Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 1216 - 1209: Amulet

Chapter 1216: Chapter 1209: Amulet

Having set aside his melancholy, Luo’er saw an airboat sweeping over his head from afar, which then docked at the Rivermouth Skyport south of Lipei City. That must have been the airboat from Helros, and tomorrow they would embark on this airboat to Helros, before boarding the Helrandum to the distant and unknown East Continent.

The next day, the Advance Team gathered at the southern skyport of the city, awaiting the arrival of Zhuyan Yu while also saying their final goodbyes to those around them.

In just a few years, none of the five members of the Advance Team were alone; Hu Daoke was tearfully saying goodbye to his young wife, and Feron, accompanied by a group of villagers from Meila Village, came to see off Baiyue and Taran.

After several years of development, the rabbit-eared villagers of Meila Village finally didn’t have to live in anxiety every day because they were protected by a strong regional government. Once, they had lost half of their population, but recalling that period now seemed like another lifetime.

On Luo’er’s side, he was saying goodbye to his sister, Luoya. Luo Qishan, due to health reasons, couldn’t risk coming to Lipei, so he had entrusted Luoya to relay his words.

"Grandpa said, you need to be careful and not stir up trouble anymore, complete the mission and come back early, don’t linger..." Luoya relayed Luo Qishan’s words emotionlessly.

"I know, once the mission is complete, I’ll come back early," Luo’er nodded gently.

Listening to his response, Luoya took a deep breath, then unexpectedly hugged him tightly, resting her head on his chest, her eyelids heavy as she murmured, "Make sure to come back soon."

When interacting with outsiders, Luoya still displayed her tsundere character, but Luo’er was an exception. Once she accepted him as her brother, Luoya could easily and unburdened share her feelings with him.

"I know," Luo’er gently patted her back, his voice soothing, "It’s just that you have to continue looking after grandpa on my behalf."

"That’s what I am supposed to do, only you took it from me," Luoya muttered.

"Ah, I’m so jealous of you, I want to hug Luo’er like that too," Tangmo, who was nearby, sighed with envy.

"I’m his real sister," Luoya responded, blinking her large eyes.

"I definitely don’t want to become Luo’er’s real sister," Tangmo narrowed her eyes, a cunning smile appearing, "otherwise, how could I marry him?"

"You..." To her surprise, Luoya’s face was just as thick as Luo’er’s, and she blushed instantly upon hearing those words.

"Momo, don’t say such things in front of her," Luo’er glared at her, complaining.

"Yes, yes," Tangmo shrugged, her eyes smiling, "you siblings really are close, both thick-skinned."

After letting go of Luo’er, he was immediately entangled by Tangmo. Luoya’s blush hadn’t faded when she slowly approached Cheng Ziang, who preemptively said with a smile, "I’ll be careful, you don’t need to worry about me, I’ll come to see you when I get back."

"Who wants you to see me, annoying," Luoya’s face turned even redder, huffing, "you better die over there!"

"That really hurts my feelings..." Cheng Ziang replied.

"Hmph..." Luoya looked down, somewhat sheepishly, and after a long pause, she finally said, "Just make sure you protect my brother and bring him back to me safely."

"What about me?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"You come back with him!" Luoya replied impatiently.

"Ah, I see," Cheng Ziang grinned mischievously, then narrowing his eyes, he added, "So it means even if I come back with broken arms, legs, or blind in both eyes, as long as I return, that’s okay, right?"

"You..." Luo Ya lifted her head to look at him, saw his mischievously smiling face, and immediately realized she had been teased. Incensed, she shouted, "You should just die over there!"

After saying that, she turned around and left without looking back. Realizing he had messed up, Cheng Ziang tried to follow her but was immediately stopped by Yalunte, who appeared in front of him.

"Can’t you two just talk nicely? I do really like that girl, Luo Ya," Yalunte said earnestly.

"You’re old enough, why stir up trouble?" Cheng Ziang gave him a look and spoke irritably.

"Come on, settle down, have a child early. Our family has only had one child per generation. If something were to happen to you, our line would end there. We have to keep the line going," Yalunte said methodically.

"You..." Cheng Ziang was so exasperated by his words that he was lost for words.

"Ah, let’s drop that topic," Yalunte said, pulling Cheng Ziang into a corner. He then looked around, lowered his voice, and spoke, "This time you are going to war, so I’ve specially prepared an amulet for you. Wear it, and it will surely turn misfortune into good luck when you face danger."

As he spoke, Yalunte took a pendant out of his pocket and handed it to Cheng Ziang. Cheng Ziang stared at it, squinting and deep in thought for a long while, suddenly realizing something, and he asked wide-eyed, "Isn’t this..."

"This is your great grandmother’s Residing Crystal. I specifically dug it up from our ancestral grave for you. If you run into danger, just call on your great grandmother, and she will definitely protect you," Yalunte said in a hushed tone.

"You really are..." Even though he had anticipated that he would do such a thing, Cheng Ziang was still in shock.

"I know, I know, I’m just the world’s number one filial descendant," Yalunte waved his hand as he spoke, "Don’t rush to scold me. This was also your great grandmother’s wish. The last time I visited the grave, I reasoned with her, and she eventually agreed to stop guarding her lover and start protecting her descendants."

"But if she’s gone, what will become of that grave?" Cheng Ziang asked, eyes wide.

"Oh, I blew it up," Yalunte answered nonchalantly.

"You... ha, ha, ha..." Hearing Yalunte’s description, Cheng Ziang didn’t know what to say. Though furious to the extreme, he couldn’t help but burst out laughing, tears streaming down his face.

After all, Yalunte was a person from the Otherworld. Although he had learned a lot about Han culture, at his core, he was still a man of the Otherworld, so he couldn’t understand Cheng Ziang’s feelings.

Cheng Ziang, who grew up in a Confucian cultural circle, held great respect for his ancestors. Yalunte’s actions of disturbing the ancestors and exploding the family tombs were, in his view, nothing short of heinous—a crime that in ancient times would have warranted dismemberment.

In some ways, Yalunte was a typical utilitarian. Anything useful, regardless of religious or ethical considerations, could be employed. Since his ancestors were demigods, why not use them to protect his son and make use of their remaining powers?

"Don’t rush to scold me. Everything I did was approved by your great grandmother. It was with her consent that I was able to summon her, and with her agreement, I dared to blow up the tomb. If she hadn’t agreed, how could I have dared to be so presumptuous?" Seeing Cheng Ziang’s expression, Yalunte quickly explained.

"Just because she allowed it, you dared to commit such an act of insubordination?" Cheng Ziang wiped his tears and asked sternly.

"I talked with her for a long time. She wanted to guard her loved one because there were people coveting the treasures in the tomb. So, I just said that blowing up the entrance would solve everything, that way no one would be able to get in from outside, and she could leave to protect her own descendants. After all, protecting her descendants is very important as well, isn’t it? Why else would they have children?" Yalunte explained patiently.

"I really am..." Cheng Ziang still felt speechless.

"Alright, alright, I know you’re upset, but your great grandmother is already here, so just take her with you to protect you. Otherwise, now that the tomb is blown up, it’s practically impossible to return her there, and you can’t just leave her lying around. If the crystal is damaged, your great grandmother might truly pass on, and you wouldn’t want that, right?"

Hearing his words, Cheng Ziang grabbed the pendant from Yalunte’s hand, clutching it tightly and glaring at him as he spoke, "I’m taking this to protect my great grandmother. If this pendant ended up in your hands, who knows what insane things you could possibly do with it."
