ah Si said with a shake of her head.
"In that case, the true master of the Nascent Soul Realm could only be a saint or his attendant. But since neither has left their quarters, how did they manage to kill those two Star-shattering experts?" The man fell into deep thought.
"Could it really be as they claim, that the saint can command Heaven’s will?" another voice asked anxiously.
"Don’t panic; keep calm," the man said steadily, "At any rate, although we’re not certain yet, let’s not provoke them anymore for now and instead quietly observe them for a while. Especially you, don’t rush to act just because you have the Fog Concealment Skill; if a Nascent Soul Realm master targets you, you won’t be able to escape."
"Wouldn’t that be bad?" Ah Si asked with a smile.
"What’s good about that? If you ruin the Young Lord’s plans, how could you repay his favor in raising you?" the man coldly said.
"Stop pressing me with the Young Lord all the time. I know what I am doing, and I know how to repay the Young Lord’s kindness," Ah Si said a bit angrily.
"It’s good that you know. Also, don’t use the Fog Concealment Skill on our own people anymore, it’s inappropriate. Even though we aren’t comrades, we are still colleagues; show some courtesy. That’s it, let’s disperse," the man said, gesturing to snuff out the candle.
Soon, the room plunged into darkness. Ah Si closed her eyes, still sensing the shadow of the candle. She tightly held the charm with two hollow bells, and the tinkling sound abruptly ceased.
Feeling that there was no presence of others in the room, Ah Si dejectedly sat down on the spot, clasping the charm and those two bells tightly, whispering to herself with her head lowered, "I have never used the Fog Concealment Skill on you, yet whenever the bells cease their ringing, you disregard my existence. Am I really so dispensable? If, if he truly is a Nascent Soul Realm master, will he recognize me the next time we meet?"
"Always like this, from childhood to adulthood, always being ignored, always being forgotten. Will I also someday die unnoticed next to a latrine like my master?"
"How I... long to be noticed. Yet the irony is, the reason I get noticed is because of the Fog Concealment Skill, this ability to lower my presence, making others overlook me..."
As Ah Si spoke, she gently shook the charm, and the hollow bells on it produced a crisp ringing sound. She closed her eyes, recalling today’s events, and suddenly, tears streamed down her face.
It had been two days since Cheng Ziang dropped the gun, and during those days, the Advance Team stayed quietly inside without daring to venture out again for fear of encountering that bizarre scene once more.
Now even Cheng Ziang, a firm Materialist, could not help but feel fear. To think that he, the man who fought demigods and plundered ancestral graves, could start to be afraid, sufficiently indicated the severe psychological impact the Fog Concealment Skill had caused him.
On the third day, Xihe finally arrived at the residence with good news. At the moment, the County Magistrate Luzun Hong had urgent matters to attend to outside. Xihe, having nothing better to do, visited the Government office frequently, seemingly taking turns keeping an eye on the Advance Team.
Xihe, being a military overseer, felt as casual as if he were at his own home whenever he entered the Government office, which left the members of the Advance Team utterly perplexed.
"Manor Lord, hope all is well." Upon arriving, Xihe greeted Cheng Ziang with a respectful cupping of the hands.
"Supervising Officer is too polite," Cheng Ziang replied courteously.
"The matter entrusted to me by the Manor Lord has been handled. We found an All-knowing outside the city. If the Manor Lord is willing, I would be honored to introduce you," Xihe said.
"Ah, really? That’s great, thank you so much, Officer," Cheng Ziang exclaimed delightedly.
"No need to be so polite," Xihe said with a smile, waving his hand. Then he sobered up and continued seriously, "But the matter of meeting must still be handled by the Manor Lord himself. After all, we are all officials; it’s not quite appropriate for us to deal with affairs of the pugilist world."
"That is only natural; I am already very grateful for your help, sir," Cheng Ziang said.
"Then, if the Manor Lord wishes, we can set off immediately," Xihe continued.
"Very well, I will prepare immediately," Cheng Ziang nodded and hurriedly replied.
Next, he summoned the four from the Advance Team and tasked Fulajie’er and Tangmo with protecting Luo’er before excitedly following Xihe out of the door.
They left the city via the streets and arrived at the bustling Luo Yue Gathering outside the city. Under the guidance of Xihe, dressed in plain clothes, the group made their way through the crowd and crooked alleys, making contact with several connections before finally reaching a house at the end of the alley.
"I can only escort you here; from this point onward, it’s up to you. We will wait outside, and if anything seems amiss, shout immediately and run; we will rush in and assist you," Xihe said with a bow upon arriving at the house.
He didn’t bring many people, only about a dozen, but they were all strong and capable. Unless they encountered powerful cultivators, no one could handle his men.
"Thank you, long-serving County Magistrate, I thank you in advance," Cheng Ziang expressed his gratitude.
"No need for such formality; it’s all part of the job," Xihe waved his hand and said.
After the exchange of pleasantries, Cheng Ziang led the trio towards the house; as soon as they approached the door, they were stopped by a burly man. The burly man coldly stated, "Hold on, leave your swords outside!"
"It doesn’t matter," Cheng Ziang appeared quite calm in the face of the burly man’s demand, he turned around and handed his sword to Feng, and then told her, "You stay outside; we three will go in."
"Understood!" Feng nodded and took the sword from his hand.
Because they were in plain clothes, their Yuanzi guns were all disassembled into pistols and carried close to their bodies. These people had no concept of firearms, so they did not ask them to surrender their guns.
Following the burly man, the three entered the somewhat dimly lit house. Inside, there was a strong smell of sweat mixed with an overwhelming fragrance of incense, giving an odd sensation. It reminded them of their time in Western Continent, where they contacted information dealers in similar fashion.
They moved through the cluttered house to its deeper parts. There was a screen in the room, and just as the three entered, a man’s voice came from behind the screen, "Are you the guests referred by the officials?"
"Indeed, I heard you are All-knowing, aware of the major and minor affairs of the martial world," Cheng Ziang nodded and took a step forward as he spoke.
"I wouldn’t claim to know everything, but I do know a little about the affairs of the martial world," the man chuckled.
"Less idle talk, we’re looking for someone; not sure if you’re familiar with them," Cheng Ziang said.
"Since the official referred you, I can offer a discount regarding the payment," the man didn’t directly answer his question.
"Money is not an issue," Cheng Ziang said, pulling out a bag of silver coins from his robe and tossing it over the screen.
"It seems you know the rules well; then let’s get straight to the point. What exactly do you wish to know?" the man said satisfiedly.
"I am looking for someone, someone skilled in Fog Concealment Skill," Cheng Ziang said.
"Fog Concealment Skill, what do you need a Mist Concealment Master for?" The man was somewhat surprised by Cheng Ziang’s question.
"I pay for answers, not questions," Cheng Ziang spoke unruffled.
"Alright, Fog Concealment Skill, it’s one of the most secretive schools amongst the Nine Streams. A powerful Mist Concealment Master can completely hide their tracks; not even Jiedan Realm masters can find them, unless they’re Nascent Soul Realm masters," the man replied.
