Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 1526 - 1519: Goddess Warning

Chapter 1526: Chapter 1519: Goddess Warning

"This is a drill; from now on, unless we’re in an absolutely safe environment, everyone must adapt to their role identity and not overstep their bounds. Understood, Old Hu?" Cheng Ziang said, glancing at Hu Daoke, who was picking himself up from the ground.

"Why single me out? I’m the most devout follower of the boss, and I kneel with full worship." Hu Daoke retorted, unconvinced.

"What did you call him?" Cheng Ziang asked back.

"Saint..." Hu Daoke opened his mouth, quickly realizing his mistake, and hastened to correct himself.

"Remember, from now on, in front of us, there is no Luo’er, no boss, only the Saint we serve. Don’t overstep your bounds." Cheng Ziang reminded once more.

"In doing so, aren’t we elevating Luo’er to a sacred pedestal, to the extent that we can’t even touch him?" Baiyue asked, somewhat worried.

"There’s no helping it; some sacrifices have to be made. I believe Luo’er can understand that. From today on, the Saint is the Saint, and we are us. We can fool around amongst ourselves, but we must maintain absolute respect for the Saint," Cheng Ziang said, shaking his head.

From that moment on, the Advance Team officially entered their roles, with everyone beginning to play their part, no longer overstepping lightly.

Time approached evening, and after a light dinner, everyone went to bed early. This world lacked nighttime entertainment, so there was no need to force oneself to stay up late.

Normally, the Guardian Squad, as guards of the Saint, should stand watch and patrol at night. However, with Fulajie’er, the demigod who needed no rest, they were not so strict; they slept at night, leaving the patrolling duties to Fulajie’er.

As a spiritual entity, she had no concept of weariness, so at night, she would continuously circle the yard, monitoring for any potential dangers.

In the wee hours, just as everyone was deep in sleep, suddenly, a surge of Magical Fluctuations woke everyone up instantly.

The trained members of the Advance Team were very sensitive to the fluctuations of magic in the air; any disturbance would immediately alert them.

With the severe Magical Fluctuations, they saw a faint blue glow emanating from outside the window. The Guardians, realizing their role, grabbed their weapons and rushed outside in their clothes.

Outside, they saw a towering goddess statue appearing in the pitch-black night sky. It was a statue made of magic, with a luminous pale complexion that looked somewhat transparent.

The statue of the goddess was about twenty meters tall, with a dignified and majestic demeanor. Upon closer inspection, they were startled to find that the face resembled that of Nina, Luo’er’s mother. She had long, drooping Elf ears, half-closed eyes revealing captivating dark green pupils, and long silvery white hair that glowed softly, waving in the wind, and occasionally emitting sparkling light that scattered toward the ground.

This goddess statue was an illusion created by Fulajie’er concentrating magic, likely imitating the formless deity Tana. As mentioned before, Tana had no form of her own; to those looking at her, she would take the form of whoever they were thinking of.

Hence, it appeared that Fulajie’er was imitating the image of Tana in Luo’er’s mind. For Luo’er, Tana’s image was that of his mother Nina, and whenever he looked at Tana, all he could think of was Nina.

The goddess statue was about ten meters above the ground, standing a total height of roughly twenty meters. Its radiance briefly illuminated a vast area, making the yard as bright as day, causing even the horses in the stables to start neighing restlessly.

The gentle cold light did not hinder the four from observing their surroundings. Staring at the goddess statue in the sky, Cheng Ziang suddenly saw the goddess lower her head to look at them briefly before lifting her gaze in a specific direction.

At this sight, Cheng Ziang immediately reacted; Fulajie’er was issuing a warning of danger approaching, while also using the illusion to produce light to guide them to address the threat.

"Everyone to your positions, machine gunners and snipers take control of the high ground, Feng makes the first move, following the Goddess’s line of sight!" In a moment of urgency, Cheng Ziang couldn’t care less about their current titles and directly used familiar ones.

"Yes, sir!" Feng was the first to react, immediately drawing his long sword and leaping over the wall, dashing in the direction that the Goddess was looking.

"Received!" Right after that, the machine gunner and sniper, Hu Daoke and Baiyue, also snapped to it, quickly taking their weapons and heading in different directions.

No sooner had the tasks been arranged than screams started coming from outside the courtyard—Feng, who had not received orders to control the use of force, was never one to show mercy. Thinking this, Cheng Ziang hurried out of the main gate to see what was happening outside.

Reaching the exterior of the courtyard, he saw several bodies lying on the open ground in daylight, some freshly dead, their bodies still twitching uncontrollably.

In the serene cold light, Feng moved like a ghoul from the underworld, flitting between light and shadow; each passage was followed by a piercing scream.

"Leave some alive for questioning!" Cheng Ziang yelled urgently.

It wasn’t really because of Cheng Ziang that Feng was ruthless, but because Luo’er had already given the command of no mercy, which was why Feng had disregarded the use of force.

The same old story: while Feng was very close to Cheng Ziang and the others, when it came to commands, she was more willing to follow Luo’er’s. Luo’er’s commands were equivalent to the highest directive, overriding all others.

However, this did not mean that Cheng Ziang’s commands were completely ineffective. About a minute after he shouted, Feng appeared, leading a man with trembling legs towards him.

Under the night sky, the image of the Goddess remained. For Fulajie’er, driving such a degree of magical power was a piece of cake. If not for Luo’er’s prohibition on killing, she could have been the strongest force of the Advance Team, without a doubt.

Standing quietly in place, Cheng Ziang waited for Feng to bring the man before him, lit by the Goddess’s serene glow. The man seemed to be seeing a miracle for the first time; he was so terrified that he didn’t even dare to lift his head, just staring down at the ground.

Upon reaching Cheng Ziang, Feng skillfully kicked the back of the man’s leg, causing him to cry out in pain, and he quickly knelt and prostrated himself. From his voice, the man sounded young, but his origins remained unknown.

"What are you doing sneaking around the Saints’ resting place in the dead of night?" Cheng Ziang asked calmly, with his arms crossed.

The man was lying on the ground, shivering, maintaining silence in response to Cheng Ziang’s question, unsure if he was truly petrified or intentionally concealing something.

But his silence clearly did not last long. Seeing that he did not answer Cheng Ziang’s question, Feng immediately stepped forward, the sharp blade of her knife resting on the back of the man’s neck. Feeling the sharpness of the blade, the man finally let out a sound of terror.

"The Saints have long given the warning: any further disturbance, and it’s death without mercy. What exactly are you doing here in the dead of night?" Cheng Ziang bent down and asked casually.

"Please, Manor Lord, spare us, we were just passing by..." The man’s voice conveyed grievance.

"Just passing by?" Cheng Ziang raised his eyebrows upon hearing the reply. After pondering for a moment, he turned to look at Fulajie’er, who had transformed into the Goddess, but quickly turned back, his mind already made up.

Even though he hadn’t communicated with Fulajie’er, the tacit understanding from countless battles reassured him that Fulajie’er wouldn’t create such a commotion without good reason.

He knew Fulajie’er well—if it was just ordinary people being curious and secretly observing the Saints, Fulajie’er wouldn’t have caused such a big stir; she would have simply scared them off. After all, she was still a little girl, and the loneliness of night patrol might inevitably lead her to seek some amusement.

But she had caused such a big disturbance, even waking up the entire Advance Team, clearly because she had sensed the hostile intent of these people. Therefore, she took special care to send a warning signal to the Advance Team and provide the necessary illumination for visibility.
