Chapter 1207: Chapter 1200: Double Gifts
"Is this for me?" Tangmo asked excitedly, lifting his head.
"Yes," Luo’er said, scratching his head sheepishly, "We’ve been constantly on missions, and I wasn’t able to do anything special for your birthdays. I’ve always remembered, just didn’t have the means."
"It’s the thought that counts. What more could you need?" Tangmo touched the pendant with trembling hands, slightly reproaching.
"I don’t want to appear too cheap," Luo’er said seriously.
"I haven’t celebrated my birthday for several years now," Tangmo, looking at Luo’er with expectation, added.
"Uh, this... I’m a bit strapped..." Luo’er said awkwardly.
"Just kidding. This gift is enough; I’m really happy with it," Tangmo smiled sweetly and continued to examine the pendant.
"Roar, roar, roar, I just saw you giving presents to another girl!" the service robot, acting as a third wheel, suddenly spoke up.
Although it was still in a synthesized voice, Luo’er could clearly sense the schadenfreude in its tone.
"Can you not speak?" Luo’er was so mad he almost couldn’t find his words. He never expected the robot to not only speak logically, but also to be so calculating—knowing just when to stab him in the back. It appeared he had underestimated it.
The robots at Shenghua Academy mostly belonged to the third generation of service robots. Compared to the first two generations, the most significant change in the third generation was the incorporation of artificial intelligence experience from Otherworld, giving each service robot an independent personality.
These personalities were computed by summarizing human characteristics and then implanted into the robot’s processors. It could be said that the third generation of service robots were mechanical life forms created through the experiences of Fulajie’er.
The service robots at Shenghua Academy were never designed to mimic human appearance; they didn’t emphasize having limbs like humans. They resembled Star Wars’ R2-D2—short and stout, almost the size of a trash can, with a magnetic levitation device at the bottom. They hovered about ten centimeters above the ground, moved via electromagnetic power, and could also use the shafts of the Omnidirectional Elevators.
Currently, whether it was the military or scientific research sectors, anthropomorphic robots were not considered a research direction. The army’s armored robots were somewhat similar to the Future Tanks in Red Alert, with a tracked transmission structure at the base.
These robots mainly served as stationary firepower points, working in conjunction with drones for defense. However, as a weapons platform, some armored robots were also equipped with anti-tank missiles or mortars for supporting positional warfare.
The service robot had actually not seen Luo’er before; it had received the information through the internal network of the academy from other service robots. Although these service robots all had unique personalities, they were all connected to the academy’s network, managed by a central terminal.
The service robot in front of Luo’er obviously had the type of personality that loved stirring the pot and making a scene, Luo’er wondered which genius had decided to give it that personality.
"I just don’t want innocent girls to be deceived," the service robot said with righteous indignation.
"You..." Luo’er was so upset he was at a loss for words.
"It’s okay, I’ve known about him and other girls for a while now, you don’t need to inform me. You’re supposed to be just a light bulb, why do you always have to butt in?" Tangmo said, narrowing her eyes, still immersed in the joy of her gift.
"You don’t mind being betrayed?" the service robot asked emotionlessly, yet you could sense its surprise.
"I don’t mind," Tangmo shrugged.
"I don’t understand, I don’t understand you women," the service robot muttered, then backed away a few steps and ceased speaking.
"Luo’er," Tangmo put down the box, then took the ribbon from the box and tied it around her wrist, stood up, took Luo’er’s hand, and whispered mysteriously, "You give us birthday gifts, so we should also give you one in return. I was in a hurry so didn’t prepare much, I can only give you this."
Saying that, she extended her hand, displaying the ribbon on her wrist while looking at Luo’er with deep affection.
"You... stop kidding around..." Luo’er was stunned for a moment, quickly catching on, and said with a mix of laughter and tears.
"This is very precious..." Tangmo pouted.
"Let’s save gifts like this for another time," Luo’er said with a wry smile.
"Seriously, you’re too serious, sometimes I almost start to dislike you," Tangmo said, annoyed.
"I’m sorry, I’m just not ready to take responsibility, so..." Luo’er scratched his head.
"Actually, you’re just shy, aren’t you? Don’t you understand yourself?" Tangmo pinched Luo’er’s smooth cheek, her anger turning into happiness.
"Uh..." Luo’er lowered his head, hesitating to speak.
"What else do you want to say?" Tangmo asked curiously.
"Actually... I also prepared a gift for Momo..." Luo’er said hesitantly.
"Momo..." Tangmo paused for a moment, immediately realizing he was referring to her other personality, then looked at him with an aggrieved expression and asked, "You like so many people, can you really handle all that affection?"
Luo’er bowed his head, silent.
"You’ve already given me a gift, isn’t that the same as giving one to her? Why go through the trouble again?" Tangmo continued.
"No, in my eyes, you are you, she is she. I have never treated you both as the same person," Luo’er shook his head and said.
As for what feelings he had towards Momo, Luo’er really couldn’t explain, nor did he know if he was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, as he was bitterly devoted to this woman who had once hurt him yet deeply loved him, always unable to forget her.
"Ah, I never thought I would actually be my own rival in love..." Tangmo sighed deeply.
"Uh..." Luo’er was about to speak but was quickly interrupted by her.
"You don’t need to explain, I understand," Tangmo stopped him and said, "Anyway, for me, it’s no loss either way. If she can get rid of you, that would indeed do me a big favor."
"You shouldn’t always think about such things..." Luo’er said embarrassedly.
"Momo likes these kinds of things more, you never scold her," Tangmo complained and then lowered her head.
In an instant, Luo’er immediately felt her demeanor change, so he instinctively took a step back.
But no sooner had he stepped back, Tangmo immediately wrapped her arms around his waist, lifting her head with eyes sparkling with desire.
"Calm down, we are outside," Luo’er tried to console.
"What’s wrong with being outside, what are you thinking about?" Tangmo blinked her eyes playfully and asked.
"You shouldn’t just come out and pick on me, had I known this, I wouldn’t have let you come out," Luo’er said with a wry smile.
"You dare!" Tangmo pouted, threatening him.
"What are you guys talking about?" the robot playing the third wheel couldn’t help but ask again.
"This robot is really dumb, ever since it was given a personality, these robots seem to be getting dumber," Tangmo leaned against Luo’er’s chest, tilting her head as she eyed the service robot.
"Why are you insulting me?" the service robot emitted a red flash.
"Because you don’t understand love," Tangmo said with a smile.
"Love... robots don’t have love," the service robot answered.
"That’s why you can shamelessly hang around here like this," Momo clearly didn’t have a good impression of these service robots, her words sharp and cutting.
"Am I not welcome here?" the service robot asked.
"If you were human, you would have walked away out of embarrassment by now," Tangmo sighed and said.
After speaking, she turned her head toward Luo’er and boldly asked, "The gift, give it to me!"
"Could you let me go first..." Luo’er said with a wry smile.
"Okay, but if the gift isn’t to my liking, then I’ll just keep holding you," Tangmo said, slowly letting go of Luo’er.
Then, Luo’er took a small box out of his pocket. Compared to the previous box, this one was much smaller, only the size of a palm.
Upon seeing the small box, Tangmo instinctively thought of some TV show scenes, her heartbeat suddenly accelerating as if she was going to pass out from
