Chapter 1225 - 1218: The Flowing Source River

Chapter 1225: Chapter 1218: The Flowing Source River

For Ronisca, as long as they could preserve the Helrandum, there were endless Supplies of Magic Crystals. Even the accompanying supply ships were expendable, ready to be jettisoned at any time.

After all, the ocean was still occupied by the Leviathan, and it was impossible for anyone to delve into the deep sea to salvage these warships and decipher their anti-gravity engine devices.

However, the effect of this cannonade was obvious. This new type of Magic Crystal Cannon, utilizing the theory of particle entanglement, took down a giant beast almost larger than the Helrandum with just one blast. To call it the Giant Beast Killer Cannon would not be an overstatement.

As the giant beast fell, the battle finally came to a temporary halt. Reimer sat back in his chair, taking a deep breath and giving some instructions to his subordinates.

"Captain Reimer, what are our plans next?" Luo’er stepped forward and asked.

"According to the original plan, we should disembark for some reconnaissance, and now that this giant beast has been downed by us, we are quite interested in understanding the damage effects. If you all are interested, you can follow the research experts and disembark." Reimer replied.

"How long can we stay here?" Luo’er glanced at Zhuyan Yu and posed a second question.

"We should not be able to stay for long," Reimer said with a serious face, "this time we are acting as the advance team. We will surely come back later, but definitely not now. So if you all wish to conduct reconnaissance, please do so quickly. I will delay as much as possible to ensure you complete your scientific research mission."

"Thank you, Captain. Then we will follow the transport plane and disembark." After exchanging looks with everyone, Luo’er nodded and responded.

"Hmm, everyone, try not to go too far because we might have to return at any moment," Reimer continued to caution them.

After bidding farewell to Reimer and leaving the bridge, Luo’er had everyone get their weapons and equipment ready, preparing to follow the transport plane off the ship. He was quite curious himself about how the seemingly small Magic Crystal Cannon managed to kill an Overturning Giant Beast in one shot.

The Helrandum, as an aircraft carrier, had more than six transport planes, each capable of carrying at least ten fully-armed marines. The advance team consisted of five people plus Zhuyan Yu and Taran, making seven, which was just right for one transport plane.

The transport planes were mainly docked on platforms along the side of the ship, directly connected to the marines’ cabin for easy troop deployment. After boarding the transport plane, it detached and began to descend slowly towards the ground with its anti-gravity engine, while the pilot carefully adjusted the flight attitude.

Below was an endless sea of forests and undulating mountain ranges. Although they were just a few hundred meters tall hills, from afar it was almost impossible to find a piece of flat land.

After numerous flight adjustments, the transport plane finally hovered above a chaotic trail created by the Scouring Sky Beast. The trees here were broken and torn by the beast and, after a thick layer of decomposed leaves had been removed, the dusky soil of the ground was finally exposed.

In fact, if colonization were the goal, this place would be an ideal landing site as it was all trees as far as the eye could see, ensuring an abundance of building materials and fuel for decades to come.

Disembarking from the transport plane onto the soil of the East Continent, the first thing that caught their eyes was the Overturning Beast’s colossal body.

From their view on the Helrandum, looking down, the Scouring Sky Beast had already seemed immense. Now, standing on the ground and looking up, they could directly perceive how massive the airborne giant beast truly was.

The Overturning Beast lay there quietly, having already lost its life, with blue blood flowing from its body, emitting an eerie glow, and forming a small stream on the ground.

At this point, Dwarven scientists had already begun examining the Overturning Beast, so the group carefully stepped over the broken trees and slowly approached the beast’s corpse.

The closer they got to the Overturning Beast, the more palpable the oppressive feeling from the behemoth became. The glowing stream on the ground seemed particularly conspicuous for some reason, and every time they looked at it, they felt compelled to avert their gaze.

Moreover, the closer they got to the stream, the more uncomfortable they felt, as though it were a radioactive substance with harmful radiation. Of course, they knew that on Otherworld, there was no such thing as radioactive materials, because the physical laws of Earth did not apply here.

"Be careful not to step on this stuff; this is highly concentrated magic that will erode your bodies," warned a Dwarven scientist, noting their expressions of discomfort and pointing to the stream.

"This is... the Source River!" Upon hearing his description, Zhuyan Yu couldn’t help but exclaim in amazement.

"The Source River?" Everyone was startled for a moment and turned to look at her.

"Yes, this is the Source River." Zhuyan Yu, disregarding her discomfort, excitedly rushed to the stream’s edge, knelt down, held her breath, and bent over to examine the glowing stream.

"Teacher Zhu, be careful, although you are now a person of the Otherworld, your magic essence is weak, and you can’t withstand the erosion of magical power," Luo’er stepped forward and advised.

"Could this be what Xia Yue mentioned, the birthplace of life in the Otherworld, the Source River!" Tangmo was the first to realize and said with sudden enlightenment.

According to Xia Yue’s description, the myriad things of the Otherworld originated from the Source River, just as life on Earth originated from primordial soup. The ’source’ is actually the term used by the Ancestors for magic essence, and the Source River is in fact a river of magical essence, the origin of all life in the Otherworld.

In the Titan Era, the Source River gave birth to the Leviathan race in the ocean, the Behemoth Race and Titan Race on the ground, and the Overturning Beast race in the sky. Thus, as ancient creatures from the Titan Era, it wasn’t surprising that the bodies of Overturning Beasts were suffused with the Source River.

What Tangmo was curious about, however, was if the concentration of magical power in the Overturning Beast was so high, how was it killed by a single shot of the Magic Crystal cannon?

Even if the cannon gathered the entire ship’s magical power, it couldn’t compare to the magic essence contained within the Overturning Beast’s body. Logically, hitting an Overturning Beast with the Magic Crystal cannon should be like pouring mineral water into the sea, insignificant. So how could it have killed the Overturning Beast instantly?

"Isn’t the Source River supposed to form under high-pressure environments, like deep in the ocean? How could there be a Source River on the surface?" Baiyue couldn’t help but frown and asked.

"Look, the Source River evaporates once it flows over there, it seems indeed that the Source River can’t be preserved on the ground," Cheng Ziang pointed not far away and said.

Following the direction he pointed, the group saw the glowing blue Source River flowing for about several dozen meters before disappearing without a trace, clearly having evaporated completely.

"No, no, we must preserve it, this is a rare and precious research material!" Zhuyan Yu said as she hurriedly took a glass bottle out of her bag.

"Teacher Zhu, Teacher Zhu, please be calm, calm down," Luo’er held her back and advised, "Teacher Zhu, under normal atmospheric pressure, you can’t preserve the Source River; it will eventually evaporate anyway. Please don’t do such dangerous things, or you’ll be eroded by the Source River."

"Let go, don’t stop me," Zhuyan Yu seemed somewhat irrational, struggling as she shouted.

"Not stopping are you kidding? Someone help me!" Luo’er called out loudly.

Upon hearing his cry for help, the people around rushed over to restrain Zhuyan Yu. Baiyue was about to go over but was pulled back by an arm by Cheng Ziang, who then gestured with his mouth, "Don’t add to the chaos. Take pictures and record instead, lest you miss the opportunity."

"Oh oh!" Baiyue suddenly realized upon his reminder and quickly took out a mechanical camera to start taking pictures and recording.

Luo’er was pulling on Zhuyan Yu when he suddenly felt a mysterious wave of nausea, making him involuntarily retch, followed by violent coughing.

His actions frightened the people around him, and Tangmo quickly dragged him out of the Source River’s influence, then said with a mournful expression, "You’re really not fully recovered, and I almost got you killed again!"

"I just... cough cough, it’s merely, the magic power is a bit irritating to the nose, that’s all." Luo’er waved his hand, trying to maintain his composure, but he felt an inexplicable sense of nausea in his heart.

The Source River is essentially a highly concentrated magical essence, and during its diffusion, it causes subtle yet intense disturbances in magic power. Those with even slightly inferior magical aptitude would feel discomfort just from being close. Only a magic genius like Tangmo could endure a little longer.
