Chapter 1324 - 1317: Seeking to Retreat

Chapter 1324: Chapter 1317: Seeking to Retreat

Generals widened their eyes as flames that devoured everything poured down, and it wasn’t until someone was completely swallowed by the fire and let out a piercing scream that they had the sudden realization to quickly disengage from the battlefield.

At that moment, they had no heart to continue fighting, their only wish was to avoid this hell on earth. They had never imagined that such a small, thin girl could contain such a formidable power within her to overwhelm everything.

Such might, even Royal Dao Generals of the Dongsheng army would find difficult to conjure, but this young girl managed it, and her power was devastating.

Once morale dissipated, even Generals could easily scatter. These Generals seemed to have a habit of running away, as they took to their heels at the sight of such danger, utterly disregarding any notion of battlefield honor.

And so, after the skyfire had descended, except for a dozen unlucky ones who were burned, the rest of the Generals were no longer inclined to fight, each scurrying off with their tails between their legs, a crisis averted all due to Tangmo’s massive move.

"Indeed, provoking a Forbidden Curse Mage is unpleasant," Cheng Ziang muttered while vigorously blowing on his hot Origin Submachine Gun.

After witnessing the Generals’ retreat, Tangmo let out a deep sigh of relief, stopped chanting spells, and collapsed as if having lost all support.

"Sister Moumou!" Seeing her fall, Feng, disregarding his own discomfort, rushed to catch her.

"It’s okay, it’s okay, I’ll recover shortly, thankfully it wasn’t a real Forbidden Curse..." Tangmo waved her hand weakly, trying to reassure.

"That was close, you wicked woman," Fulajie’er remarked, "The magic power sustaining the shield was almost depleted by you. Fortunately, I stole a bit of the magic power you had accumulated, otherwise you both would have gone up in flames as well."

"I was wondering why the power felt different from what I had anticipated; turns out you were cutting corners," Tangmo squinted, looking ready to fall asleep.

"Stop chatting and heal her already," Feng’s voice clearly carried a sobbing tone.

"Oh come on, what’s the rush? It’s not like real Forbidden Curse magic, she’s not half-dead, just some internal injuries," Fulajie’er said with tough talk, but she began to heal Tangmo nonetheless.

Cheng Ziang, clutching his gun, stepped over the charred bodies and ran to their side, remaining on guard as he asked without turning back, "Is everything alright?"

"I won’t die!" Tangmo declared.

"Good to hear, I wouldn’t want Luo’er coming after me for trouble, not knowing what kind of explanation to give," Cheng Ziang said, also heaving a sigh of relief.

After the Generals had routed, the garrison forces at the stronghold also fled. As the Demon Clan’s army gathered in strength, the area became firmly under their control, and Cheng Ziang finally set down his submachine gun.

"Sister Moumou, Feng, are you both okay?" Baiyue arrived, running with her gun and asked with concern.

"Minor issues, I’ll be fine soon," Tangmo waved her hand.

"What about me? Seems like no one is concerned about me," Cheng Ziang pointed to himself.

"Looking at you, it’s obvious you’re fine, so what’s there to ask?" Hu Daoke followed, glancing at him and rolling his eyes.

"Sorry we arrived late..." Baiyue spoke with a hint of guilt.

"No, you were further away, it’s normal to be late," Tangmo waved her off reassuringly.

By then, the Demon Clan’s forces had surrounded them, but whether it was soldiers of the Beast-Ear Race or the Advance Team of the Beast Head Tribe, everyone’s perception of Tangmo had undergone a complete shift.

Not just the Generals—everyone who had witnessed it all could scarcely believe that such an apparently frail girl harbored such colossal strength within her body, able to instantly kill dozens of Generals.

Clearly, on that day atop the walls of Lingyuan City, if she had unleashed such a powerful skill, the Dongsheng army beneath the city would surely have been utterly decimated, with no will left to fight.

This seemed to be a prejudice unique to the people of the East Continent, who assumed that Tangmo relied on the magic within her body to cast Forbidden Curses. Not only did the General think this way, but the members of the Demon Clan did as well, which is why they all subconsciously ignored the intense Magical Fluctuations that occurred before the activation of a Forbidden Curse.

But in fact, as previously emphasized, the magic of the Western Continent operates differently, whereas that of the East Continent is about storage and release. Tangmo, a quintessential Mage of the Western Continent, didn’t need to absorb magic before releasing it, but could simply manipulate and unleash it directly.

In any case, after this battle, Tangmo had certainly established a formidable reputation in the hearts of the Demon Clan’s troops, and everyone believed that this seemingly frail young girl was an extremely powerful Royal Dao Cultivator.

So, on the way back, no one dared to speak loudly to the members of the Advance Team. Even the slightly arrogant commander of the Demon Clan’s forces showed them utmost respect. After all, the overwhelming combat prowess they had displayed was still fresh in their memories.

Upon returning to the camp, Baiyue made a preliminary count of the half-month’s achievements. The results showed that the number of Generals lost by the Dongsheng army had reached the threshold at which they could consider retreat. Now, all they needed to do was to find the commander named Xuan and complete the handover of Wufeng City and the remaining cities, and thus reclaim the territories of South West Outer Heaven.

However, on this issue, Baiyue had a different opinion. Based on her understanding of Xuan, she thought him too cunning, making it unrealistic to expect him to retreat.

But no matter what, Cheng Ziang believed that they should at least try, otherwise their half-month of effort would be in vain. If that guy was not willing to retreat, then they would send a message back to Lingyuan City, directly pressuring them with their large army to seize Wufeng City by force.

Therefore, Cheng Ziang planned to make another contact with Xuan to see if he would agree to retreat. If he did, then all would be well; if not, they would meet in battle. Anyway, after such a loss of Generals, the strength of the Dongsheng army surely could not be compared to that of just over a month ago.

Since Tangmo was injured, she naturally couldn’t be part of this action. Moreover, they had to assign someone to take care of her. After arranging everything, Cheng Ziang decided to leave Hu Daoke behind to take care of his sister, and the rest, including Fulajie’er, would follow him to make contact again with the commander of Dongsheng to discuss the terms of retreat.

As night fell, the group once again set up an ambush at a familiar location, and it was again Feng and Fulajie’er who entered the city to find someone.

This time, Feng was again well-prepared, but what caught her off guard was that Xuan was not in his bedroom. Instead, he sat in the open courtyard, resting his chin on his hands, deep in thought, apparently waiting for her arrival.

Dozens of lamp posts surrounded the courtyard, with their light making the courtyard quite bright. As soon as Feng stepped into the courtyard, she immediately felt that something was amiss.

"Did you know I was coming?" Faced with this scenario, Feng couldn’t help but frown and ask aloud.

"No, that’s why I’m here waiting every day," Xuan replied, looking up at her voice, speaking in a calm and unhurried manner.

"Now that you see me here, you should know what I want, right?" Feng asked coldly.

She was the one who raised these points, not on behalf of Cheng Ziang. She wasn’t some dumb or naive girl; she was capable of asking such questions on her own.

"Yes, I saw it. You’ve done well, but..." Xuan began to speak, then suddenly paused as if hesitating to continue.

"But what?" Feng asked cautiously.

"Hey, Little Fengye, something’s not right around here. There are a lot of Generals hidden; we seem to be ambushed. Should we run first?" At that moment, she received the warning from Fulajie’er in her mind.

"With you here, I can get away, right?" Feng responded.

"Of course. Don’t underestimate me, even though I’m just support," Fulajie’er snorted with confidence.

"Then let’s counter their scheme with their own plan!" Feng said.

"When did you become so smart, speaking Chinese like that?" Fulajie’er expressed in surprise and delight.

"Who are you talking to?" Noticing the movement of Feng’s lips, Xuan couldn’t help but ask.

"That’s none of your business," Feng said ungraciously.
